I personally loved it. I love the comics and the movie even more, obviously, because I see myself in Scott (a bit narcissistic I know I know haha- but also not for the dating a 17 year old thing), but the anime did all the things for Ramona's and her exes' characters that neither the movie or comics did for them. I appreciate this balanced take on the show and how you do take a fair look at the show overall vs the other works in the IP. But I did not get any vibe or indication that Knives and Kim end up together... I think that's just you man. My main disagreement is that I would NOT say the show was mid. It was incredible, just like everything Bryan Lee O'Malley and Edgar Wright touch.
i enjoyed it muuch more than the movie actually its really funny artstyle is just incredible it gives depth to the evil exes and it makes them really likeable but remona isnt given quite a good reason of why she tried this hard to get back scott i mean fuck they only went on 1 date and scott doesnt get any development it difinatly has issues but i think you a little too harsh on it
I really hated this new adaptation of Scott Pilgrim and was absolutely disappointed in it. I’m ok with a new story being told as long as it lives up to the original like MGS2 which a lot of people are comparing this show to. I think it’s a pretty shit comparison and Raiden actually goes through a full character arc. Ramona’s character arc felt rushed and her apology to Roxy felt unearned and what I find funny is that she goes this journey of self discovery and realizing the people she hurt in the past and I literally thought the same thing as you where Ramona doesn’t even apologize to the Katayanagi twins who she cheated on which felt really weird to me. I’m glad you liked it but yeah it’s a 6/10 only for the animation really doing the heavy lifting. Like for example the FNAF Movie exceeded, subverted, and surprised my expectations in comparison to Scott Pilgrim Takes Off which just left me feeling nothing. I didn’t need a sequel or continuation to Scott Pilgrim as it’s one of the only series that actually concluded and told a full story. I just wanted a full adaptation of the comic to be honest Also No Lisa I agree with basically everything you said in your review
Wym,this is literally an expansion/revision of the comics. The story is tolled from a different perspective but also expands on the og story by deepening other characters.
@@hepty3179 Yeah I wanted it to more loosely follow the events of the comics while adding/removing arcs, improving characterization and character moments, and maybe even expanding/improving on the world building and power system. I think the comics storyline already leave so much room for more creativity, revision, and expansion that a separate timeline was pointless. Plus I just prefer the og storyline to either of the adaptions by far. Thought it would be cool to see what he would do differently now
Not really the points I'd bring up when I say the show is mid but I haven't heard these before and some were really eye-opening
We deserve a proper adaptation of the comics

Im my opinion, the show was about five times better than the movie.

yet another zestyy banger !!
Gotta say I think I disagree with you I found it was a tight little piece that I really enjoyed 8.5/10
Gotta respectfully disagree with you there
While the twist wasn't what I was expecting, I still love the anime. 100/10 I'd give it
