As a Bristol fan i have to say you have a good side and your reaction to our managers resent tragety was brilliant many thanks.Good luck for the rest of the season
Generally agree with everything u said. Only point i disagree with is that it is MC that picks team and tactics. Yes he not responsible for misplaced passes etc but he on numerous occasions in past has said he wants us to play out from the back and it on his head. Players then have get out clause because following directions rather than take responsibility. Its the latest epidemic in football, not just Boro but 99% teams try it because it works for man city. Mc surely by now realises we dont have players to consistently play that way. Our best form under Carrick was when we play with pace and counter attack, not tippy tappy possession based rubbish. I get hom being cautious with forss as he been out long time, but others way too cautious. Onto the ref. I accept especially with no VAR in championship(thank god) mistakes happen but that ref needs looking into, i dont know if anybody able to contact the club to put an appeal in. Im not talking about decisions that sometimes go for, sometimes against. Im talking about the personal links sam allison has with bristol city. He was born in south west, he is a former player who was on the books at chippenham, a couple of other clubs and u guessed it... bristol city! See wikipedia and his playing career. Surely personal allegiances must be called into question as to why he was selected to ref a bristol city match? It would b like having mogga referee a boro match. This is not even a boro thing, this is a fairness thing for every club in championship that he cannot b allowed to take charge when the robins play. I dont know if you can use your social media influence, and he was not the exclusive reason boro lost as we were rubbish but it needs looking into? What do other boro fans think?
Agree with you all the way Matt, however, minor point, when you say Carrick needs to play his best players, yes he does but what all us fans are not privvy too, is what is in each players contract. It could be that several players have in their contracts that they have to play a certain number of games per season. I don't know, but it could tie Carrick's hand when picking the team. Just a thought or is it me being overprotective of Carrick?
We are always shite at the start of the season. But agree if we don't start seeing points go our way, the Carrick era might be coming to an end sooner than we think. Tbh I like him but I feel like I watching Wilders Boro returning. And it shouldn't be with the players we've got.
Used to follow United, stopped when word came out they were thinking of keeping Greenwood. Boro reminds me of United at times, trying to keep the ball but not good enough to really make that a big advantage. Prolly better off playing a different way
Love your content - keep it up! and I normally agree with you! But there is a But coming... Remember Lampard at Chelsea? Pundits lined up match after match to defend his narrative that the manager cannot legislate against individual errors by players? Then Tuchel came in and results and performances instantly improved (they won the champions league the same season with the same players) There have been three seasons of the same failings - mitigated by the first season where we scored a billion goals to cover up the many conceeded. You have 5 minutes of passionate and extremely articulate content about how the team selections were wrong and how Carrick has the obvious alternative options fit and sat there on the bench. McGree, Forss, Conway and Clarke - and you also say the great point that you can always bring them off after 60 minutes.. Seems like the managers fault to me, no? How many times have we been here before with his selections? McGree (when fit) has always been criminally under used by Carrick. Same with Forss (why he refuses to play him up front is beyond me). His insistence on playing Azaz on the left this season in certain games (he also used him on the left last season and mcgree in at 10 for 3 games on the bounce when they played together... no idea what he was smoking then). Carrick makes selection and positional errors all the time. He shoots himself in the foot and hobbles the team by playing players in sub-optimal positions. Last season... HOW long did it take for him to switch to a back three when the team (and fans) were crying out for sodity in our injury crisis. And guess what? Results INSTANTLY improved when he did. He is stubborn and tactically inflexible. That is not a a good trait. and dont get me started on his in-game management and subs... Also, we have always defensively suspect. Nothing new there. And the problem isnt in the box - it is in transition. The mistake is not in the box but often the transition from defence to midfield. And THAT can be mitigated against and coached. I would agree that the missed chances are baffling but it is the same players missing the same chances again and again.. so stop picking them! Goes back to the selection issue. Sorry, but I really wanted Carrick to succeed. He seems like a lovely, kind and respectful man. But I have seen enough to feel that this is a not a Bug in the system but a Feature. Keep up the great work!
These players dont look like theyve got s pair of balls between em right now. Is it carrick? Losing danks? Lattes late transfer drama affecting morale? Personally i think people need to be benched sooner when not performing as theres no desire to make things happen
Oh dear, I'm sorry Matt. I can tell how frustrated you are, must be so annoying seeing the same performance each week. Maybe your team isn't quite what you think it should be, football isn't played on paper. You do have some decent players, but inconsistent, and that's a problem at any level. Perhaps the players don't have the right mentality to deal with going behind in a game, or missing a big chance. Or maybe Carrick only has one style of play and no plan B. It could be a combination of all things. If you lose the next 2 games play-offs could be out of sight already! That would be very disappointing for you. Least Doak did alright. As a neutral in this matter, I'm sorry to hear things haven't been going well

Bristol City
Lathe runs around like a headless chicken .
100% agree with this Matt its like the passion and cheer have ben drained out of our fan base

I said the same ...once we click we will batter someone...But when will it click
It won't.
Carrick picks the team, Carrick keeps picking the same players out of form!!

I couldn't even sleep last night...lose Wednesday I fear Carrick will be close to losing his job...Gibson has patience but that will end soon

He put subs on the 2nd half and they just played anywhere they wanted and putting on Mcgree with 16 mins to go is embarrasing
Used to follow United, stopped when word came out they were thinking of keeping Greenwood. Boro reminds me of United at times, trying to keep the ball but not good enough to really make that a big advantage. Prolly better off playing a different way
SOS for Shooter McGovern 🔥😅
Last time we Won twice, Riley McGree started.

Carrick is the problem im aftaid.
Azaz needs to start scoring goals he hasn't scored a goal in 10 games 😅
Been here before. A 10natch unbeaten run usually comes along. Ride the storm
I sadly feel it’s very naive and hopeful to just assume we will go on a winning run like that personally
These players dont look like theyve got s pair of balls between em right now.

Referee was a yellow card legend, but it's rude to point 👉
