Owned a 05 rsx type s, sold it and bought a 10 series frs and miss the feeling of vtec . Don’t get me wrong frs’s look nice and all but it’s just not the same haha I miss the rsx
Damn haha, rsx-s's are definitely fun cars and have that super distinct vtec blast feeling you are talking about lol. Sorry to hear you let your's go, but on the other hand, an frs is a great car to build; not to mention its like the only 4 cylinder RWD couple I can name!
CruisePunk yea frs ain’t bad at all but I just seen this super clean black 05 Rsx type s for sale and I think ima buy it 😅🤣🤣 has a whole a spec kit (probably rep) but I’m tempted!
@@iHykt Damn, a black a spec rsx would be sick haha. I'm totally all for it, especially since s decent RSX-S is becoming increasingly hard to find lol not to mention an 05-06 body style one.
Let me know if you do end up getting it!
The whole 86 line has by far one of the best body’s released period. Imo obviously. But I drove my friends type-s a month ago because I’m selling my car and fell in love lol
Your RSX sounds damn good! I wish I had roads like that to drive though, beautiful area.
The k20a3s believe it or not specifically in my case the 7th Gen Si ( EP3 ) ( 2 time owner ) are pretty " Quick " i would say with basic bolt ons and tune. They romp more than what most people think. I feel like the power to weight ratio and the way the power is delivered is whats more appealing to us honda/ Acura boys then all out speed. The delivery and nimbleness of these vehicles gives such a thrill. Great video and id say the car is a tad quicker than what i imagined. Keep building 🤙🤙🚀🚀
Yeah haha I've driven faster cars but in my RSX it just feels so raw and fun lol. I have a buddy with a 7th gen si and it actually does get up there pretty quick, so I know what you're talking about haha. Thanks man! I have plenty of mods coming up the future haha
I have an 02 that I got for $1600! It needed a new clutch and trans rebuild. I am running the Hondata reflash with short ram intake and catback exhaust. It is very impressive now. Hopefully going race header and rbc intake manifold soon!
Sounds strong man! Love the videos. I ended up making 210whp/158wtq with Injen CAI, Skunk2 Alpha Header, custom 3in exhaust and tuned on Ktuner End User. You should definitely get it tuned man!
Thanks man! That's a nice set up got going haha. 210 to the wheels on an rsx sounds like tons of fun lol. Appreciate it, and keep me updated on your build!
CruisePunk Hell yeah man will do! I’m waiting to put on an RBC and possibly do a flex fuel setup. Keep the videos going!
@@MangoKev RBCs are great for the price haha. There's a gas station local to me that sells E85 lol I have been thinking about trying it out (obviously after I get the proper setup and ECU map). If you beat me to it let me know how it goes, thanks!
CruisePunk haha aye the same goes for you! But will do man! Yeah my RBC has been sitting for a while. Debating if I wanna port it to 70mm as well.
@@MangoKev the one thing I regret about my RBC is that I didnt get it ported lol that's why I'm still using a stock throttle body. If you have the time I'd get it ported, if not it still performs much better than the stock one haha
Just hit 100k miles on my 02 Type-S! I have had it for 5 years now! I absolutely love these cars! Started modifying mine 2 years ago with short intake, Skunk2 header, HKS 65mm exhaust plus KproV4! I have just an e-tune but it rips! No not the fastest thing but yes very fun! I am close to having my RBC, Ktuned TB, RDX 410cc injectors and the retune done this summer!
That's awesome man! 100k miles haha that thing's still a baby. I have a faster car as my daily, but the feeling of going fast and driving the RSX is so fun it doesn't even compare. Let me know how the new upgrades go when you get it set up!
The k20 and k24 pack a punch Honda makes the best 4 cylinders in the world its cool af how they squeeze so much power out a small engine my tsx is so fun to drive especially when vtec hits
Love that engine note
A K20 revving past 8000 RPM is a symphony
Damn that thing sounds good. Who cares if it’s slower than the q50 or even other cars. That thing sounds kick ass and it’s fun as hell to drive I’m sure. Wish so much I could find me one.
@@esufulawa same exact car minus the dual vtec head, and 6 speed
the only thing every rsx needs is a LSD
For sure!
civic si diff and problem resolved :p
MrQc4life yeah, but it’s a civic. Idk if you would be in an rsx or civic but I’d choose the rsx
I put a Type-R LSD in my turbo Type-S here in Canada
Miata Man thats not the point he saying you put a civic si differential in the rsx and the problem solved
Got super lucky with my rsx, 138000 miles for only 2400, by far worth the money and have some money to spare for bolt ons
“Unleash the dragon” lol hell yeah.
Haha I see you got a DC5 too, you know exactly what I am talking about 😂
CruisePunk ooo yeah. VTEC is noice
Just wanna say huge thank you too all current and new subscribers! Stay tuned cuz there's a lot more content coming!
With full bolt ons and tune, these cars are a lot faster than people think. Done right they'll beat a lot of sport/muscle cars on the road even newer ones
Hell yeah haha, our FBO 4 cylinders will smoke some v6 muscle cars or at least give them a damn good run for their money haha
The rsx type s is a beast the ptw is potent especially fbo I got a bone stock 11 si sedan I raced a v6 Camaro it was a 2010 I stayed ahead for a min he started slowly creeping up at around 120 very impressive for a small motor
I like your expression and feeling towards the car I love my RSX with passion
I just bought an rsx-s 120k miles.. yea definitely under appreciated
Dope video man, loved the car
Thanks man!
I love this bro SO much.
Practice your shifting and downshifting man. It makes the experience 100% better. I just bought a type s and has a skunk 2 alpha header, Megapower RR with an aem intake. It’s such a fun car and the driver mod makes it so much more fun. Great video man. Love that rsx
I think this helped convince me to do full bolt ons and a tune lol. 20-40 in 2 seconds . It takes my rsx about 3.1 seconds to get to 20-40 with just intake , exhaust, and reflash. Should be pretty fun for a daily with all the bolt ons . Also got the type r lightweight flywheel so it’ll make a difference
Sounds like you're halfway there to full bolt ons haha. But yeah man, I think running FBO's is the way to go since you can net decent performance gains but still keep the reliability of our k series motors lol. Have fun with your build 👍
@@CruisePunk How much of a difference would you say a pro tune would make compared to the k-tuner reflash? Once all my parts come in I was gonna wait a bit to save up more money for a tune.
@@EricV206 From what I've heard a pro tune more or less evens out the powerband. I wouldn't expect anything more than a 10-15whp gain over the reflash. I've been talking to a couple tuners nearby and they said a reflash is a must for these mods at minimum. I am going to get it dyno tuned probably a few months down the road. If you beat me to I'd love to hear your results!
CruisePunk I just got my mounts and header installed and it sounds super ricey only at like 2400-3000 rpm and then it goes away. I got an invidia header with a cheap yonaka catback exhaust that the previous owner put on. Is yours like that? I know it’s supposed to be raspy after you take off the cat and put the header on but it’s raspy and it sounds super ricey like the Civic eBay exhausts now
@@EricV206 so you do have a resonator after the headers? Mine doesn't sound ricey at all, but without a decent resonator I have heard some semi-ricey sounds. Sounds like a decent setup though. I know the yonaka has a decent muffler but I am running a magnaflow oval resonator with no muffler and no rasp.
nice! cant wait to get all my bolt ons too. 8:00 even stock it's zippy, i can only imagine yours. i also have injen sri, im surprised you went with the hot air intake lol
Haha bolt ons are a lot fun lol, and you get to keep the awesome K series reliability. I did have a full cold air intake at one point, was daily driving the car and was scared of hydro locking the motor lol. The Injen sri seems pretty good so far, who knows might switch back to my other intake in the summer haha. Thanks man, and let me know if you have any questions about bolt ons and stuff. Have fun with your build!
i have the same year and color! it’s the high compression and short gear ratios that make the ride intense
Hell yeah haha! Nice, 05-06 Milano red is a rare car especially if it's a type s!
Tears don't fall 🤘🏼
Hell yeah haha! Huge BFMV fan lol
The Type S came with 201 crank hp SAE corrected in 2006
Nice ride. I've got one completely stock from a little old man in South FL a year ago. Very happy with it as is, but those mods may be in the future.
Congrats! Glad to hear that. Even stock these cars are fun lol. Let me know if you end up modding it! Thanks by the way
it's pretty damn fast dude
I can confirm. I had my stock 2006 type S bottomed out at 160 mph. It felt like it was, and wanted to go faster. I probably realistically had it between 165 - 170 mph. I got home and promised myself I would never do that again. Have kids now. Not worth it. But what an adrenaline rush! The funnest car I've ever owned hands down.
Haha it is an adrenaline rush but yeah going that fast is too fast lol. Definitely a fun car though!
Were you going downhill or with the wind or both haha. The highest I could get my stock RSX Type-S to was like 145 mph. Now with FBOs and a reflash I could easily see a top speed of something around 160 mph.
Unless you had a Turbo this is a false story.
I think this car can definitely keep up with all the v6 cars out there no? Especially with that redline and weight difference. If not it must be nice to rev that high while banging gears.
Got a 02 base model with headers, cook air intake, drilled & slotted brakes, full catback, hybrid racing kpro tune, state 3 clutch my animal for a lil 4 banger
I miss my 05 DC5. I made 211whp with just basic bolt ones and Hondata.
That's pretty good power. Sorry to hear you don't have it anymore
I live in California, R those mods street and or smog legal 4 My RSX Type-S?
What do think about a 2002 type s 175k miles. It has a full body kit and wide back fenders. Professionally painted (doorjams and all except the engine bay) coil overs fresh wheels and tires, recaro seats. Stereo subs the whole 9. Catback exhaust and intake. I can get it for $6100. Its clean af just the high mileage is the issue with this one.
Me personally, I try to avoid buying cars that already have mods lol cuz you know the pervious owner probably drove/raced the car somewhat often. Not always the case the though, id say as long as it looks really well taken care of, its worth a shot. Milage isn't too bad, and with these cars being so hard to find lol its not like we have too many options. Let me know how it goes, good luck!
@@CruisePunk for sure. I'm gonna go check it out Thursday or Friday. Its my coworkers car. He said he just put a fresh clutch on it. If i end up getting it ill come back here and drop a Google drive link with some photos. Its gonna be a birthday gift for my wife. She always wanted one. She can keep her Evo X parked more often to keep the miles low
I was a little off on the miles its was actually 199k. I had to pass on it. It did scream highschool all over again 😂 it was so cool. But at the end of the day I just don't wanna be in it for that amount of money.
Almost same set up here but I have 2004 Rsx type s
K20a2
Type r cams
Short ram intake
Stage 3 clutch lighten flywheel
No name header
3 inch exhaust
Stage 3 Hondata flash
Had car dynod made 228 whp wich is not bad considering my buddy made 232 with same set up except rbc Intake manifold and k pro
That's actually some pretty impressive power! Nice setup you got there man.
I'm looking into getting a type s but im broke as hell. What kind of mileage should I be looking for if I want to do similar mods to yours. I know these cars are pretty reliable as is besides the basic 3rd gear shit but am still learning and wanna make a good choice to get me through college.
An rsx is a good choice haha. I know you can usually find 02-04 rsx's cheaper than the 05-06 body style. Honestly I wouldn't buy an rsx-s with over 150k miles, but that's just me. These k series motors are well made and known to last easily past 200k if well maintained. If you do end up looking at one with over 150k miles, I personally would only get it if it was bone stock (since there would probably be less abuse/hard driving) and looked clean/well-maintained.
Also base model rsx's are a lot cheaper and you can still get some good power with bolt ons, so I'd look into those as well. Obviously you'd make more power with a type s though.
might want something else, k series isnt a cheap platform to modify the right way.
The RSX is an awesome daily car for college. I bought mine with 130k miles stock and drove it for 3-4 years stock while commuting back and forth to school. I racked the miles up to about 185k with nothing, but basic maintenance (keep an eye on oil level, high mileage k series like to burn oil). Now the car has 218k miles with FBOs and I beat on it and race it all the time. Still runs like a dream!
My biggest advice is try to find a lower mileage one if you can, but biggest thing is no rust! Look for rust in the rear quarter panels (like in the wheel wells where the pinch welds are for the fenders). Mine had very slight rust when I bought it about 5 years ago and daily driving it in Ohio through the salty winters, the rust is pretty bad. Ultimately these cars will be super reliable if maintained well and rust will be the ultimate demise of these cars.
Unleash the DRAGON!
Hell yeah haha!
@@CruisePunk Yewwwwww!
That torque steer
Bro what adapter did you use on the rbc? Because i used the ktuned adapter and they didnt fit, and was smoking a lot, then i put the oem back. Help me please tnx
Oh man, you should see 450 whp turbo rsx, under 3000 pounds with an driver, that thing flies. With those number you can pretty much run any v8 that isn’t supercharge.
The dragon is loose!!!
Like honestly 😂 I don't know how else to describe it haha
Not bad. I got pretty similar mods. Switching over to e85 this week.
Nice man! Let me know how E85 works out, I was considering running E85 then getting a tune on it haha.
just bought me base model 04 automatic good daily drivers.. you should see what your 1/4th mile is
Man i love my 05 type s as well such a fun little car with I/H/E. Got some videos i put it up against some HRG35 and G37S.
Wait so if he has a ecu tune does that mean his motor is build in anyway? Or does the motor not need to be built to have a ecu tune?
14.5 with bolt on is likely and high 13’s with ecu tuning after bolt ons
Ese sonido 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey been watching a lot of your videos recently.Do you think this car is a good first car?
I’ve heard it’s a really good car to learn manual on, I am looking to buy one and it will be my first manual
I got a stock base 2002 rsx for 1500$ runs great
No e85 right?
Need that short shifter. Good video though 👍
Thanks man! True haha, I need that fast shifters driving mod first haha 😂
Hey man i want to put an rbc intake manifold on my dc5. Could you pls help me
With the parts thatll be needed and the modifications youve done in order to fit it? Thanks in advance.
Hey ;) what do you want to know?
Ive got one also, k20a2 the rbc's is plug and play...
Did your tune take away the vtec crossover feeling? From your video I don't hear the crossover.
So yes and no. What it does is it makes VTEC engage at a lower rpm range around 4k instead of 5600rpms if you are flooring it. If I were to cruise with my foot on the gas at a low to medium throttle you'd very distinctly hear the VTEC crossover. Since in the video I'm pretty heavy on the throttle VTEC is pretty much engaged the whole time on all my pulls haha
@@CruisePunk ah, gotcha. Thanks for the reply.
No problem!
E85?
This channel is beyond underated man. Im torn on whether my first car should be a gsr teggy or type-s but I think this k20 is gonna be easier to put on power compared to the B18c1. I just can't wait to build my fucking car and rip new ones for all these bitch ass camaros, stangs, n hemi's. Also can't get over how the k20 begs to be given life EVERY pull. Lastly brotha how much boost can stock type-s motors can handle and can't you tune the car to rev up to 9k?
Thanks for saying that haha, really appreciate it! As for the teggy vs rsx-s, that's a really tough one. My first car was a 2000 integra gs lol unfortunately auto but I loved that thing. Honestly I'd say if you plan is to boost it, I'd go for the integra, just because it would be cheaper in the long run to boost vs. a k series motor. Also you can run more boost easier on a b series since it's timing belt driven where as a k series is timing chain driven. But yeah as for bolt ons before the turbo, the k series would have bigger power gains over a bolt on b series.
To me though haha you're right k20s are always like screaming to go faster lol. And I'm right there with you on beating all those muscle cars 😂. So from what I've seen and heard, a stock type s k20 motor can safely handle 10lbs of boost for a daily driver. I've also seen people push 15lbs as a daily on a stock block, but I wouldn't go any higher than that haha. Also yeah, I can actually set my redline on my ktuner ECU on my rsx to rev as high as 11k - which I would never do lmao, but the option is there lol.
@@CruisePunkGotchu man I think I'll prob end up with a type-s just for better interior luxury and bigger motor. My plans when I get the car is to bolt I/H/E short shifter, stage 2 clutch, lighter flywheel, coilovers, and ecu asap. Then saving up for a decent turbo good for 500-600hp. I'll keep the boost low as the bottom end will be stock until I can upgrade the motor more then slowly turn the boost up :) I plan to take my time and buy only quality parts so whatever I'll need to make my car reliable then so be it.
Sounds like a good plan haha. In my opinion I do prefer the looks of the rsx better, especially interior wise like you said.
I found my 2002 type s with 148k miles for $2,500 also came with some after market exhaust and an injen intake. Idk how tf I got so lucky
Damn thats awesome! Haha that cars still a baby, glad to hear you got such a steal, have fun and welcome to the DC5 type s squad!
Great video I’m getting dyno tuned this week hoping to make 220-240 wheel I have rbc manifold, Plm headers, greddy exhaust, and a skunk2 throttle body
Dude that's awesome! Let me know the results that's like really exciting haha
And thanks by the way!
upgrade 90mm throttle should get close 300 if ur combos are good
@@ekelo Not even close.. If you want 300whp you have to build the motor completely.. 12.5:1 pistons, cams, upgraded valvetrain, ect..
Youll likely see around 215-220 with those mods depending on the dyno and altitude.. I just made 233whp/193tq on my K20/k24 with ported RBC and 74mmTB with full 3 inch exhaust and custom header. Got battery relocated to the trunk and have the CAI down where the fog light usually is.
Got my 05 type s for 5k and it had new paint job and newish motor. Guess I didnt know I was lucky
With upgrading clutch and flywheel you'll be flying
My exhaust on my rsx sounds like a bean can .. too bad I don’t have my headers yet
How is torque steer?
To be honest haven't really experienced that much torque steer, which is funny because I've always heard rsx's have terrible toque steer. If anything it's slightly noticeable in 1st, and at the bottom of 2nd. But yeah nothing crazy though, it's a lot better than I expected lol.
@@CruisePunk My 2003 RSX-S had pretty much zero torque steer. As does my 2011 Acura TSX V6 which has 280hp and is also FWD.
I made 250whp with my fbo k20a2 on e85
Hey man what exact ktuner unit did you buy? Thanks loved the vid have a 2006 type a too gonna post some vids as well!
Thanks! So I did not buy my ktuner off this website but here's a link to the kit I bought.
jhpusa.com/products/ktuner-ecu-r1-tuner-package-05-06-rsx-type-s-prb-ecu
It's a plug and play end user set so it's very easy to install, or you can buy just the board piece for the ECU for cheaper, but you have to modify the stock ECU to use it.
Is it worth it putting a catback from front to back with a magnaflow exhaust on a automatic Rsx?
Sorry for the late response somehow your comment got marked as spam lol. I'd say yeah, go for it. Makes it more fun to druve and there actually is a reflash for the automatic RSX ecu if you decide to add more bolt ons.
Had a 2004 RSX-S with bolt ons and a KPRO no intake mainfold or throttle body upgrades and beat a BMW 335i coupe (with passenger) in a straight line. If you want to see me take down an M3 on the track search youtube for Acura-RSX PBIR
Damn that's awesome man! Haha I have a buddy with a stock 335i sedan, he doesn't believe me when I tell him I can probably keep up if not beat him in my bolt on rsx-s. Good info haha, now I know I have a chance!
Get it tuned...feels totally different. Got 222hp 156tq with my setup.
That is the spring/summer plan for my DC5! Solid numbers and good to know by the way, especially since those tunes aren't cheap haha. Thanks for the input!
If I get a Ktuner I can just plug and play with everything stock right?
So there are two ktuner kits, one that comes with an entire plug and play ECU for about $700, and that's all it is- easy just plug and play and you're good to go. There a cheaper kit for about $500 where you have to solder your stock ecu to the new ktuner ecu part, and obviously that ones not plug and play.
How much was the total
I picked up a type s for 2900 with 210k miles
how many miles are too many? id like to mod my stock type s @ 215k miles
115k. I modded my integra with 230k miles a little while back haha, it handled it like a champ.
What RPM does the VTEC kick in, yo?
😂 4800rpm high throttle 5600 normal throttle on my ktuner ecu
My 02 is not tuned and I noticed VTEC at about 5200 rpm.
@@CruisePunk I FINALLY Ktuned my k24/k20 engine. I just bought a PLM header and a full 2.5" exhaust. Time to get to work son!
Hey how much $$$ u put on it? Just bought an rsx base
Shoulda got a type s
@@damaniedo5486 lol I might ... But for the money they're going for I can move up to other whips lol
what's the 0-60 time?
Sorry, never timed it before. A stock type s apparently does a 5.5 second 0-60 and I can definitely tell you a bolt on rsx-s is significantly faster.
I have the same car same color year and I’ve got RBC manifold, PLM 1320 headers, AEM V2 intake, 70 mm skunk2 throttle body, HKS hi power exhaust I think with a time it’ll push towards that 230-240 wheel hp range
Nice man! Haha sounds like we have very similar builds, love Milano red on the rsx too.
I've been debating on getting an aftermarket throttle body. I've heard mixed things, still running stock. How do you like your skunk2 tb?
CruisePunk no issues so far I’ve heard they stick sometimes if I decide to go bigger at some point I’ll switch to hybrid racing they have all positive reviews
@@dc5mac21m3 gotcha, I've heard good stuff about hybrid racing tb's too. I'll probably go that route especially since they have one that is made specifically for the RBC intake manifold.
when this guy said 250-270hp I almost died laughing. 230 sounds much more reasonable. unless you are slapping a turbo or building the engine you are not going to get much HP from simple bolt on on a naturally aspirated car.
If you shift faster it’ll be even more aggressive😂 what’s ur insta or something let me send u a video
Insta: luke_hurl3y
Lol I know 😂 sometimes I'm a little afraid to shift fast because I've heard some bad stories about rsx fast shifting lmao.
@@CruisePunk huh?
Can you run bolt on without tune would it affect it?
So you can run bolt ons with no tune or no reflash, but you'll see minimal performance gains vs having a reflash or tune. Still a little faster than stock, but I wouldn't run anything more than a CAI or exhaust without a tune/reflash because you don't want to end up running too lean.
Are you running a cat? The RSX just makes you want to drive aggressively
I made 220 on my k24a2 fbo but I do need a retune
Damn that's good stuff man 👍
A v6 Camaro? 🤔
Yeah it was a 2015 auto v6 camaro, roll racing on the highway lol did a lot of pulls and I won all of them.
I beat v6 Camaro’s with my Type S just with catback and Federal RS-RR’s
I just an email from Doug DeMuro today
Hit me up, you can film my car but I'm in ak
Its not fast at all... But considering its an NA 4-cylinder, its extremely fast for what it is, most making like 220-230whp stock with just bolt ons.
If you don’t take care of those z1 engines mannnn they will brake easy … get a k20a2
Get it tuned
I will in the somewhat near future haha
Quien que lo traduzca al español el video jeje

Those cars are garbage man they shake and rattle they are made super cheap not worth what people want for rn
I got K20A Type R swapped with almost the same set up.
HKS 2.5 cat back.
K tuner
1320 headers
3” Hybrid racing CAI
RBC manifold 70mm TB
Did 218 hp 155tq ( dyno with older AEM V2 intake )
