My First Drift event: Learning How To Drift In My Low Power KA24DE 240SX At Shotsu 2023

- I'm new to drifting and decided to somewhat document my progression along the way. Since I just finished building my car days before the event I didn't really have much time to practice on the streets, so these are pretty much my first ever attempts at drifting apart from trying a couple of corners when the car was still on its standard 15 inch wheels.
I only brought a gopro to use for onboard videos, but luckily @SkidsnTea filmed some cool outside shots of me sucking at drifting that I could use. go check out his channel if you want to see the whole event and not just me.
As far as mods go, it's a really basic setup: it has a stock but rebuild ka24de with a 3" exhaust, adjustble tention rods in the front and adjustable camber and toe arms in the back aswell as solid eccentric steering rack bushings (it got rid of binding at full lock, but doesnt give any more angle as far as I know), and ofcourse the differential is welded.
and if anyone cares about my wheel or alignment specs: On the front I run about 5° camber, 7°30' caster and pretty much 0° toe, and on the rear I run about 1°40' camber and also 0° toe. And for the wheels:
17x9.25" ET4 SSR Agle Strusse (front)
18x9.25" ET14 SSR Agle Strusse (rear)
17x9" ET14 Panasport G7 (rear, spare)
17x9" ET18 Panasport G7 (rear, spare)

Will do man, thanks! And yeah for sure, thats why I wanted to film from day one start out with a slow and close to stock car. That way I can learn the car in its original form, and slowly change and upgrade whats necessary for me to do better and have more fun! I also find it interesting to feel the difference each mod makes instead of starting out with a heavily modified car that already has everything youd need (or dont need yet)

Saw a tiktok some time ago with your car in it from a carmeet and always wondered who owned it since i havent seen many 240sx in Europe so its nice that youtube recommended me this video! Love the 240! I dream of owning one oneday but they are very rare in Norway

@oooooooliver it was imported through the nato base in Germany in 2014. Then it passed through a few hands without the correct papers as they never imported it to europe correctly (probably not needed for americans stationed here) and then someone spun a bearing and tried to take it apart, but couldn't fix it himself. And that's when i bought it and started restoring it

@@Tacmans thats sweet, I think it's more fun to start out with a very basic setup, that way you'll actually feel what every change does, and improve your skill and car together. I welded a bung in my oil pan already when I did the rebuild, but kept it NA so i could feel what a NA ka24 feels like as we only got the ca18det's. I do plan on turboing it next year though
this track looks so fun!
Yeah it is! Might be my favourite track since its so big and can have many different layouts. If you look up "tor Jastrząb radom" on google, you can see the full layout. Only downside is, its about 1350km away, but its a cool track with a 2 day open track event.

It definitely did well, and better than expected with the big wheels. It is a dohc ka though, but still!

@@goodpanda1558 no, the sohc was used from 1989 til 1992, in 1992 they used the dohc engines

I felt like I had progressed quite a lot in just those 2 days. Definitely took me a while to figure it out, and i still havent touched my handbrake, but other than that it was a successful event. Will be doing another one in june with hopefully a bit more power
Are those 18inch wheels? I just bought that same bodykit and I dont know what wheel size to go with, you think 17 will be good? Or the bodykit will be too low and touch the ground?
Yeah 18s in the back and 17s in the front! Thats what most people run and looks/fits the best.

Yeah the prices are fucked, but there are still some deals out there if youre willing to and have space to restore them. This car had no interior and rodknock. I spend about a year and a half sourcing parts, rebuilding the engine and fixing the rust myself. But that being said, you might be better off getting a cheap 350z nowadays
@@dannovic in my country s13/180sx with CA18 can easily cost 10k, and they will look like 5-6k 240sx =(
@SALON_V_STILE_TRIBAL yeah same for me man, im from the netherlands. But i did buy one for 2500 about a year ago, and two others for 1300 and 2200 about 2 years ago. You just have to be lucky and immediately go and get them
