It’s amazing what a flathead screwdriver will do. Find the compressor, there’s a relief valve to release at 110psi or so. Turn that screw clockwise to close it and you’ll know if your compressor is bad or the dryer is frozen. You can run with a frozen dryer but not a tired compressor. The tricks you learn off-road trucking opposed to highway

I’ve got to give you Dave and your GF a shoutout because you seemed to stay cool and calm in this situation. A lot of drivers would be yelling and screaming and saying, “This is unacceptable from any trucking company and I should be treated a lot better than this!!!” Hopefully people can learn something from this video.

    • @DinanBMWm5
      @DinanBMWm5 2 роки тому +2

To be fair, that is unacceptable. A trucking company as big as CFI should be on top of it, they should be proactive and check on the status of the tow truck and if it’s not coming then get another company to come out.

@@DinanBMWm5 umm cfi is one of the top companies as far as taking care of the driver during a breakdown, they aren't in control of how long the tow truck takes, obviously you don't know what you're talking about....

@@DinanBMWm5 Dave’s breakdown happened in winter weather conditions . That tow truck driver may have had to go to an emergency call instead, like a jackknifed truck in the highway. Those calls are usually from law enforcement and they get top priority.

I was broke down in Nashville for nine days a few months ago. Certain parts are very hard to get, in fact CFI sent one of the parts for my truck from Joplin because the dealership could not get the part.

When you drop a trailer at a dock the trailer tires should be slid all the way rear. I learned that as a forklift driver when someone left the tires at 41' and the nose of the almost empty trailer went to 16' above ground, and the DOT bumper sat on the ground.

Not true. Only need to move the tandems back if the customer tells you to. If not feel free to keep them fwd.

    • @DinanBMWm5

If your company is loading such heavy freight then YOUR COMPANY should make it clear that tandems must be slid back, and a way to verify that they are.

Back when I was I kid, we had, not far from where I lived, a pond, that was designed to collect a lot of rainwater to be used for putting out fires. The firetrucks could pump water directly from the pond in case of a nearby fire. I've never seen it more than 1/4 full and the sides of it was in an angle of almost 45 degrees. (As i remember). At winter when the pond was frosen solid we kids would run our bikes down the sides as fast as possible and onto the ice. In hindseit, very dangerous... but very fun! :-)

    Hello Trucker Dave
I wanted to tell you something to help you
    in the cold .
You'll have to get two items.
    1) buy a good spray bottle Don't get a cheap one
    2) buy a jug of Prestone De-Icer
    winter windshield washer fluid.
It take care of frozen doors, deep freeze,ice/frost, streak free
and may help on the connects to the trailers hoses.
Do not mix it. Just pour some of the De-Icer into the spray bottle and spray the frozen areas on the truck.
I used it on my car to de-ftost the doors and key area to unlocked them.
Try it out and see if it works. them you can help others out.
Let them buy the spray bottle and you give some Prestone and see what it worth to charge.
    Best of luck
    Rod

Your lines are frozen. It happens in subzero temps. That’s why drivers in Alaska and Canada carry blow torches. So they can crawl underneath and dethaw the air and hydraulic lines. It’s crazy these companies will shell out thousands of dollars on towing and hotels and roadside for something that can be fixed in 30 minutes!

Fun fact to tell if some ice is good to walk on if it isn’t that color and its not pretty much in the single digits or at least 15 degrees it’s got to skate on or walk on now if it was a heavier vehicle wait longer to the negatives then you can go onto it but anyways if it’s like a hazzy or Smokey do not walk on it I’ve been in Alaska for about 6 years so I can tell when ice is save to walk on cuz the river through town would almost always have vehicles driving on it and people on it

Wow. Hope you all get back on the road soon. A trucker not moving is a trucker not making any money. A truck not moving us likewise a truck not making money.

I wouldn't worry about falling through the ice. That pond is just a ditch full of frozen rain water. It's maybe a foot deep in the center.
