Did we just buy a parts Jeep that's too good to part out?

- We did it again! This one was extremely spur of the moment. Luke has been lowballing people on Marketplace like crazy since I first met him. Sometimes it works out and sometimes he gets banned from Facebook. It's a gamble that he always seems willing to take.
Luckily, this time, it seemed to work out! The WARN 8274 is a highly sought after winch, and it's even more sought after when it's a JEEP special edition one. Once Luke saw this, he knew that this would be an investment he could milk twice the money back out of if he just pulled the winch and re-sold the Jeep.
His best-case scenario was pulling the winch and also the axles form his Jeep, the CreamPuff CJ5, but I don't know if it ever really crossed his mind that with very little work, this could be a running and driving Jeep.
This video details the events surrounding our trip to and from Utah, to pick up a Jeep that Luke decided to make an offer on, sight unseen!
My guy just doesn't miss.
I would love to see that CJ5 rebuilt and restored, but its not my money. Best wishes to SD for me; 70 years there but now up here!
One of my best friends decided to buy it from us and he’s going to bring it back to life. It’s a real win win! Now we have another CRAWL guy and we saved a Jeep in the process!
Would definitely love to see it rebuilt resto off road style, but at the same time. I want to be a crawl guy!!😂

Do your magic! After (5) previous CJ’s (4 7’s & 1 5) I’m ready to get back into wheeling. Moved to GA (followed the grandkids) from Temecula. Miss competing in motorcycle trials in Lucerne, but there is more acceptance and trails here. Retired, so budget is super low. I was considering a Samurai, but the jeeps here are about the same price for CJ’s. Did really want a 5 due to leg room and short wheelbase that makes steep climbs scary. But it might be a more affordable CJ, and definitely more roomy than a Samurai. What is your opinion of the 5 vs. 7 controversy. It will be mostly a dedicated trail buggy other than short trips around town, so highway performance or ride is not a concern. It will be trailered if going any distance. After pickups, Jeeps are the second most popular vehicle here in GA (outside of ). Love your show. I tried attaching a painting I did back in the 80’s of a desert racing ATC but it wouldn’t work. Hey Dave! Hello from CA! Personally, I love the little bit of extra room you get with a CJ7. They’re mostly budget friendly, depending on the condition you find one in. I think I would be too cramped in a CJ5 and especially in a Samurai. Wish I could see that photo of you on the ATC! I grew up riding 3 wheelers out here in SoCal!

I see more and more videos of these older CJs being bought after they've been sitting/ not running for many years. If they have been sitting outside, the temperature changes creates condensation in the engine block, gas tank, and more that runs down the sides and sinks to the bottom. That "overfilled oil" level may be because there is water in the oil pan. ALWAYS loosen the drain plugs, and hold them in place to see if drops of oil or water come out first. Ive gotten almost a full 2 liters of clean water out of one. Imagine if you just started it first and pumped all that water through the engine. Same with the gas tank, don't trust it. The rust or water will ruin that carb rebuild you just did.
But yeah.....fix it up is the way to go!
