That Spectrum port is a disgrace. The colour-clash is horrendous and the homebrew version _Mister Kung-Fu_ resolved both that issue (all people are the same colour) and the slow pace, showing that the computer was more than capable of having a decent version.
I would imagine the magazines do not score aginst other systems, unless they were a multi format mag. Colour clash was inevitable on the speccy and music, well, apart from some exeptions soundfx was about all you got during game play. However, the animation and speed were surprising as games like schooldaze and other fighting games did better. Would never beat the C64, but should have been better.
Hi, had Mr Kung Fu mentioned to me a lot following this video. Looks and plays so much better ! The original is shocking ! Thanks for commenting matey, really appreciate your input😎
I've never played Kung Fu Master, looks a little bit like Big Trouble In Little China. Can you do a Yie Ar Kung-Fu comparision video please? That was another good game on the c64.
Kung Fu Master on the Spectrum is laughably bad. C64 version is awesome and plays so well. There is a new C64 game coming out called Dragon Punch which is similar to Kung Fu Master so go check it out as there are a few work in progress vids on UA-cam for it. Can I call you out/give feedback on one daft thing. Try and get the publisher right instead of saying just Commodore or Spectrum. In this case it was US Gold who did this conversion. Chase HQ was done by Ocean and so on. If you aren't sure who released something you are comparing check out Lemon 64 or World of Spectrum.
As a spectrum fan even I have to say YUK, try Mister Kung Fu the homebrew update, just wonderful, I even Shit Game Time reviewed this on my channel, I blasted the programmers.
Yes matey this was truly a shocker !!!! Mister Kung Fu makes up for it, but I was so disappointed when this come out on the Speccy, as was a huge fan of the arcade game.
@@OGDuffy Thank you, be warned though, my SGT reviews I do not hold back on my thoughts especially towards the programmers and software houses, maybe check the outrun on Dos review first 😉
I can remember doing the same with similar arcade conversions ! Used to get so excited for the home release, that no matter how crap they were you still put the hours in ! Thanks for commenting matey 😉
Complete garbage but I also played the hell out of it to get my £7.95’s worth. Remember looking at the packaging and being jealous of the gorgeous screenshots.

Take a look at my Ghosts N Goblins video, shows how well the Speccy could handle side scrolling when done correctly.
Thanks for the comment 👍
Mister Kung Fu on the Speccy (2018) beats the pants of 1980s Kung Fu on the C64! But of course that wouldn't be a fair comparison!!
Mister Kung Fu was so much better ! But as you say gotta keep it fair 😉
I totally agree... have you played the spectrum homebrew remake "Mr kung fu"? It's much better!

Not played the Amstrad version. That said can’t be any worse than that Speccy version 😉
KungFu Master was garbage on the Speccy - Still played the hell out of it tho!

@@edz Was a great game and loved it on the arcade and C 64 ! But felt so cheated by the Speccy version !
@@OGDuffy to this day I still feel cheated by the Speccy version. The best thing about the game was the loading screen! 😂
