'Kilmersdon' returns to Somerset - Somerset & Dorset Railway - Santa Specials - 02/12/2023

Saturday 2nd December 2023 saw the inaugural day of festive 'Santa Special' service on the Somerset & Dorset Railway.
Trains were hauled by visiting Peckett R3 Class 0-4-0ST, No.1788 'Kilmersdon' (courtesy of the Somerset & Dorset Trust) - returning to her old Somerset jaunts; the locomotive having working at Kilmersdon colliery just a few miles away.
Filmed on crisp winters day, we see 'Kilmersdon' working up the 1/57 climb towards Chilcompton Tunnel, from a various lineside location along the route.
**Please note some shots were taken from the lineside under the careful guidance of volunteers, from non-public location. As always, I would like to say a massive thanks to all the staff and volunteers for this wonderful opportunity.**

An 'anodyne' to a day here of warship-grey unrelenting clouds; I like how you use long shots because it makes the trains more detailed and even dramatic. Fantastic! And the ending was special!
