Let me know what your Batman rankings are! My tier definitions are: Red Tier - Bad movies Yellow Tier - Flawed but entertaining Green Tier - Excellent Blue Tier - "God Tier" Batman movies Thanks for watching!
The Batman was an okay movie but I wouldnt put it in the god tier. The third act doesn't really work at all and Batman does really weird things like car chase.
Red Tier - 12 - Batman & Robin 11 - Batman The Movie (1966) Yellow Tier 10 - Batman Forever 9 - Zack Snyder's Justice League 8 - Justice League 7 - Batman Returns 6 - Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice Green Tier 5 - The Batman 4 - The Dark Knight Rises 3 - Batman (1989) 2 - The Dark Knight God Tier 1- Batman Begins
"Anger does not change the fact that your father failed to act." "The man had a gun." "Would that stop you?" "I've had training." "The training is nothing! Will is everything!" This is one of my favourite scenes in the Nolan Trilogy.
Watching this video was me going “Wait he didn’t put Batman Forever in the bottom tier? What?! It also wasn’t the yellow? Not in green, surely he just forgot about it.” And finally “The mad lad actually did it”. It was almost like going through the stages of grief. Well done sir.
I appreciate you not being in a rush to include The Batman in this list. I've always considered Batman Begins to be a pretty solid film and the Dark Knight slightly flawed, yet find the Dark Knight to be more compelling to watch. Also commend you for ranking Batman Forever so high. Not my favorite by any means, but it had some interesting ideas.
"Interesting" fits it well. As Interesting as Casino Royale had ideas regarding James Bond, making the movie unrecognizable as a Bond Movie, just as Batman Forever does bad things to Batman. Narratively.
'Batman Begins' is the best Batman movie. The shot of Batman opening his cape as he jumps down the stairwell in Arkham Asylum and in the cave when he is conquering his fear and eventually surrounded entirely by bats, slowly raising himself back to his feet are both iconic for cinema, not just for Batman movies. You also have an incredible actor capable of bringing depth and intensity to Bruce Wayne. Pattinson however by comparison is one of the worst actors I have ever seen in general and that's taking Sam Worthington, Daniel Radcliffe, Jai Courtney, Orlando Bloom, Eddie Redmayne, Gal Gadot, Ruby Rose, Amber Heard, Emma Watson and Elizabeth Berkley into account.
Michael Keaton may be, but I think his two films are surpassed by the Nolan trilogy. i personally just to see a Batman Begins films with Keaton as old man Bruce Wayne.
3:12. With all due respect to Sam Raimi, and notwithstanding the MeToo cloud hanging over his head, it was Bryan Singer and X-Men in 2000 that saved the genre.
Disagree with a few points of your ranking. I thought Batman (1966) was made for adults and children in a manner similar to classic Looney Tunes cartoons. Batman and Robin is just unreawatchable crap. Even though I disagree with some of your placement they were reasoned. Sub earned.
Great ranking! Saw The Batman too last week. I also liked it. Wouldnt say it was better than The Dark Knight though! But both really good movies. Hope Nolan does that magic too Bond one day!
Surely that HAS to happen. Martin Campbell did a superb job with Goldeneye and Casino Royale, but Nolan's take on the character would be a whole new experience. I hope to see it.
First off, OUTSTANDING review. 3. Batman Begins 2. Batman 1. Of Course - THE DORK KNIGHT (Epic classic in so many ways) At least you admit you placed Batman Forever WAY too damn high. I liked it. Was good but not GREAT.
My ranking: God tier movies: 1) The Batman 2) The Dark Knight 3) Batman Begins Excellent movies: 4) Batman 5) The Dark Knight rises 6) Batman Returns Flawed but still entertaining: 7) Batman the movie 8) Batman vs Superman 9) Batman Forever Bad movies: 10) Zack Snyder's Justice League 11) Justice League 12) Batman and Robin
Best first one with Michael Keaton, Keaton got both Bruce Wayne and Batman, Jack Nicholson far superior to Heath Ledger as the Joker, the atmosphere and sets were great.
I completely agree - apart from Batman Forever. I just don't get your reasoning for placing it there. And I supect it owes this place to you seeing it as a kid.
To be honest, I'll put Batman 1989 into Blue Tier. I used to watch the VHS over and over again, I did know every sentence and for me, Jack Nicholsons Joker is THE JOKER. Considering that Ledger committed self-termination because of that role, shows he's not worth the appreciation he gets. For me, personally, the 1989 Batman is THE Batman movie. However, there 2 other movies, actually 3 but let me explain: 2022 Batman It is a slow burner, and not everyone's cake, but I really love it. Like Snyders Justice League, I watched it now multiple times and it just doesn't get boring - just discover new stuff every time I watch it. Then, I have to walk into Animations, and there is one, what stands out for me: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 & 2 Seeing an old, retired Batman what has disappeared from the face of Gotham, returning is just great. A old man, kickin' ass and restarting his legacy is just great. "The Killing Joke" was good as well, but, the comic was better.
One of the first things i thought at the beginning was "I hope he rughtfully ranks the LEGO batman movie in the top tier." I know its animated, but I feel like it stands apart from the rest. I love Lord and Miller and their way to be faithful to all canon, mythology, and history as well as crafting amazing character stories, and doing it so touhing yet so laugh out loud hilarious. It is honestly right up there for my favorites.
I know this is still an unpopular opinion, even though i think it has become more popular over time, but I don't think that the dark knight is all that great. Sure, it's a decent film with one great performance in the middle of it but I think it's really flawed in substantial ways. The way the fandom also just treats it like the second coming, made me absolutely hate the film for quite some time. Luckily, the decenting voices have become more outspoken in recent years, which balances it out more.
Loved hearing your story how this impacted you 👍 from your description and definitions, you would make 1989 'flawed' to watch but an honourary Green tier member from its impact? Otherwise spot on, and thanks for your spoilers thoughts 😆💚
That's a good way to think about it. 1989 is a complicated one because I think it's a really solid film, it just goes against a lot of Batman's character conventions (even if it nailed the aesthetic). If it weren't for it's legacy it'd probably be hovering between the yellow and green tier for me personally.
@@PentexProductions jUST TO LET YOU know that Batman 1989 isn't the first time , Batman has killed (in live action films) also in returns he killed people , and He also kills people in Batman vs Superman , in the batman: The Dark knight returns (yes I know its animated films) he kills people lol so yeah so many times when he has
Thanks. I enjoy this sort of opinion / ranking video. It provides a different perspective, and can often bring up points I wouldn't have thought of. Whether I agree or not is really of little consequence. I haven't seen The Batman yet, though I intend to ASAP. My only other comment involves something you said about a movie doing exactly what it set out to do. Based on that - and on childhood nostalgia, of course - I'd have to put Batman '66 much higher. I watched the series as a kid (in reruns), and I own the movie. I still find it gloriously and uproariously funny as a spoof of all the things comic book super heroes represent (even though I still love comic book super heroes). And the iconic performances are just perfect. Thanks again. tavi.
My dad took me to see Batman and Robin at the movies, I was 5. It started at like 10pm and I felt so damn cool being out that late with my dad at the movies, I will never forget that. I haven't seen the movie since then and I don't ever want to because I want to remember it like I did that magical night. and because it looks like it sucks ass hahaha. RIP dad. I haven't seen the Val Kilmer Batman film, but I thought Paul Dano was brilliant as Riddler, he's one of my favorite actors. And dark knight is my favorite hahaha
This is a really good video and tier-list; really enjoyable - though i am not sure about Batman Forever, but what an opportunity to re-watch that one and reflect a bit on it and see what a missed. Heck, might be time for a bat-marathon. Really good production here, expertly articulated and tied together by the very smooth transitions!
Re-watch Forever if you're ready to not take it too seriously, it's so much fun! I'd recommend checking out the Joel Schumacher video by Patrick H Willems that I linked to in the description first if you want a full-length review of why it's great!
I always love your analyses, and this time is no different. I agree with everything you said, with the possible exception of Batman Forever (although your reason for its placement makes a lot of sense). Really, another excellent video.
That last quarter of the green teir section of the video spoke to me sooo much, casino royale is my favourite movie and spiderman 1 is great, need i say more?
When I first saw this video I thought ranking Batman Forever so high was just insane. But after rewatching the movie last night for the first time in years, I get it now. It's so ridiculous but I loved every second of it, and now I have to admit it's my fourth-favorite Batman film (my top 3 being The Dark Knight, The Batman, and Batman Begins in that order) despite how very flawed it is
This is my ranking… 1. Batman Returns 2. The Dark Knight 3. Batman Forever 4. The Batman 5. Batman Begins 6. Batman 7. The Dark Knight Rises 8. Batman: The Movie 9. Zack Snyder's Justice League 10. Batman & Robin 11. Batman v Superman 12. Justice League
Fantastic video, love hearing your thoughts. Your passion really comes across and gives weight to your opinions. Fast becoming my favourite channel on UA-cam. I haven't seen the Batman yet, but I am very excited to see it. Dark knight is my #1, but I have a soft spot for the whole Nolan trilogy, they would all be up on the blue tier for me, second best trilogy of all time. It's honestly been too long since I have watched all of the others for me to rank with any weight behind it.
Your opinion on Batman Forever is certainly controversial. I'd honestly rather watch Batman and Robin because it's so bad that it's good, while Batman Forever is nothing more than fun. Otherwise it's a good sign that you know how to have fun with movies, especially such a silly concept as Batman. Mad respect that you put Mask of Phantasm in god tier. It deserves so much love. I'd put Lego Batman in god tier too
I’ve always wonder what would’ve happened had Tim Burton’s Superman actually been made? Would we have eventually got a Tim Burton Batman Vs Superman ????? Keaton is as excellent as Bruce Wayne & I can’t wait to see him reprise the role in The Flash!!
I've seen every batman film apart from the 60s one in the cinema and I've got agree with putting Batman Forever in top 3 still love this film to this day Batman Begins for me is the Best Batman film
After watching Matt Reeve's (sedating) version of Batman, here is my revised list. FOREVER still reigns supreme. 1. Batman Forever 2. Batman (89) 3. The Dark Knight 4. Batman Begins 5. Batman Returns 6. Batman 66 7. The Dark Knight Rises 8. The Batman 9. Batman & Robin
My ranking: 12. Batman & Robin 11. Justice League (Wheadon) 10. Justice League (Snyder) 9. Batman v Superman (can you tell I'm not a huge fan of Snyderverse?) 8. The Dark Knight Rises 7. Batman Begins (this would get higher for me if not for that headache inducing editing) 6. Batman '66 5. The Dark Knight 4. Batman Forerver (I agree, it's very entertaining) 3. The Batman (it's been few months, I feel okay putting it here) 2. Batman '89 1. Batman Returns (my favorite Batman/comic book/Tim Burton/Christmas movie)
I didn't become an opinionated Batman fan until Batman Begins. I loved the animated series from the 90s, I enjoyed the '89 movie but that wasn't so much to do with the character of Batman. They were just good. I didn't care for him as a character until Batman Begins. I watched it a million times in college. That's what really started me as a fan, it's why I actually gave the comics a chance (I'm a pious Marvel fan). Dark Knight is OBVIOUSLY the better movie but I wish Begins was higher on your list, at least in the higher tier.
I agree with the list, the only thing I don't like is ranking movies based on their legacy. You can't rank a movie based on its legacy or what it inspired. When you rank a movie your supposed to look at its qualities and strong suits and its story and film making craft as a whole. I don't like ranking movies based on legacy but ig you kinda have a point abt it inspiring other movies i just don't think you should review a movie based on legacy
Batman (89) is for me god tier. No questions asked. Also, after thinking about The Batman for a while I think it lands pretty easily in the green tier, not god tier. And I approve of Batman Forever. Its just pure fun and holds up pretty well at that.
As someone who didn’t grow up watching the older Batman movies, or Batman at all really, Nolans trilogy was the one that made me a Batman fan. Without his movies I would have never gotten into it. In my opinion they aren’t only the best Batman movies, but some of the best movies I have ever seen. All 3 are god tier for me. With that being said I thought Batman v Superman was laughably bad. I literally laughed out loud in the theater at some of the lines and story elements. I’d take the slapstick goofiness of Batman and robin over that one lol. Very curious to see the new Batman in theaters. Purposely skipped that last part of the video
My list would be similar but different (and I include The Batman): Red Tier, Same as you: 12. Batman & Robin 11. Joss Whedon's Justice League Green Tier: 10: The Dark Knight Rises 9: Batman v. Superman 8: Batman Forever 7: Zack Snyder's Justice League Yellow Tier: 6: Batman - The Movie (1966) 5: Batman Returns 4: The Dark Knight 3: The Batman (2022) Blue Tier: 2: Batman Begins 1: Batman (1989) Some people may disagree about The Dark Knight. I find that movie excellent, fantasic even, but I don't think its a Batman movie. In Nolan's trilogy Gotham never felt like Gotham, but more of a stand in for New York or Chicago. It was only in Batman Begins that I saw some goth and (for me at least) what Batman is, a force of nature fueled by a desire to right the wrongs in Gotham by making his enemies fear him. My reasoning for putting Batman - The Movie from 1966 so high is that it was product of its time and you have to view it through that lens. It was a cultural phenomenon at the time and paved the way for future superhero movies and TV shows, like Spiderman, Wonderwoman (the TV shows) and Superman - The Movie (1978). Yes, its campy and at times silly, but no less of a phenomenon. Burton's Batman was, for me at least, a match made in heaven. Burton's gothic style blends perfectly with the Batman world. Michael Keaton is the perfect Batman and with stars like Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Michael Gough, Jack Palance and Billy Dee Willams you cannot go wrong. It least that's my list.
If you had asked me how I liked The Batman half way through I would have agreed with everything you said. I absolutely loved it! But the second half it begins to fall apart for me. I found the Riddlers motivation to be completely undermined when he decided to flood Gotham. It didn't really make any sense. He spent so long teasing the knowledge he had would through the city into chaos. And that he would completely undermine the corruption through his actions. That was a very compelling motivation for a villian. But then he just gets easily caught. His big reveal is somewhat underwhelming. And then he decides to flood Gotham. But for really no reason. It has nothing to do with exposing corruption. He just wanted to kill lots of people. So he went from a believable, sympathetic villian that would be shaped by the insanity of Gotham, to just a terrorist. And that ending just completely spoiled the film for me. It made it extremely difficult for the film to justify its 3 hour run time! (Good lord movies are too long these days). And left the character of Batman and Bruce Wayne in a boring spot as the ultra virtuistic hero.
I don't fully agree, but I fully understand your reasoning. And that, my friends on the internet, is more important. Life would be better when more people set their differences by reason and understanding.
I was picking up everything you we’re putting down until number two. Personally I think it should be where Batman returns is and Batman 1989 should be where Forever was. Apart from that, this is a completely solid listing and for someone who has privately been ranking these movies for years, it’s wonderful to see this.
Swap BB with Forever and it’s a solid ranking. I watched The Batman recently and wished Nolan would have given us a Riddler based mystery as his finale with that cast, instead of Bane.
Best Batman Movies: 1. The Dark Knight 2. The Batman 3. Batman Begins 4. The Dark Knight Rises 5. Batman 6. Batman Returns 7. Batman v. Superman 8. Batman Show (Adam West)* 9. Batman Forever 10. Batman and Robin Best Batman: 1. Robert Pattinson 2. Christian Bale 3. Michael Keaton 4. Ben Affleck 5. Adam West 6. Val Kilmer 7. George Clooney
For me, Batman 89 and Batman Returns will always be my firm favourites as they were really the Batman movies I grew up with. The Dark Knight trilogy has really grown on me and I loved the new Batman plus Joker.
12. Batman & Robin 11. Justice League 10. Batman V Superman 9. Batman ‘66 8. Batman Forever 7. Zack Snyder’s Justice League 6. The Batman 5. Batman Returns 4. The Dark Knight Rises 3. Batman 2. Batman Begins 1. The Dark Knight 🦇
I love the fact you put batman firever so high on the list. It seems like most of the rankings on youtube are just the same rankings with batman and robin at the bottom, then batman forever, then batman 1989, then batman returns, then dark knight rises, that batman begins, then the batman and at the top is the dark knight. Its like everybody just copy the same list like its an objective thing.
I re watched Batman Forever a few days ago and honestly I agree with you in liking it but for almost opposite reasons, I love Kilmers Batman/Bruce and I could take or leave the villians.
Fair take, and re-watching it he was better than I remembered for sure. Would have been great to have him in a second movie to see where he could take the character.
@@PentexProductions It is a shame to see the deleted scenes they have released because it really seems like Joel Schumacher wanted to make a film that dealt more with Bruce's' inner turmoil and how is rage and want for vengeance was eating him up and how that paralleled Dicks' Journey too. Unfortunately we only get a little taste of that in the movie instead of a proper arc. That said I still really enjoy the film, warts and all!
My favorite Batman and IMO the best 1989 Starring Michael Keaton Jack Nicholson and Kim Basinger. Great sound track and Nicholson chewed up every scene he was in The rest don' t do much for me at all untill the Chris Nolan Trilogy came along The 1960's Adam West film is a childhood favorite of mine sadly no Julie Newmar
My ranking: Batman Begins The Dark Knight The Batman Batman (1989) The Dark Knight Rises Batman Returns Batman Forever Batman (1966) Batman v. Superman Batman & Robin Most people feel The Dark Knight is the best but Batman Begins will always be my #1. It was an excellent origin story and the first time I felt like Hollywood truly took the character seriously, rather than making him a cartoon (whether a campy one or a highly stylized dark one). Tim Burton gave us the first dark and gothic Batman but his stylized approach and the backlot sets give his movies an artificiality to me. Batman Begins was our first grounded, realistic Batman that felt like the character and world I had grown up reading. Batman had a personality and an arc. He disguised his voice and separated the Bruce and Batman personas. Jim Gordon had a more developed role as an honest cop in a dirty city, straight out of Batman: Year One. Alfred was a father figure and more than just a loyal butler with the occasional funny quip. Lucius Fox was incorporated as Batman's Q, fleshing out the supporting cast. And Ra's al Ghul is my favorite super-villain so I was thrilled to finally see him onscreen. Batman Begins is my favorite Batman movie and arguably my favorite superhero movie overall.
1- The Batman 2- Batman Begins 3- Batman Forever 4- Batman 89 5- Batman Returns 6- The Dark Knight 7- The Dark Knight Rises 8- Batman 66 9- Batman and Robin 10 - Batman V Superman 11 - Justice League I grew tired of The Dark Knight over time and think it's a good movie, but not a good Batman one. Forever is better than the Burton movies in my opinion because Burton is all style over substance and all his movies look the same, whereas Forever took risks and went deeper in Bruce's psyche which I think is pretty well done and compelling. Batman and Robin ranks higher as BVS and JL because despite its obvious flaws, at least it knew what it was and didn't try to be deep when it wasn't and it wasn't directed by an edge lord like Snyder :)
That's an interesting take on BvS; most people actually think that Snyder wanted to make a BATMAN movie. But I can see why you say that; Snyder and screenwriter Chris Terrio have stated on multiple occasions that they would have preferred to make a proper Man of Steel sequel, but WB wanted their cinematic universe yesterday so they had to do what they could. And in the Ultimate Edition of BvS, Superman is the one who clearly emerges as the winner in the artistic vision vs. studio meddling fight.
Hmm... So many comments to make on this video. I won't be able to remember everything I wanted to say. Bold pick with Batman Forever. I doubt many will agree with you, but as you said, its your preference. I loved that film as a kid. It was the second film I saw in the theater more than once (4 times, in case you were wondering... which is nothing compared to the 12 times I saw The Dark Knight, twice in IMAX). I also still own the soundtrack. However, it didn't age well for me. I went years without seeing it. I bought it and showed it to my kids for the first time this last year. I was thinking at the least we'd enjoy it's craziness. Yikes... none of us enjoyed it, aside from the throwbacks and nostalgia it gave me. But you do you.
The Dark Knight trilogy is the best version of batman and this is how i tank them 1. THe Dark Knight Rise (Blue tier and above) 2.The Dark Knight (Blue Tirer) 3.Batman Begins (Green Tier)
Hm, I've never given The Batman a chance. Sounds like I should. I hope the romance isn't too bad. I'm a little fed up with romance in action movies. It just always feels out of place. I have legitimately started skipping some of the scenes. But it has never ruined a movie for me, so it'll probably be fine. It'll be interesting to go in with almost no impression of the movie, too. This is the first video I've seen that covers it. Don't think I4ve ever done that with a movie before.
Another additional comment: You must drink a great deal to have Batman Begins anywhere but in the top tier. Dark Knight deserves the top spot, and there's little argument against it. However, Batman Begins clearly deserves to be #2. Batman Forever is is a battle with the 1989 Batman for #3, but I agree it edges out the first modern Batman just because Gotham is such a great character.
Interesting selection, I never seen anyone rank Batman Forever or Adam West Batman so high. Thats cool. For me personally I’ll go with Batman 1989, Batman Returns, Dark Knight, BvS ultimate Edition and JL Snyder Cut as the highest and most enjoyable to me as a Batman fan. The rest even though I did enjoy all of them at some point in my life they don’t appeal to me anymore so I don’t really have a ranking for them and the new The Batman movie I didn’t enjoy at all, the more time passes the more I dislike it. Cinematography is very good but that’s about it for me with that movie, Robert’s performance was horrible. He didn’t look intimidating, he never once made me believe he was Batman. To me it felt he was playing cosplay of Batman nothing more and the fact that its a realistic take on the character also bothered me just as it did with the Nolan movies. Batman in the real world doesn’t work for me. I spent money to watch it because I was optimistic about it and came out disappointed. To me Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck are my true Batman’s
Can't wait to watch batman forever again, because I think I might 100% agree with your take. I think you might be a bit smitten with 'The Batman' movie though. The Riddler is not a good villain, in fact it's the worst villain of all the batman movies. Riddler had some cool set up elements. They don't make him clever enough for you to think he's super smart and they don't make him crazy enough for you to think he's out of his mind. Just a super run of the mil rogues gallery villain. The way he gets caught is so lame. And the reason he gets caught was an actual (brief and quite) laugh out loud moment in the movie theatre for me. The Batman is a good movie I know its more about Batman and world building than the villain, its firmly in the green tier for me .
Surprised you don't think the 1966 film was intended for adults. Also surprised you did not include the two 1940s serials. They were definitely intended for cinema viewing, and were shown as features too.
I disagree about your judgement that Batman '66 was meant only for kids while batman & Robin was meant for adults to enjoy too. They're both kids' movies through and through.
Would you say the Flash qualifies as a Batman film and where would you rank it as a Batman film? I would probably put Batman & Robin, Batman 66, and the second Batman Serial on the red tier Yellow probably would have Forever, Josstice League, BvS (I would put Suicide Squad here, too, or Red) Green probably would have the first Serial, Returns, Begins, Dark Knight, Snyder Cut Blue probably would have TDKR, The Batman, and 89 would take the top spot (and I think Joker would deserve to go on the Blue tier, too). Flash as a Batman film is a hard one to place, either Green or Blue - blue for the fact that you get to see Keaton fight (and technically three Batman are in it - I guess this makes Keaton TM, Clooney AG, and Affleck Tom Holland lol) but I think they overused Elfman's theme and did nothing creative with it nor did they study the rest of Elfman's music for the films, its as if either the composer only knew those 5 notes of the Batman theme (without knowing the other chords) or assumed that was only part of score that was recognizable to fans and the public. The first scene with Keaton was a little weak -- whereas I thought the humor for the film was okay I didn't think that humor fit Keaton -- they should have read the Justice League International comics of 89 as that batman was drawn as Keaton and that is a better example of how to incorporate humor to Batman- I also hear that that scene was edited considerably and that a lot of dialogue cut was the fill in the blanks between Returns and Flash-- which I for one was left in wanting when watching the film- so what have you been up to since 92--- um, not much, really. I also think they missed a big opportunity for Keaton's Batman either being connected to Reeve's Superman or Cage's Superman and more could have been done on world building and connective tissue - for example, one of the givens in each universe is that there is a Justice League and they could have a had a lot of fun with trying to imagine the different JLAs and who would have fit where, like if Cage was meant to be the Burton-verse's Superman, for example, then who would have been Burton's Flash and Wonder Woman? Likewise, instead of cutting out Keaton's monologue they could have instead given us maybe a minute's worth or 30 seconds worth of flashbacks establishing what Burton's Forever would have looked like (asking Billy Dee Williams to come back to cameo as Two-Face for example). So great nostalgia and great to see Keaton but also missed opportunities.
One additional ranking comment (In addition expressing a justifiable derision of Ben Asscrack) The Dark Knight Rises does NOT deserve to be in the Green Tier, it rightly deserves to be in the Yellow Tier. You say it deserves to be Green because it wraps up the Christopher Nolan Trilogy, but it does so in SUCH a shitty way, it needs to be a level below. It sucks so bad it needs to be reviled.
I love The Batman for the perfect adaptation of the dark Batman stories. The cinematography and acting is top notch. The Synder Cut is a fantastic movie and very unique and artistic. Batman Vs Superman is nostalgic and the fighting choreography is superb along with Batmans perfectly designed suit and Batmobile The Dark Knight is great because of the portrayal and acting of Joker and Harvey Dent. The Dark Knight Rises is super good but not as enjoyable as the Dark Knight. Batman Begins is a fantastic Batman movie with some stilted dialogue but a solid version of Bruce Wayne putting him at the centre. Haven’t seen the rest.
I recently wanted to search for this video as I missed it the first time round, so having forgotten your name via multiple glasses of booze I searched for, "kiwi blue penquin batman movies". I am remiss to say I was unable to find your channel, and I hope this is remedied in the future through the addition of the very important tag, "kiwi blue penquin". Best regards
Batman 1966 - I'm going to disagree with you here, with respect to it being aimed at children. While kids may have enjoyed it, the humor was most definitely aimed at the adults.
ADAM WEST series 10/10 Loved! BATMAN 1989 6/10 Good, but not perfect. B RETURNS ✝10/10 ✝ Knew to not go to any extreme. ✝ B FOREVER 5/10 Well, it could have been worse! B AND ROBIN 3/10 At least it wasn't WOKE. BATMAN/SUPERMAN 8/10 Dissension between heroes! RETURN OF THE JOKER 🏮 9/10 🏮 Disturbingly believable. 🏮 BATMAN BEGINS 8/10 Not the best, but it could have been worse. DARK KNIGHT 7/10 Too extreme. RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS 10/10 Great Reunion! BATMAN VS TWO FACE 10/10 Better than it had a right to be. JOKER 9/10 Long overdue. THE BATMAN WOKE! Don't care! It hates Batman!
I think you need to watch Batman ‘66 again as an adult. It’s 2 different films, 1 for kids and its the best Batman film as that, one for adults and it’s the most fun Batman film for that.
Agree completely - you have to see it as a comedy, and it's brilliant for that reason. A reason I like BF so much is it manages to use some of those more outlandish and comedic elements but put them into a more 'serious' Batman story.
The Batman was fantastic, and I agree that they shouldn’t have put the Joker in at the end. Now the sequel will be (to borrow your words) shackled to this continuity instead surprising us with something more thought out. My rankings aren’t too different from yours, though I would have switched BF & the Snyder Cut’s places. Anyway, let me just end with: How about that new funeral dirge Batman theme? Seeing our hero beating up everyone in sight while that played was exhilarating!
The score was astounding in this movie; it's slow pace accompanied by the really slow movement of the camera towards the shadows where Batman may or may not be lurking... So great!
4:44 Glad you said this. Not a popular opinion but although I think Ben Affleck is a moron as a human being, I love his portrayal of Batman. The three "Batman's I most like are Ben Affleck, Christian Bale and Michael Keaton (I haven't see the Robert Pattinson yet and though I've heard it got great reviews.... I'm really worried that they wrote it to appeal to little kiddies thus the "emo batman" thing and that it will only appeal to kiddies who think emo is anything other than a whiney childish thing) But I will try my best to watch it with a blank slate and give it a chance. But the point of this comment was that Ben Affleck did a great job.
I would place the Val Kilmer Batman film as the 2nd to worst Batman Film and the George Clooney as the worst. Other than that one reorder I think your list is pretty good. To be clear... George Clooney is the worst Batman ever, Val Kilmer the second worst.
1, Batman 89' 2 Batman begins , i cant be fuked with dark knight rises or any of that shit his deep voice is overdone also , joker was better in the first movie.
when the Nolan trilogy was finished, I believed that the Dark Knight was the best one of the three. but as the years went on I soon realise that they weren't really batman films as they were to realistic in the sense that if Batman was real, this would what he would be like. But Batman isn't real. Batman Begins in my opinion is a better Batman film of the three as it has more themes that are closer to Batman. The Dark Knight is a Gangster Flick with Batman along for the ride.. Joker was the best part of the film and for that many people say its the best Batman film. at the time i would of agreed but looking back now its only good because of Heath Ledger portray of the Joker. The city in the Dark Knight could of been any city.. Its has no resemblance to Gotham City what so ever so that is a big downgrade in marking for me. As i said at the beginning, the nolan films are really good but for me they are not comic book films. i still prefer the syndercut over the Nolan Trilogy but i have to Say The Batman is hands down the best comic book Batman film to date. Still enjoyed the Vidoe those and respected your opinions and ratings 🙂
Totally respect that opinion on the Nolan films, and can see why people prefer the more fantastical take on the character. Something I loved about The Batman was how they made Gotham feel so real, yet unique. It didn't feel like Chicago, or like the crazy Burton Gotham....but it was still Gotham.
Let me know what your Batman rankings are! My tier definitions are:
Red Tier - Bad movies
Yellow Tier - Flawed but entertaining

The Batman was an okay movie but I wouldnt put it in the god tier. The third act doesn't really work at all and Batman does really weird things like car chase.
@@purefoldnz3070 It was okay for you, but it was great for others

Michael Keaton is the GOAT, and I will die on this hill.
Michael Keaton may be, but I think his two films are surpassed by the Nolan trilogy.
i personally just to see a Batman Begins films with Keaton as old man Bruce Wayne.
Adam West kept Batman Alive without that bar set, The 80's Batman would not have had the same contrast.
I’m glad to see someone who likes Batman forever as much as I do. Great ranking
Great Batman Forever placement.
X-Men in 2000 and even Blade would like to talk about the Spider-Man claim. Still, a respectable list.
3:12. With all due respect to Sam Raimi, and notwithstanding the MeToo cloud hanging over his head, it was Bryan Singer and X-Men in 2000 that saved the genre.
omg FINALLY someone who appreciated Batman Forever as much as i do
Disagree with a few points of your ranking. I thought Batman (1966) was made for adults and children in a manner similar to classic Looney Tunes cartoons. Batman and Robin is just unreawatchable crap. Even though I disagree with some of your placement they were reasoned. Sub earned.
I think Selina and Annika were just friends. “Baby” was a term of endearment
Batman Forever is my favorite Batman and you ranked it so high I subbed.
I loved Forever too, nice to see is recieving love.
Love for Batman Forever warms my heart. Great video!
Great ranking! Saw The Batman too last week. I also liked it. Wouldnt say it was better than The Dark Knight though! But both really good movies. Hope Nolan does that magic too Bond one day!
Nolan Bond would be really intriguing for sure - Tenet was his rehearsal!
Surely that HAS to happen. Martin Campbell did a superb job with Goldeneye and Casino Royale, but Nolan's take on the character would be a whole new experience. I hope to see it.
Batman Forever is without doubt, the most fun -- and faithful to the character's mythos -- film in the franchise.
1000% agree. I love Batman forever and that’s goes back to being a kid watching over and over! Then as a adult watching dark knight over and over
First off, OUTSTANDING review.

1. Of Course - THE DORK KNIGHT (Epic classic in so many ways)
At least you admit you placed Batman Forever WAY too damn high. I liked it. Was good but not GREAT.

first one with Michael Keaton, Keaton got both Bruce Wayne and Batman, Jack Nicholson far superior to Heath Ledger as the Joker, the atmosphere and sets were great.
However, there 2 other movies, actually 3 but let me explain:
2022 Batman
It is a slow burner, and not everyone's cake, but I really love it.
Like Snyders Justice League, I watched it now multiple times and it just doesn't get boring - just discover new stuff every time I watch it.
Then, I have to walk into Animations, and there is one, what stands out for me: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 & 2
Seeing an old, retired Batman what has disappeared from the face of Gotham, returning is just great.
Jes, Batman & Robin is terrible, but it is so damn quotable.
Under the Red Hood is the best Batman movie

6. Batman 66
7. The Dark Knight Rises

12. Batman & Robin
11. Justice League (Wheadon)
10. Justice League (Snyder)
9. Batman v Superman (can you tell I'm not a huge fan of Snyderverse?)
8. The Dark Knight Rises
7. Batman Begins (this would get higher for me if not for that headache inducing editing)
6. Batman '66
5. The Dark Knight
4. Batman Forerver (I agree, it's very entertaining)
3. The Batman (it's been few months, I feel okay putting it here)
2. Batman '89
Word. When you're gonna review movie, you're supposed to review the movie itself lol.
Batman (89) is for me god tier. No questions asked. Also, after thinking about The Batman for a while I think it lands pretty easily in the green tier, not god tier.
And I approve of Batman Forever. Its just pure fun and holds up pretty well at that.
Very nice. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Hope you enjoy it - check out the end and let me know what you think when you've seen it!
@@PentexProductions yes very much enjoyed the video! I will try to remember to comment back once I see it. Keep up the good work!

1: Batman (1989)
Some people may disagree about The Dark Knight.
Apparently I am 8 years old.
You and me both.

Solid list, but not feeling #2... 😮 But I would just like to reiterate how bloody marvelous Dark Knight is, just SO good!!
I re watched Batman Forever a few days ago and honestly I agree with you in liking it but for almost opposite reasons, I love Kilmers Batman/Bruce and I could take or leave the villians.
Wished Kilmer had another crack at the role.
Great sound track and Nicholson chewed up every scene he was in

My ranking:

Most people feel The Dark Knight is the best but Batman Begins will always be my #1.
Strong argument for Begins - it's a great Batman film for sure.
AFAIK, they never state Anya was Selina's girlfriend. She's just a friend.
I'm so glad you put Batman Forever as #2. That movie does not get the credit it deserves. VERY underrated!
Yes it is a silly movie, but in the best way.
1- The Batman
2- Batman Begins
3- Batman Forever
4- Batman 89
5- Batman Returns
6- The Dark Knight
7- The Dark Knight Rises
8- Batman 66
9- Batman and Robin
10 - Batman V Superman
11 - Justice League
I grew tired of The Dark Knight over time and think it's a good movie, but not a good Batman one.
The Dark Knight trilogy is the best version of batman and this is how i tank them
1. THe Dark Knight Rise (Blue tier and above)
2.The Dark Knight (Blue Tirer)
3.Batman Begins (Green Tier)
I guess I just always do fine with watching long movies! I was never taken out of ZS's Justice League because of its length until the Joker showed up!
I can’t believe the movies you chose to put in G-d tier, besides the Dark Knight returns ofc it deserves that position
As flawed as the Schumacher films are, I probably watched them hundreds of times when I was a kid. The VHS’s I would just watch on repeat.
Absurd that Batman is not in the Blue tier.
And Batman forever in the God tier? Wow... No words.
The list is totally reasonable. Every movie has reasons why it is in the spot it is.
Thanks - I appreciate people will disagree for their own reasons, but hopefully it justifies why I've ranked them the way I have.
I would probably put Batman & Robin, Batman 66, and the second Batman Serial on the red tier
Yellow probably would have Forever, Josstice League, BvS (I would put Suicide Squad here, too, or Red)
Green probably would have the first Serial, Returns, Begins, Dark Knight, Snyder Cut
Blue probably would have TDKR, The Batman, and 89 would take the top spot (and I think Joker would deserve to go on the Blue tier, too).
Dark Knight
Batman Begins
Dark Knight Rises
Batman 89
The Batman
Batman Forever
Batman Returns
Justice League
BvsS
Batman and Robin
Batman Vs Superman is nostalgic and the fighting choreography is superb along with Batmans perfectly designed suit and Batmobile
The Dark Knight is great because of the portrayal and acting of Joker and Harvey Dent.
I'll add it to the tags list! I can't imagine there are many other channels that fit that description!
Batman 1966 - I'm going to disagree with you here, with respect to it being aimed at children. While kids may have enjoyed it, the humor was most definitely aimed at the adults.
I Like These Rankings... :D!!!
The 1960s Batman movie with Adam West is by far and away the best. That is all. The worst? Easily the most recent one.
ADAM WEST series 10/10 Loved!
BATMAN 1989 6/10 Good, but not perfect.
B RETURNS ✝10/10 ✝ Knew to not go to any extreme. ✝
B FOREVER 5/10 Well, it could have been worse!
B AND ROBIN 3/10 At least it wasn't WOKE.
BATMAN/SUPERMAN 8/10 Dissension between heroes!
RETURN OF THE JOKER 🏮 9/10 🏮 Disturbingly believable. 🏮
BATMAN BEGINS 8/10 Not the best, but it could have been worse.
So great!
Batman Forever? OMG!
