This was great - thank you! I have done a lot of pole, dance, some lyra, and one 60 min beginner silks class where we did a lot of fun moves, but didn't learn climbing. I just started another class and the climb was very non-intuitive for me. I totally overused my upper body, basically doing a bunch of sloppy pull-ups with my foot sort of wrapped with little fabric tension. I'm sure it was just gorgeous to watch lol. I was not lifting my lower body when transferring weight, so my legs would just go to the floor :) I also was trying to start from a pull up position, which gave me no where to go, and didn't allow any tension in the fabric to use to actually climb. I am also not used to flexing my feet and had my top foot in the wrong place. So many details! I'm glad I watched this and really look forward to trying it again. I was making it way harder than it probably is.
Thank you so much this actually helped me when I first started aerial silks I could barely get off the ground and after I watched this video I finally can get to the top and I’ve been doing this for almost 3 months now!!
It's funny - where I'm from (Germany) we use a different technique, but all over the internet I find this one. We have the silk on our right side an then use our left foot to hook around the silk under our right foot and then put our left foot (and silk) on our right - trapping the silk in between to prevent slipping. Have you come across this before/ do you know why "your" version is more widely practiced?
What you're describing sounds like something my silks teacher calls "russian climb" which I personally like more than the classic climb but it's a little bit more technical in the beginning which I assume is why the classic one is more common :)
Yeah my teacher taught the one you’re describing as a Russian climb, and the one she teaches in the video is a Dancer climber. I think the dancer climb is a little bit easier for people who are completely new to silks to learn because of the simplicity of steps. Although personally I prefer Russian climb, it feels more secure.
Thank you so much 😊 I've been really struggling with climbing but I really want to be able to do it because for a performance I am probably gonna do a 360 drop but it would probably look awkward from close to the ground so I'm really gonna try to be able to climb 😊 thank you for this vid it really cleared things up 😁
Thank you so much for this video after watching it I was finally after much struggle and many classes able to climb but then next class after that I wasn’t able to climb anymore,I was struggling again to climb so strange ..
How much more is on your pay for videos, I love your videos but would love more in terms of general technique and foundation, I love silks and your videos have been amazing 💖
I'm not her, but I would say no. If you are learning silks, you must have a trained professsional with you. Once you learn something in a class, but don't understand it too well, THEN you take her classes

I’m just casually doing this with sheets on my brothers pull up bar 😂
underella haha!!! 🤣 Great idea! I was looking around trying to figure out how to practice this at home!!!
Ella Kathleen I’m casually doing this with sheets tied to a horizontal pole in my backyard😂😂
SAME about there is no bar-
Thanks for the idea! My “bar” will have to be a tree branch though
Omg same I was looking how to make one but I couldn't find any videos so then I saw my brother's pull up bar 🤣🤣🤣
IT F R EAKING SLIPS OFF MY FOOT
just add some friction SAMEEE
That means you should flex your bottom foot harder, and make sure the ball of your top foot is pressed into the bend of your ankle HARD
Lauryn Howell My problem is that i do flex, just the silk slips up towards my ankle
@@emmarae6210 that's where it should be
jsjsjs Omg same! I think im doing something wrong cuz im using my arms the whole time and it feels like im standing on air haha

mentioned and shown here: ua-cam.com/video/ZNUguFnczBw/v-deo.htmlm36s
That is done here, and at the place it's called the underwrap. It's another option for climbing that's quick.

Try “Russian climbing”
It’s so hard 😭
Can I use your classes instead of real classes like instead of going to actual places I could just buy silks and pay for your classes?

you did it to fast for me to get it
My body, is physically not strong enough to hold myself up.
