I was a kid when Cinerama 1st came out...The Roller Coaster ads on T.V. & newspapers had me hooked & wanting to see this new format..The 1st Cinerama film with the Coaster ad did a 2 year run in just one theater. People could not get enough of this marvel...
I was a kid when Cinerama came to France at the Paris Empire theater in 1955. My parents took the whole family to see "This Cinerama". I found that fantastic, I rember grabbing my chair arms during the scenic railways sequence ! Later I saw all the real Cinerama films (3 strips) but the Brothers Grimm. I also saw two Kinopanorama films, the soviet copy of Cinerama at the Paris Kinopanorama theater. Unfortunatly the three strips system has been dropped in favour of Ultra Panavision on 70mm film, but the shooting angle wasn't wide enough to provide the cinerama effect, and this caused the decline of Cinerama. I have seen many other film process : Todd AO, Super Panavision, Showscan and different kinds of Imax '2D and 3D, dome or flat screen), but none ever matched the three strips Cinerama ! All Cinerama films have been issued on blu ray by Filcker Alley, I bought them all, but my 55" screen is far to small to fully enjoy them.
Cinerama was and still is the most important and impacting widescreen movie system ever created. Nothing equals, not even IMAX the wonderful sensation that Cinerama caused on its audiences,
I think the latest Cinerama is a movie theater with a digital screen equipped with 16K micro LEDs arranged on a curved surface for exclusive use of images, modeled after the Sphere built in Las Vegas. You should be able to easily create this shot using Apple Vision Pro. Therefore, I would like them to build a new Cinerama theater in Hollywood and then expand it internationally.
You forgot to mention the first ever plot film made using the three projectors Cinerama system. It was THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF THE BROTHERS GRIMM. It was made before How the West Was Won but it was shown some time after HTWWW was presented.

Its funny how the man who created "King Kong" also helped create Cinerama.

There is still room for it to come back big! It just needs a little extra nudge🐨
