The $375 Trail Running Shoe | Speedland SL:PDX Introduction and Overview
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 чер 2021
- Thomas talks to Speedland founder Kevin Fallon and Speedland athlete Don Reichelt about the design and creation of the Speedland SL:PDX - a $375 (yes, you read that correct) trail shoe. Or as they say - trail equipment. Definitely an interesting take on redefining trail footwear, using premium components that are customizable. What do you think?

We run legit miles in our shoes and provide honest, no BS reviews of running shoes, running gear, and running races. - Спорт
I wish them good luck and hope that they make something more affordable in the future for those runners that don't have that kind of money.
This reminds me of when Kofuzi reviewed that Tracksmith $300 windbreaker... Cool features but this price point is a hard pass haha.
Hah, yeah. $375 is more than the entirety of my most expensive winter outfit, including my Garmin, shoes, 2-4 upper layers, pants, and sunglasses...
That's about how much I paid for my last 4 pairs of running shoes, and that's from deal hunting as they're all mid-tier shoes from the big name brands, not ultra-cheap crap.
I get that it's a new and tiny brand so their economies of scale are...non-existent and that they're using super high end materials, but it just seems like exceedingly few people are going to be able to justify the cost. Then again, a lot of people said similar things when Nike released their first >$200 'supershoes' and now lots of people spend $250+ on carbon plated road racers, so these may actually sell.
In all honesty I can’t believe it costs more than the alphafly and vaporfly !!!!
One of the best videos thus far
All the best for speedland. Nice shoes
Love you show the flesh of the shoe and the building...!!Well done for you guys doing this video...
Interesting to see some insight into the R&D process of a shoe.
375$ and they encourage you to cut/customize thr lug depth?! Haha very cheeky guys. Now I need multiple pairs to maximize the utility of the shoe.
I like the midsole technology, especially the detachable plate.
Only pair of shoes that I’ve felt the sole and they’re literally “sticky”. That term gets thrown around a lot but DANG Speedland made the GOAT outsole.
The insight into this shoe is great. However, adjusting the lugs to each course means having separate pairs of shoes for each race and that that price point is just silly. That said, I wish all the best to Speedland
Very interesting features and clearly thoughtful design, but damn that price!
Love this shoes so much really wish I had the money to buy
These are fricken beautiful!! If they performed as good as they look 🤔🤔 could be worth it
Does it come with a happy ending?
Only $375 !?
I feel in near future we will have to sell our kidneys to buy pair of running shoes.
Thanks for the review….and good luck to the company….but like he used to say many times “weird”:-)
I can tell you now my senior programmer has bought a pair of these to try out around Cougar Mountain and Mount Si: that will be a real test to see if the shoes are "built up to a standard, not down to a price".
Do you personally own him?
@@brianogrady9883 Not anymore, he's now the property of his wife.
How stable does the shoe feel?...what kind of width we talking about in the toe box?
At this moment, price is high for sure. But imagine guys, that they just launched a brand with one single model. Even at this price point they are going to be on the other end of the profit spectrum for a very long time !
Secondly, I'd rather see people spending 375$ on a pair of running shoes, than 1000 on a Garmin watch, 1500 on an iphone, 500 a month on alcohol and cigarettes and so on.
I also think, that there might be some special demand at the beginning and for sure they will be selling out quickly.
The most important to remember will be the reviews, articles, videos on how the shoes perform, how they hold up, how they are lasting. Cause if those external seams and the BOA system will fail after technical mountain outings, if those lugs won't grip better than a Sportiva FrictionX or a Vibram, if the size of the platform will work only for runners under 65kg, if the sizing is off or the toe-box is shaped only for the runners who developed the shoe, well they will be in trouble.
Look at how Atreyu is going well. It is possible to enter a saturated market with something extraordinaire and different. I wish them luck and hope that it will be available in Europe to give it a try soon!
$375🤔… don’t think kanye does trail running..
Honestly! Way too expensive I wonder how many will really buy these……would rather buy nike Vaporfly instead of these…
New nickname..."Speezys"
Same price as a mid-high price cycling shoe. If it holds up to initial reviews I’d give it a try.
A really good looking shoe! Nice colour way and great idea on customised lug. Only the price.. sooo crazy. Unfortunately, a pass due to the price.
Where can I purchase?
nope...I'll get 3 Solomons instead
Was super excited until I seen the price! Bet they are still made overseas somewhere to be cost effective for them though.
Hoka-Nike-Salomon-North Face… “No stress keep our trail shoes within a reachable price point so we can still pay entry fees” Thanks “smile everyone its the weekend”
Wow..........
375$ ?? Is this a shoe with a vibranium or adamantium plate in the midsole?
It better give me superpowers!
What is background/ rationale of such price? Different eva/ rubber...come on..
Looks like a race shoe for buff out trails, perhaps 50K race?
For sure, could really work for any condition depending on the lug pattern
Everyone is a pro nowadays with the almighty carbon. 375, and BOA? I guess I’m lagging wayyy behind.
i don’t mine lagging if it means not paying $375 for one pair of shoes.
As marvellous as lug trimming no doubt is, for 300 odd quid I’d need some aesthetic pleasure. The dials on the side not giving me that.
Looks like the scotts
You can literally buy an entire trail running shoe rotation…
very salomon-ish... oh, and there are hypebeasts who actually use vaporflys and alphaflys as casual shoes. hypebeasts gonna hype.
375$...i'm sure hollywood will like them :)
$375 means it doesn't matter what this shoe is like. It's not the best, so it can't command that price point and get away with it. This shoe will ultimately fail. Good for BITR to get some paid promotion, but that's the only reason this shoe is even getting air time.
Nice, a $375 shoe that you have to customize yourself and cut of the lugs, with every chance of screwing it up or cutting too much. No thanks.
The only explanation for the current price is that they must have a plywood plate embedded in the midsole. Inflation sucks! Thanks Biden! ;-)
Ffs
Second
$375.00 for that🤣😂🤣😆
First
This is such a non-starter lol
Lol this clown.
Capitalism is a wonderful thing. You can transfer some plastic and rubber in machine to a shoe and require $ 375 for it !
On the other end, there’ll be no demand at that price!
