How to Make a Pickable Nose for Fursuits (canine)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2024
- I'm SO excited to present a tutorial for how I made a pickable nose!! This is only my 2nd one I've ever done and I like how I decided to go about it. Let me know if it works for you!!!
I have seen a couple other pickable nose tutorials on youtube, but I found a different way that works for me! Doing it my way means NO ladder stitching from the outside of the nostrils and hoping it comes out tight and neat - all the important seams are sewn from the inside where it's easier!
The steps here could be used to make other species' pickable noses, like cats, dragons, cows... but I do plan on making tutorials for other species as soon as I'm able to! I DO have plans to make a reindeer in a few months (waiting on fur samples...), so I will definitely make a tutorial on his pickable nose too.

I’ve never wanted my fursuit to have a pickable nose
*until now*
hehehe!!! sometimes seeing something shown off really awakens a desire for it XD
Freckled Cat Creations true that!!
here before this is famous :)
@@corpse5905 WOOO
Same I've never seen that much of a point in them but holy god this is some advanced fursuit making right here
i honestly didnt know how pickable noses were done, they just seemed impossible but after watching this it looks 10x more easier than i expected
it really wasnt that bad, i thought it would be worse too XD
Same lol 😂
I know right?
I’m not even a furry I just find this incredibly relaxing to watch. Edit: So you guys might've been right...
Ahem... Stage one: *DENIAL*
Stage one: *DENIAL*
stage one: *denial* trust me my friend I was in your position last year ;)
Just wait til you find the long-fur shaving videos for fursuits.
I'm a furry-lite I guess? (I like animal parts but not anthro animals) and this is still fun/relaxing to watch
Buatiful I can’t wait till I have enough to commission u!
Same!
yall are too sweet THANK YOUUUUU

GIMME GIMME GIMME!
I made my first fursuit as a rockstar foxy head, feet, and parrot. I didn't know it was a fursuit so I just winged it. It was bad, very very bad. I made every mistake in the book. It was cardboard, was not measured well so I had to look threw the snout, it had horrible ventilation, and the DIY moving i made looked like trash. Now I know the horrible wrongs I have made and am using your amazing tutorials to improve, thank you for existing.
omg youre so welcome!!! i'm happy they helped!!! i love fnaf, good luck on your new costumes when you make em!!!!
Why thank you, also IF I how but I've been a furry since I was in kindergarten and haven't heard of the random in till recently, also apparently my dad's also been a furry, yea, don't ask how this happened...
IF I Is supposed to be idk , yea my tablet is stupid
I’ve needed this tutorial for so long! Bless your soul for doing this
Glad it was helpful!!
I want to make a fursuit head, but I don't have enough room, or the materials. What should I do? I decided to come to you for answers when I saw you uploaded.. Sorry! 😅
as for making room, only thing i can think of is organize your room some so that you have more free space! and walmart has $40 long plastic tables you can buy to work on.
materials: if you save up about $200 from chores or birthday etc, you can make a simple mini partial!
@@freckledcatcreations thank you! We are cleaning my room now, so I can have a new dresser :0
Leopard Gecko Loves Cola, you can get Jurassic World raptor masks and paint them 😊 +It takes up less room and you can fur them!
I’m not the person who made this video but actually I spent only about $100 making my first partial- you can get a nice roll of 1 inch foam for about 20 on Amazon!! The most expensive part is the fur. As for making room honestly I just gave up on having a clean room once I started making fursuits. There’s always gonna be scraps of fabric everywhere now. Just make sure to vacuum every few days to get all the little hairs and pieces of foam off the floor :)
@@stinky59 that is probably unintentionally helpful to me for the price of making one
Thanks!

i have something to say!
even with a lot of subs, you don’t nearly get the recognition you deserve. you make such amazing tutorials, and you really seem to pay attention to comments! you’re very nice and so is your content, thank you for that!
You flatter me so much, thank you!!!! yeah I'm just trying to get word out there that I am putting this info out! Its important to know! hopefully one day i'll be well known X3
Freckled Cat Creations np! i really hope you will too!
I really like noses that have holes that you can put a straw through to drink it can make for some goofy photos
oh absolutely!!! looking forward to trying that on one of my personal heads XD
I wanna put candy in one of those and when i see children i will pull a whole lolipop out of my nose
YESSS hahaha i love it!!
Omg that’ll look so cute like a kid walks up and you pull it out of the nose
OH MY GORSH YEA DO IT-
THIS IS THE BEST IDEA IN THE WORLD- I NEED TO DO THIS TOO!!!
@@Tan-nz5tv maybe put a bit of green slime in there to scare the children at halloween haha
surprised you don't have more followers yet! your work is extremely stellar, and definitely helps for those less experienced!
Wow, thank you!!!!
I just watched a tutorial on how to make the nose, why am I still in awe of the nose?
It’s cute ;w;
Your tutorials are one of a kind! It's great to see people making tutorials of the things that you wouldn't first think of! I'm also surprised at your high quality, it seems you take every commission an opportunity to teach people or learn something yourself!
I absolutely do, i'm so happy you love my stuff!!!!
@@freckledcatcreations Thank you for making all these tutorials, Way more people than you think appreciate it!
@@EliasPluto you're so welcome!!! its really so validating getting to see my youtube comments seeing i helped people.... can't thank yall enough !!!
@@freckledcatcreations :D
if i'd wait for a BIT longer FFS, Thanks for the tuto, I'll use this as a help when I make more suits
awwww dangit, i'm a bit too late!!!! D: but good luck on your other noses!!!!
I have legit been struggling with this for ages, but with a cat nose.. This makes it so much clearer!! thanks so much for the tutorial!!
You're so welcome! Let me know if you're able to do it with a cat nose, I'm wanting to test it out in the future but can't just yet haha.
Finally, someone else who sews by hand!
i thought most makers hand sew their heads !
@@freckledcatcreations That's probably true considering I don't know a ton about the fandom, but you're the only person I watch who has
I don't have enough money and im kinda too young to be a furry but I still want a fursuit and I'm looking for these tutorials. This seems reliable. Thanks for making this :D
You can't be too young to be a furry, I've been a furry since I was 9! As long as you like anthropomorphic animals and want to consider yourself a furry, then you are one!
I looove your tutorials! They are so perfectly detailed, and you explain the more difficult parts in depth.
Thank you so much!
I'm not a furry but I enjoy watching these.
Stage 1 is denial... *one of us*
Now this is the content I’ve been searching for
That brace is so smooth
Great a pickable nose! Now Tom can finally make his dream come true
I know this was posted a year ago but it's still extremely helpful! I have a suit head that's made of plastic, which in turn the face doesn't have much space. Best ventilation: nose. Some from the eyes and mouth, but this gave me a good idea how I can work on it. Glad you where the first suggested video! And giving tips for those who do hand sew, I thank you, personally like hand sewing on face fur and sewing machines broken.
Glad I could help!!! i love getting comments on old videos actually
Fun fact: your the reason I found out about the furry fandom, I was watching memes and for some reason I got recommended your how to fur a head vid, and every MAKERS YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF vid I recommend people come check you out, I've seen stuff that doesn't look as good for more. You do some professional work here.
oh my goodness that's such a compliment!!!!! thank you so much!!!!!! this made my morning
hey freckled cat! i used this tut for my feline head and it worked just fine! i added a squeaker and i gotta say, this is one of the *best* pickable nose tutorials i've seen. thank you so much for making this easy to follow tutorial! :))
omg that means a lot to me!!! thank you so much!!!
@@freckledcatcreations your welcome!
WHERE WAS THIS WHEN I NEEDED IT FORREAL 💀🤦♀️
Gosh, thank you so much for this tutorial! You make it so easy to understand and follow, wether you’re a beginner or professional. I’m making my first suit (a partial one) and already have the foam base complete, and I’m literally making the nose as we speak lol. Since this’ll be my first/last Fursuit for a while, I want to go sort of ambitious, but not too over the top, and I think the nose is achievable for me :)
Gah I just love your tutorials!
ahh wonderful! good luck!!!
The foam is so smooth it literally blends together
thank you!!
When I make a canine I’ll keep this in mind! Could you do a digigrade leg tutorial sometime in the future?
I'm only in the middle of making my first ever bodysuit, and i'm currently uploading the timelapse of it in many parts (the goat videos) ! it could maybe be used as a tutorial, but it doesnt go into much detail. if you wanna wait a bit, Im hoping to start another digitigrade commission in the late spring and i will definitely turn that into a fully detailed tutorial!
@Freckled Cat Creations yeah that works!! Take your time c:
My sona doesnt even have a nose but this is really neat to see!! kinda makes me wish they did so I could have included this when I made my head lol. Great tutorial :D
Just want to say that stitch work is impeccable.
omg, that's so flattering!!!!!!! thank you so much!!!!
I need a fursuit ear plug tutorial! Yours are super simple and easy to understand so I was hoping you had a good tutorial for us newer makers to follow😊
If I ever make any actual plugs I'll record it! These were just basically big earrings that stuck on via magnets lol. Im so glad you think theyre easy to understand! thats my goal!!
@@freckledcatcreations ooh that’s smart, I may try something like that🧐 and yeah for sure!!
I wish i had known this sooner! This video is a lifesaver. Thank you for making this!!
Glad it was helpful!
AAA this nose and head in general is gorgeous!!! I have made my one head with foam board for support and LOTS of layered fleece, but real foam is coming in the mail so I can make a proper head. I can’t wait!
aw thank you so much!!!!! i'm really proud of how clean they came out!
This is one of the best tutorials I've found on fursuitmaking at all, as it shows how to do so much more than just the nose.
Great job :)
You're very welcome!!! so glad you liked it!!!
That head is so satisfying to look at
Wow thanks for the tutorial!!! And awesome head as always, and I feel the same it’s satisfying to watch someone sew a seem closed.
You are so welcome!!!!
Why don’t more makers use washable markers?? Seems better than sharpies tbh. Even if they do bleed when you wash the suit it will be completely gone.
absolutely yes!!!! i worry so much when I see sharpies used since fursuit spray is alcohol based and would make them run... I'm really enjoying the crayola washable ones.
I always use chalk instead of markers. When you cut out your pieces you can just blow/wipe it off!
@@minicloud737 I personally have a hate relationship with chalk, I dislike how you can't get a very sharp line for chalk most of the time, and my hands are always dry already so chalk makes it worse XD I'm happy it works for you!
@@freckledcatcreations i've used chalk when im making plushies and it always wipes off while im cutting out the pieces, and im not confident enough with me sewing to put them into the wash and have them come out in one piece lol (also i just found your channel and i love it!)
@@freckledcatcreations Could you send a link to what markers you're using? I've been struggling to find proper ones. ^^"
Wow! I'm so inspired to make a fursuit
This is rlly good, I have a aurochs fursona and he has a nose ring, and this will make it look so much better
ahh wonderful!
Great tutorial! I like that you included the stitches you used. A lot of tutorials don't talk about stuff like this because it's basic knowledge but for newer fursuit makers this might be new information and a lifesafer, haha! Keep up the good work~
Thank you so much! glad it was helpful!!! yeah i definitely notice when a tutorial doesnt explain everything X3 so i wanted to make a point to explain it all.
@@freckledcatcreations Yeah haha, back when i was making my first fursuit (at the beginning of 2016) the number of tutorials was WAY lower than nowadays and pretty much all of them were incomplete. It was a lot of work getting all the info i need, so i'm always happy to see in depth tutorials ^^
@@AnukaCat i totally agree!!!
You made this right when I'm making my suit ☺️
Me, not a furry but just watches furry stuff for the heck of it cause fluff: 👁️👄👁️ Nice!
Edit November 2020: Yeah I'm pretty sure I might be a furry lol.
You are very helpful, I am grateful you make daily videos teaching us.
YOUR SO TALENTED OMG
i know i commented on another video of yours like 2 years ago about a fursuit i was making 😭 im sure you don’t remember me lol but i actually did start making a fursuit, it’s a fox, and this tutorial is really helpful!!! in fact, all of your tutorials in the past have motivated me to finally start actually making a fursuit head. thank you!!!
I'm so glad its helping you!!! yay!!
Cant wait until im old enough to commission you for your awesome work 🙏🏻
Thank you so much 😀
DISCLAIMER: don't stick real boogers in the nose! It will ruin the suit.
Wait how did you find that out?
I love this! Don’t think I’d ever make it but it was really fun to watch!
aw thank you for watching!!! honestly i love watching people make stuff on youtube X3
Furries STOP MAKING ME WANT TO BUY A FURSUIT I'M NOT A IDOL YET
1:32 okay but the timing of the scissor cutting matched perfectly to the music like exactly on beat,,, anyone else notice that🤣
Me who is not a furry: this'll be useful for my project--..... uhm.... well....It's still cool!
I'm so glad I came across this video! Thank you so much for the tutorial!! I did not know how they were done! thanks!!!!
You are so welcome!
I feel like you need over 3.M subs
Edit: New sub!
Thanks for subbing!
I also love when people finish seams-
If you don't want your end threads to show, sometimes you can also tie it off before cutting it and slip it inside the head again, Pull it tight and trim and when it releases it leaves the ends tucked inside the head instead of exposed. :D (learned this while making plushies)
thank you! i'm not sure how to do that method with how I tie the thread to a previous stitch though. it might not be possible. I try not to just make a knot in the thread by itself, since it's in danger of being pulled through the weave of the fur/fabric with enough force!
Also, this could be used for a earring placement.
earring? or did you mean to say nose ring?
@@freckledcatcreations I think they mean nose ring.
Wow! I’ve learnt a lot from this video :o I never knew yiu actually had to use masking tape until noy for the pattern, thank yiu!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for creating this!! I couldn't find any pickable nose tutorials!
Glad it was helpful! yeah i dont think i've seen a complete pickable nose tutorial yet.
Thank you so much for this, I never would've figured it out without this!
Glad I could help!!!! it took me a long time to figure this out too, and to try and avoid doing ladder stitched nostrils on the front that always leave a wiggly line XD
@@freckledcatcreations noted, thank you so much!
ohh im gonna try using this for my second ever partial >w< thank u
Tysm for this! Im remaking an old fursuit and wanted to make the nose pickable unlike the first version. Didnt do this the exact same way bc the nose was one of a goat cat hybrid and thus was way smaller. Im trying to move from mq suits to hq suits and this is a big step for me
I love pickable nose they have just seemed adorable to me thanks! But imagine a pickable nose combines with a squeaker in the nose some where it's sounds very cute to me.
That would be cool!
This is really cool, I can tell you put a lot of effort into your creations!
Thanks a ton! im tryin my best ;w;
Nsjjfdnsk I remember when you had around 1K subs or less look how you have grown- You totally deserve it AND MORE!!
THANK YOU SO MUUUUCH
This looks way easier than the other method I saw!
oh yeah, I tried to find the easiest way to make these and still get a really nice result! if you just have a bit of ingenuity you can get away from having to ladder stitch some seams (which is less strong than other stitches) !
@@freckledcatcreations thank you so much for this! The other method I saw was two pieces put together after peeling foam out of a small strip, I have no idea how they got the fleece on!
@@fairyduckling oh yeah, i saw that one!!!! I was unsatisfied at how it wasnt the complete process. if im not mistaken.... i might have the official first full tutorial video on this? maybe?
@@freckledcatcreations I think that may be correct!

I linked my website in the description!
thank you so much!
I need this for a passion project im doing, im having my character's nose ring be removable and this was very helpful :)
oh yay! Glad it was helpful!!!

merci !!!!
thansk u for rhis!!! im thinking of making a fursuit head soon this is very helpful!!
Glad I could help!
Finally, a place to stick my autograph sharpie.
or my joint.
exactly LOL
Oh my gawwwd so cute!!
Amazing!! Going to be really helpful
Ahh I'm glad!! Ty!
I plan on using this technique to give my fursuit a removable septum piercing :3
This is a great tutorial! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
this was really helpful! thankyou
I'm so glad!
Im planning on making a bunny fursuit and I’m debating whether or not I should make a pickable nose. I feel like it would be cute because I could make it a nose ring.
The trade-off for the feature is less ventilation, then? Although I guess it doesn't matter if you still get air flow from the mouth/eyes right? I'm more used to realistic head bases, it's so cool to see how creative you can get with toony styles!
oh, there's no trade off! there's no less or more ventilation from this method. though if you also carved a tunnel down through the muzzle to the mouth, you might get a teeny bit more ventilation, but probably not much. the only way you would get LESS ventilation is if you closed the mouth - but foam heads usually are static jaw and the mouth is super open!
You could also do the nose before attaching the fur and then turn it inside out and attach it to the fur that way so that you wont see the stitching C:
you could, but then how would you handle the inside tube? can't have raw foam in there.
Love it 🥰
Thank you! 🤗
Question
How do you put a squeaker in a cat nose so when you get booped it squeaks?
Yess someone else who uses masking tape for the taping. Duct tape is way too hard to remove but for some reason that’s what all the tutorials use? Lol
right???? duct tape hurts my wrist to pull it off the roll (though maybe i have extra heavy duty duct tape instead, idk), and it rips the foam when taking it off. i much prefer masking tape!!
Your really underrated! ❤️❤️
And now...this is how people make this crazy but epic looking hyenas with awesome nose rings (ik other species have them but hyenas are just- for the example lol)
yessssss it would work perfect for that
This is so coooool
your suits look so soft 😭👉👈
aw thank you!!! i try to get super soft fur!!
The thing I love about furry suits is how they are made
how did you fix the asymmetry in the nose? i’m having the same problem and have tried multiple things to fix it, but failed.
first you gotta find out where the source of it is. the foamwork? the fabric pieces maybe not being cut right? the way the fabric's sewn together (seam allowances being different)?
@@freckledcatcreations Thanks! I ended up figuring it out :) it was the shape of the back of the nose
ooh okay good!@@GalaxyPawsStudios
:OOOOO I will use this tactic for a removable nose ring :D
