It's kind of a weird feeling I don't know how to describe how this song plays really early on in the game around chapter 2 and it is emotional back then, then it plays at the very end and the emotional hit is not only still there, but it hits even harder.

Goodbye Volcano High was a special kind of game. The kind of narrative experience I felt like I had waited years to sink into. For all the drama and bullshit people heaped on it, the game didn't really go heavy handed on the whole gender politics thing.
To be fair, the game was originally a dating sim, then that got canned, then the writer got fire and the story rewitten, and then they hired a third party to rewite the whole game AGAIN.
It actually catched me offguard whenever I get recommended something from GVH instead of Snoot Game.
Kind of nice to see that GVH can at least compete in the music department.

Was it worth it all? Short answer yes. Long answer: well it was worth the 25 euros and 6 hours of my time and 2 cans of energy drink to be precise.

honestly i don’t understand why this game was so hated. both me and my girlfriend played it and it was fine- though we are gay and left leaning so maybe that’s why? i mean like what specifically, was it the gay dinosaurs? >>
Fangs gender for example wasn’t even that obtrusive- they are NB. that’s literally just it, it’s a real story about how this teenager isn’t accepted by their parents who are more conservative and could be applied to real life. how as we get older we drift apart from friends and sometimes that’s just how it is, but you have to cherish the moments you do have because you don’t know how much time you have left.
i think it’s beautiful, and despite what others say i think the fucking stupid 4-chan ‘snoot game’ is atrocious and a spit in the face to the piece of art this game was, though to be fair when it comes to that site if it’s not COD or conventional gender big boob lady game where you can sleep with people then they call it garbage
But snoot game... it really does have a good story tho. And idk if gvh does because i didn't play it yet but... it does seems like a good game. Also the songs of gvh are 10/10
I haven't played snoot game so I can't comment on it, but I defo agree with you 100% on GVH. As someone who's obsessed with games like Manhunt & Hotline Miami, this game made me cry like a baby at the end lol. It does have flaws, but it's still beautiful.
@@axeloriginal any good story was intensely watered down by the premise of it existing in the first place- it leaves a sour taste in my mouth of them blatantly misgendering fang (and it’s not like you can never have a story about a trans character detransitioning, but fang wasn’t their character to do that with-) along with making fangs love interest, naomi, go with their brother naser instead- because we can’t allow queer people to exist! i think they just outright removed sage, plus skinnified all the characters to have the exact same body type (so for the women/AFAB people, that essentially meant BIG BOOB SMALL WAIST HABAH-)
as a concept it’s just flawed as well, because even the premise of GVH was that this was in ancient times and the last few days before the meteor wiped them all out. why would there just randomly be a human there?!
it removed a lot of nuance from the story as well and it would have been better if (a, they just hadn’t been homophobic and transphobic) but ALSO b, just made their own game with their own characters, because as it stands i just can’t enjoy it from the place of hatred it came from
@@terezipyrope7047 No-one on the dev team was misgendering Fang out of malice, they know how to use preferred pronouns as seen with Trish, Reed, Spears, Naser, and the school's faculty. The ones doing so were characters in game, like Anon, Naomi, and most background characters. Snoot Game's Fang isn't really aligned with the LGBTQIA+ community, rather she's using the non-binary identity as a crutch. Trish's influence and Naser's accident further prove this as Fang is alienating themselves after Naser's accident and Trish, thinking she's helping them, tries her best to keep everything the same by scaring other people away from Fang so they don't get hurt and deviate from their status quo. Fang detransitions for healthy reasons in ending 4, because she is still trying to find herself.
Saying they "skinnified" all the characters is a lie. I assume the main two you mean are Rosa and Stella. In Snoot Game, they don't have an hourglass figure and aren't unnaturally skinny. They may have different bodies than in GVH but saying that they're skinny with big boob and small waist isn't true. Their bodies, for anthro-dinosaurs, reflect on what they do. Rosa is a gardener and the leader of the gardening club and thus she is a little slimmer than her GVH counterpart, but also strong as proven in game. Stella is a weeb, but still helps Rosa around the with the gardening club, and her body reflects such. They aren't eye-candy, they're people. (as "people" as dinosaurs can get)
All other GVH characters translated over to Snoot Game have actual poses, dimensions, and bodies that are different and unique from one another instead of being square and bland. Also, realize that Snoot Game started development 8 days after GVH's announcement in the PS5's "Future of Gaming Show" and then released in under a year and that there was no mention of Naomi and Fang's relationship in said trailer. Snoot Game still had their own story, while GVH had to do a whole rewrite thanks to some, unorthodox actions.
Sage isn't in the main story, for what reason I haven't found out, but he is mentioned as being Fang's original science partner and by Trish in a bonus chapter who refers to Sage as a girl. Maybe they were transphobic and didn't include him, maybe he didn't fit into their story because of other reasons, maybe they didn't know he was a he, we'll never know... probably. GVH was also set in present time and in the characters are in their 2021-2022 school year, not the ancient times, with the original meteor killing all the dinosaurs missing Earth, and now a new one in present time now taking it's place. Snoot Game has humans and dinosaurs living simultaneously because meteor miss and evolution and some shit.
Most people's reasons for disliking GVH aren't because 'gay dinosaurs' or because the MC is a non-binary pterodactyl, it was because the gameplay was minimal and unimpactful and the story, to most, is lackluster, with no central theme, character growth or consistent conflict with your choices not really mattering in the end. The meteor conflict is sidelined for battle of the bands, Fang's secret admirer, and D&D/L&L.
Snoot Game originally came from a place of hate and was meant to be a complete joke. It was a shitpost and it would've been bad if someone hadn't given honest criticism of the original draft of their script, but it evolved into a love letter to GVH. The devs grew to love Fang as a character and expanded on them in their own way. It's as if someone made a fanfic. You see a character you like, and make a story with your own narrative. Cavemanon took the idea of Fang and expanded them into Snoot Game, giving story, emotions, conflict, and endings. I personally don't like GVH's story too much. But the music for the game is amazing and is very well done. But I at least took the time and saw it for myself instead of listening to people on the internet complain about it. I'm glad people were able to enjoy its story and see the messages it was trying to convey.
4-Chan is a cespool, but it's awful rude to generalize the devs just because they came together from that website. I'd suggest you actually play the game and see for yourself what it is. Try and go in with an unbias view on it, and not get peeved every time Fang is referred to as 'she' or 'her' by Anon. The game can be really crude at times, with it's sometimes unfunny 4-chan humor, slurs, and objectifying people at points, but it's a really thoughtful story that, like some with GVH, has left an emotional impact on some. If you don't enjoy it, that's fine you don't have to, not everyone will, but lying and saying it's homophobic and transphobic because Anon as a person/character is a jackass in the beginning isn't too neat. That's what character development is for, as he grows and learns in the story. They basically did make their own story, they may not have conceived the characters but they made them have their own identities from GVH. Please forgive my bluntness, but pull your head out of your ass and realize you are not the only person in the world.
@@FP0620 but that’s exactly the thing- it was born out of hatred and malice. i don’t believe EVERYONE on the team was like, 100% jackass, but you have to understand, of COURSE they’re going to gender the cis dinos correctly man, it’s SPECIFICALLY the fact that they make it a point to call sage a girl and to make fang detransition.
in literally ANY other context, if they were making their own story for example, they could make a detransitioning story- that does happen sometimes, and it is important to talk about. but doing it to specifically the ONLY ENBY CHARACTER of an existing game seems really… targeted? like you have to understand that even if you don’t think so, why it could come off that way.
and… people can be gardeners and ALSO bigger? just like how being skinny doesn’t automatically mean you are healthy, stella’s body type is SUPPOSED to be bigger, and them erasing that also feels just kind of icky.
and like, man, i just really don’t like when people say snoot game is better because the poses are ‘more dynamic’ because.. yeah it’s like, 2D dating sim sprites, of course there’s more you can do with those than fully rendered 3D animation.
the meteor conflict was not ‘sidelined’, these dinosaurs were like ‘omg we only have a few days to live at most probably’ and were stressed out, playing DND and music helps them cope with the anxiety of their very early demise. i will say the only part i didn’t like from GVH was how forced trish fighting with fang was, but they’re also both teenagers (and also battle of the bands happened before they knew about the meteor, as well as fang finding out about their crush). your choices ‘don’t matter’ in the way that people expected this to be the next life is strange game or something, when it’s like.. you KNOW what is going to happen, they are DINOSAURS, the big meteor is on its way.
the POINT is that you (as fang) have a limited amount of time to spend doing and appreciating the small things in life, like music and dnd and friends and being with naomi before the end. it’s not supposed to be super dramatic and filled to the brim with action, it’s primarily slice of life and a rhythm game with a tinge of despair at the incoming meteor
(and also, shitposty random rick and morty ass humor and just some human guy being there is like, better story somehow?)
if this game was really made during the events of GVH before it even came out, it would explain a lot, but also i’d complain about that too since they made fun of a game which hadn’t even COME OUT YET.
and like, i don’t think that anyone who likes snoot game is automatically trash or mean or anything like that. but acting like it’s just so much better when it comes from a place of disrespect and anger, is horrible
