I absolutely loved this series especially with the English subtitles. Please have more historical series done with exactly the same English subtitles. It seems more legitimate that way. Thanks.

It's hard not to feel for Tsar Ivan IVth as a man. He was very emotionally damaged, and prone to extremes of sorrow, fear, guilt, anxiety and despair as well as rage and hatred. It sounds like he was entirely unable to control his emotions, because of the lack of love and attention during his childhood, as well as the fear of being murdered so that one of the Boyar regents could take the throne from him. His institution of the Oprichnina is of course a terrible heresy, imagining that the kingdom of God can be enforced by murder and terror, no matter how many monastic vows the oprichniks had taken. Love cannot be enforced by hate, nor peace by violence. May God have mercy on his soul, and even more, may God vindicate and reward the victims of his injustice.

I prefer the Rurikids over the Romanovs.
The Romanov were a branch of the Rurikid. Although in the 18th century, the Holstein Gotterp succeed them.
