I so love the music of Percy Grainger since being introduced in junior high school. I loved having to study Grainger's music while a student at Florida A&M University (undergrad) and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (grad). Mock Morris...i love the light, giddiness of the music. It is so deliberate and yet so timid...great composition!!! This is perhaps the best youtube recording I have heard!
@NoMusicNoMe Most of Fennell's recordings with Eastman "Pops" were in the 50's and 60's. I know Eastman&Fennell recorded a major Grainger record with Mercury Records in '59. Assuming this is from that landmark recording. I love Fennell, but my favorite recording of this is on the soundtrack to "Howard's End" which includes piano + orchestra. It somehow evokes a better sense of that "ragtime piano" sort of quality I identify so much with Grainger and the pre-WW1 period.
I would make a stereotypical youtube comment "(Number of Dislikers) are (negative thing related to video)" except apparently, everyone likes this piece.
Did anybody think about Percy WEASLY when you read who composed it????? No just me..... oh well I guess I better just go back to detention with Snape..😔😔😔😔
We're playing this in symphony at our school, it's a very up-spirit and bright piece. One of my favorites.
Always ❤this song,Thanks😀
For sheer merriment and an ever-constant uplift of one's spirit, Grainger was a master! This delightful folksy piece bears witness to it.

What a great arrangement of Mock Morris. Love it!
One of the world's most underrated composers and arrangers.
Delightful group of illustrations.
Yes, that's one of the main reasons I'm keeping that film on my DVR. It's great.
Played this last night for a concert. Simply amazing
We're playing this, only it's the wind ensemble version, so to speak.

SpittinGlitter I am now rescreening Howards End. I love the Mock Morris on that soundtrack. You can bet I'm gonna loop it for my commute music. 😃
I played this once with a group of people. I play a band instument and this proves that band and stings are equal.Ha!
We recently played this piece in our wind ensemble and it is absolutely wonderful. I can't wait until we play lincolnshire posy!
There is a nice arrangement of this on the "Howard's End" soundtrack (end credits)
:-)
I love how this sounds but when I play it (violin) it makes me want to break down and cry
Ashley Putnam I love this piece. It took a lot of fighting about tempo and intonation but we got to second place with this piece and Brandenburg
Gabriella Z That's great! We ended dropping the piece though
Ashley Putnam SAME MAN SAME😂
just played this arrangement in a concert today :)
@saltwaterballads Then Imagine playing that on a bari sax. It's pretty awesome
Reminds me of a medieval jester
I like this piece, too, but I prefer the arrangement used for the soundtrack of the film "Howards End".

@gerhold101 I just meant this performance lol. But thank you for the information
@brokenreed3 most of those pictures are medieval...
what year was this done?
@Mathematica500 And I would prove you wrong, but I don't feel like that.
