I watched this in the theatre on opening night and the crowd reaction was the most raw and visceral I've ever seen. I heard people talking about this movie for weeks after.
"I want to play a game." Fun Fact: Was filmed in 18 days. Movie Magic Fact: Leigh Whannell and James Wan confirmed that when Adam begins to smash Zep (Michael Emerson) with the toilet lid, he is actually hitting a garbage bag full of fake blood. Subtle Camera Storytelling Fact: Director James Wan wanted the camera movements to reflect the two main characters' emotions and personality. He filmed Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes) with steady controlled shots and Adam (Leigh Whannell) as handheld shots to capture their emotions of the situation. Gun Enthusiast Fact: As Dr. Gordon (Cary Elwes) is loading the cartridge into the revolver to shoot Adam (Leigh Whannell), the camera briefly shows all six chambers of the cylinder to be empty. Revolvers don't eject spent cartridges, yet the man on the floor was supposed to have shot himself with the same gun. What looked to be a continuity error is actually a subtle foreshadowing to the twist ending.
This movie franchise has a good storyline to it. When I first saw this movie in theaters, I was completely shocked at the twist ending. The rest of the movies go more in-depth with John and his ideology. Great reaction, I know it wasn’t easy 😂
Funny thing about the first SAW is there are only a few minutes worth of actual violence on camera, and most of the time, you don't see anything actually happening. You see the aftermath of some things, and you see the suggestion of violence during most scenes. Your brain fills in the rest with the assistance of the rapid edits and unsteady camera. For years my roommate refused to watch this because he thought it was just scenes of torture, but then I made him sit down and watch it with me. Any time there was violence on the screen, I timed it. I forget the total, but I believe it came to about 2-4 minutes of on-screen gore. Quite the effective trick it pulls isn't it?
This is a great series of movies. The more you watch the more you understand John (Jigsaw). It is an amazing story. I hope you will continue. Maybe watch these after 10pm in the dark. You miss so much when you close your eyes.
Really enjoyed your reaction. I will never, ever forget seeing this movie opening night in the theater. One of the wildest, craziest experiences I’ve ever had. People yelling, screaming, passing out, even had a few people vomit. Wild stuff.
Saw-tastic reaction. Tobin Bell (Jigsaw) is an excellent character actor. He has a tiny 5 minute scene near the start of Clint Eastwood's 'In The Line of Fire' (1993) and he even shines in that.
Its very hard to be surprised by anything cause normally by the time i watch a movie someone already spoiled the ending for me somehow, but not for this movie and I'm so glad. That twist ending got me so damn good i would never in a million years have predicted it. Absolutely jaw dropping
Thank you for this reaction. If you continue with the series, remember that there are now about 10 of them (Saw X was released a few weeks ago I think). In any case, try not to focus too much on the timeline, because some movies, even though they take place chronologically in the sequence (i.e. Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, etc.), the events may actually be simultaneous or even before others in previous movies. So, it is sort of a Gordian Knot that can leave one tangled if you think about it too much. There is one team that examined every movie to determine when things happened, but it was in painstaking detail they did it. So, for the 10 movies, there are Saw I (this one) to Saw 3D (sometimes called Saw VII: The Final Chapter), Jigsaw, and Spiral. That is 9, and as I said, Saw X was just released.
What an amazing reaction!!! Thank you!!!! I recently got sucked into the entire saw franchise and now it’s such an experience to watch others react to it and yours was amazing!!! ❤

Yea if you thought this was too much to handle, do not watch the sequels. This one is more of a crime story with several brutal moments while there is less crime and more brutality in the sequels. Even though they have some interesting concepts, these movies are not for everyone. I think the first one is really really good though except from some weird editing choices. I hope you eventually check out the sequels. Not all of them are as amazing as the first but it's all connected and you learn more about all these characters
In the sequel, and all the sequels that follow, you will see that Jigsaw is actually onto something here, that he makes a good argument for his extracurricular activities. I always say, most of the "victims" are the actual villains in these films, and Jigsaw is somewhere between vigilante and antihero. There are only a few participants that are actual victims, that don't as harsh or difficult a game. They certainly still belong in a game of some sort, but a more easy game to win. You can't tell me the world isn't a better place without some of these pieces of shxx from the sequels.

At the minimum I would recommend to at least watch the sequel, Saw 2. It's the movie where you learn a lot about John and he's present through the whole film, it's also considered by many to be the best in the series. Beyond 2 though, that's when they really start to embrace the "graphicness" of the visuals and show it more and more so it might not be your thing. Enjoyed your reaction to this one though!

I hope thats just halloween decorations, bcuz that level of gothism leads to satanism leads to miserable life
It was so good! 🥹 I enjoyed your reaction a lot. Will you continue watching these films?
Thanks! I’m going to try to but they may be spread out. My heart could barely handle that first one lol
@@cinemawithsteph haha, I was thinking the same way. Can't stand all that gory details, but the plot twists are overwhelming, all the films are connected. That's why we all love Saw that much 🙂
Hi Steph! Just discovered this channel. Awesome reaction! I also think you're strikingly gorgeous. Would you marry me? I promise breakfast in bed every morning and a puppy of your choice (as long as it grows to be above 50 pounds)
