Such a great icon in the the hunting realm. A man that portrayed the base roots of why we hunt. He was a business man but was humbled and grounded by the experience of nature and its creatures and sharing the wild untamed spaces. Nice work on the show!

Fred is a legend and not a myth. We Michigan's above all owe him our admiration at least. Though not from here he made a master crafting business here and we love him. God rest his soul. He really is a Michigan Legend and a true treasure. Thank you for sharing it Michigan Out of Doors.

I had the honor and privilege to meet Fred Bear and his wife back in 1981 at The World Archery Center in the Poconos.

Fred bear taught me to shoot bows and arrows back at beechwood elementary school summer camp. He was set up with 4' round bullseye targets and recurve bows.
He asked me if I wanted to learn to shoot the bows and I said yes. Right off the bat he showed me his method I observed and it thrilled me as I began shooting 🎯. 3 days of that and I was hooked! Had my father drive me to Kmart when I got reL serious to buy my recurve from Mr. Vince imperial on 9mile and mack in scs mi. 48080.
Later I got to work at Fred bear world north of 13 Mike and harper in scs mi. It was a joy to see how much kindness just exuded from this giant hearted , kind man. I've since shot just everything that Flys swims or walks. If it bleeds I've killed it with a bear bow and arrows!
Now on hall rd and I-94 the new Cabelas store has a bronze replica there of his likeness with the prettiest background around and a rickscape above of him there with really took me aback in time for sure. Fantastic likeness. I own one of his bolo Tues. Its a Petoskey stone one and I'm keeping it.
Thankyou Fred bear for guiding me into archery and to become the world's best fish taxidermist specialist in the world. Now retired. Thankyou Jesus for Llowing me to ever having graced his presence and having a close one on one relationship with a legend gentle soft spoken gentleman, Mr. Fred bear.
Freaky too my grandpa Duwe worked at the Packard motor car company too.

My first and only bow was a Kodiak Magnum bought from Ernos Archery in Bay City Michigan,I remember Henry Erno getting a Christmas present from Fred back in the 60's? a big color TV ? console model,I also won a carp shoot at Pt Moulee around the same time.My best friend an I would always go to a little coffee shop when we were trout fishing in Grayling because if Fred was in town he would always be there in the morning for coffee with his buddies, great memories, most business's in Grayling would have Bear bows on display hanging on the walls,we were told they were seconds that wern't quite up to Freds standards so they were givn to various business's to display,ah the good old days, thank you for preserving so much Bear history

Hey, John! I think I may have some of those preproduction heads. The bare metal versions. My dad was in sporting good and he got em somehow. They are identical to the Bear broadhead.

I have a Bear Super Grizzly made in 1953. Is it worth anything?

They are collectible and do retain value in good condition. Some people have them in their collections while still others shoot them to this day. You really have to appreciate this man's collection and the pristine condition of the items in this collection. So you can measure the condition of your bow against what you see on ebay.

Great video of Fred Bear. I'm curious about Norman blanchard he was a primitive Archer. I can't find any information on him.

That airforce commercial reminded me of something crazy. I have watched many videos of Ukraine hitting Russians with small hits. Not one man ever helped a man out, they are nothing like our guys, our guys will do anything to help a fallen man. And Russia thought they were indestructible? Crazy
