    Nice one Mark, I keep a plastic crochet hook/needle in my tackle box to help unpick the tight birds nests. Does the job without damaging the line or the reel🙂

    Chesil beach is definitely on my bucket list of places to fish as I've seen some beautiful cod and some amazing rays and other species seems like a really popular place.

    • @seaangling
      @seaangling  Рік тому

      It is 18 miles long so plenty of choice and a wide variety of species. The beauty is anything can appear within reason but people do blank. Weather, tide and barometric are key.

    • @robbieallan6522
      @robbieallan6522 Рік тому +1

      Appreciate your swift reply 🙏 does look fast shelving there, is it best high to low of low to high ar is it just a case of if the fish are there you'll either catch or blank regardless of tide hight?

    • @seaangling
      @seaangling  Рік тому

      @@robbieallan6522 I personally like to fish the last of the flood and then HW through LW and initial flood if possible. Under 1013 barometric pressure and reasonable tide.

    Have to check those lines like Asso! as start with a shiny coating which on likes of Chesil with that backwash the line get abraded and once shininess goes line becomes more brittle

    • @seaangling
      @seaangling  Рік тому +1

      Chesil is hard on rigs and there was a lot of movement in the water on this one. I’ll take a closer look when I strip it down in the workshop. I think you will be right but I should be able to see on a closer look.

      @@seaangling I had Asso tapered shock leader break at rig top as came in at Cogdon just as come through backwash where ledges is at low water.when checked rest of it could see it was dulled ie lost shine and was brittle. one of the things have to be mindful with using these "modern" monos!
      Get similar effect when tying them leader to mainline if not careful esp if not wetted enough as can see line rip it's like a chemical reaction between them!

      Hi Ross, nice boat.
      I had a few cod out from the dragons teeth last year and did 4 films targeting cod at Chesil. Those rogue waves are scary and the winter can send some right up the beach catching people out. I haven’t tried crab at Chesil.

    I was just leaving as you were talking to some guy in the car park. I caught nothing all day. I think I will fish up to high tide and over the top next time. Like yourself I got a 50 mile trip back, To eastleigh in my case and don’t really fancy the trip back at night. Do you suggest high or low tide at chesil? Great film about baits. PS never seen it so busy. I haven’t caught a Cod yet or Plaice. Can I catch a Plaice at Chesil. Tight lines

    • @seaangling
      @seaangling  Рік тому

      Different areas and different times of year on the beach have their ways.
      The movement from turn of tide seem to switch them on so from HW as it switches to the ebb and at LW as it turns through to flood. I think the reason some prefer the ebb or believe it fishes better is because their rigs present better and it is easier to spot the bites. The flood can be more difficult with swell or wave shape. I had my rod tips very high and they still got bounced on occasion. At Eastliegh I am one junction further on the M27. As a general rule I would say the deeper areas for cod like the encampment down to the cove and shallower for plaice, Abbotsbury running right. I’ve not had a Chesil plaice either.

    • @seaangling
