Those Odyssey bb's are pretty hardy, had a couple of them on bikes over the years and both have run for years with minimal maintenance. When grease dries out in alloy threads, the best thing I have found to make them quiet, long term, is a layer of PTFE tape (plumbers tape) over the threads. That will quieten down that squeaky bb that keeps on grumbling.
Had a specialized siris that had the creaking problem. Took it too the bike shop and they kindly offered to replace my whole bottom bracket saying it was likely cracked. That shop sucked. Glad to know the fix 4 years later :P
@@Spindatt It's okay Eric, I remember our deal, you remake the 'Fixed Gears As Road Bike' video but with the Vigorelli, and I'll stop bringing it up in the comments every few months. Long live Tinker Tuesdays!
I bought a dh bike the guy stated he does not even ride it came on a trade but it had fault the fox 40 front forks clicked and BB was crunchy. I bought it. I took the fox 40 and all it needed was the plastic sleeve moved up. The BB bearings needed cleaned now smooth as butter. Easy fix.
IIRC the mt200 are not supposed to be used with them because of the added heat, but on a dirt jumper it's probably fine. at least i had no problems with them even riding trails.
I changed the resin only rotors on the hardtail I built and used semi metallic pads on my mt200 brakes, which made a big improvement. I'd still like to upgrade, but they are better. The other mod is to use a Deore or better servo wave lever with the MT200 Calliper haven't tried this.
@@Spindatt The idea was to offset the manufacturers tolerances of the frame and BB. I put one layer around the threads of the bb then grease the threads of the frame and a bit on the teflon taped threads. I never had any bbs come loose or creak since then. Before I would just grease the BB and after a couple 1000 miles It would come loose no matter how tight it was. I use thin teflon tape 0,075 mm.
Did you not bleed ter brake lever? Not to suck eggs, but after putting the pads and disc back in, i top off the funnel and bleed the last of the air off, so the pads are pretty much touching the disc instantly
I flicked the lever to get the trapped bubbles out, but not like you are describing, that's a good idea! Though, my rotors are kind of always so bent and wrecked that they would rub hahah

Hey Spindatt. I am trying to sell my Haro Porter slopestyle bike and was wondering if you have any tips for where/how to post it? I have it posted on Offer Up, but I think I might not be getting any bites since DJs / slopestyle bikes are a little niche. Maybe you could do a video on selling used bikes someday. Have a good one!
Fun fact - Channellock tools are made about a half an hour from me. Sorry, I know this is supposed to be about Park tools. I don't know where those are made.
👏 FRIENDS! edit: judging by the way you have to hit the spindle in, and the spintest being... what it is... It could be a case of misalignment of the bearings. just a thought.
@@Spindatt honestly I think you're right. My one-piece fauber crank from the 80s is the best spinning I've ever owned... and it's a chore to jump on it 😅
Not super necessary really, a more powerful brake than this budget entry level one would provide as much braking power as needed, I'm just cheap and won't buy one until I get hurt with this one haha
It's good to have Tinker Tuesday back. Just the distraction I need to keep me from... doing anything really.
LOL, you can watch and tinker at the same time
Glad that you're back after a bout with COVID! Let the tinkering continue!!
My voice is a mess from it still, but I can play with bikes again and that’s what I love!
I spy with my little eyes, A production color norton frame, Hmmm. I might need to save up then, cause I bet release’s gonna be soon. 😍😍🥰🥰
Next week!
@@Spindatt awesomeeeeee, Might start saving up now or build one up to sell :3
Notification gang reporting for duty. We asked for Tinker Tuesday back and Spinney delivered!
Now I just need to not spend too much money on projects to keep it alive haha
@@Spindatt wish I could send you parts. Shipping from the UK would probably be ungodly though.
Friends !
Nice to have Parktool on board with you !
Close to 50K too, nice !
They've been supporting for a while, I'm just terrible at reciprocating the help hahah
@@Spindatt Yeah, i remember the first video you talked about it !
I hope there will be some Garage upgrade/insulation/completion videos coming :)

Thank You! My voice still lets me down regularly which is annoying while trying to shoot video, but the energy is back!
Just binge watched all of the dirt jumper videos non stop lol
And waitin for more ;)
SICK!! very rarely do I get positive feedback on dirt jumper and bmx stuff haha.
thank you very much
Glad TT is back and hope it will live up to its name, every week on a Tuesday.🎉

I missed TT! Also I like the voice over. Glad you’re feeling well enough to touch a bike.
I really missed this series. See you next Tuesday ;)
Next to riding my bikes the thing I get the most satisfaction from is adjusting, tuning and improving my bikes. I call it 'Tinker Winter'.
Agreed, once the sun is back and everything is permanently dry for the season, back to the outdoors!
Keep them coming man
Nailing the editing skills to Erik
Danke!
Thank you very much!
I can feel it, any day now, since he brought back tinker tuesday, one day soon, we'll get the Vigorelli history video he promised!
Lol I’m still thinking I’ll never make that video.
The holy grail, Bigfoot & the Spindatt cinelli vigorelli history video. The three rumoured to exist have never been seen by anyone!

Welcome!
is there anything more satisfying than just sitting and staring at your bike?
I still love your content
That's gonna be a good looking bike
Yup about time to start tinkering again with my old hybrids and mtb's. Kettle is on
When i still used the cheap mt200 brakes, the cheap semi metallic brake pads made wonders on my trail hardtail.
I was wondering that, these are organic.. which is supposed to help, but they are just not good

I see that norton! Dang thou I just ordered a Marino Frame.
The Marino is going to be fun!
I use Teflon tape, plummer's tape for threaded bottom brackets around the threads of the BB.
That helps keep it quiet you find?

Are you going to insulate and board the internal shed wall?
Will the Norton be available in 29er?
What happened to your seat at the end
You changed the saddle?
TINKER TUESDAY! My how I’ve missed thee…
Should be a good season of tinkering!
The square tubing on that frame near the bb looks like it was made at home depot.
Seeing the white Norton frame just got me that much closer to getting one…

one day when you get a chance, can you measure the head tube length? its 118mm on the Regular, and 127mm on the large.
You Know, putting a couple of drops of lube on the chain also cuts down of the chains you need to buy, Jus Sayin'

LOL it takes 12 seconds to put chain lube on, so I'll probably never get around to it

Could be! But I’d never put the effort into facing the bb shell on a DJ. Having the cranks not move when you take your feet off is a huge benefit

Have you seen FOAD's "Last Try"?
I have not!
Next tinker Tuesday: Big arse rotor out back, see if that makes life better.
I doubt it would make a difference, a new brake would be the move!
I can’t stand a rubbing brake rotor 😬. Number one thing that will make me bring my bike to the shop.
Having zero experience with dirt jumpers would a larger brake disc be better than the single 160 mm on the back
Not super necessary really, a more powerful brake than this budget entry level one would provide as much braking power as needed, I'm just cheap and won't buy one until I get hurt with this one haha
Park Tool wouldn't sponsor a torque wrench?
I could ask for one, but I'd never use it. Better off with someone who isn't awful like me hahah
Your videos are helpful and you are likeable enough, but they are way too long. Get to the point a little faster. Just my constructive criticism.
