Hearing taps every night at 2200 is one of my treasured memories of being stationed at NAS Memphis during the 60's & 70's. At that time, it was a huge Navy & Marine base.
I miss hearing all the calls throughout the day, particularly Taps its calming to hear as you're laying in bed for the night I was stationed in Fort Sill though
I heard this for 8 years of my life in Fort Richardson, Alaska. I got woken up by it every night when it was my bedtime, and the 10:00PM trumpet call always made me feel sad.. I'm 16 and still remember this. I miss hearing all the trumpet calls I remember the cannon going off during one of them but I can't remember which one.
You never realize how much you miss it, until it's gone....
Camped on Cheyenne Mt for 1 1/2-2 weeks back around 2012 , it was amazing hearing taps every night. The way it echos in the mountains is so cool!
Heard it for the first time tonight. Respect, Honor,Freedom , Sacrifice came to mind
