    Hi Lisa, we have talked before. I have tons of green white aqua and brown, and we spoke of making trees. I have decided to start small, and am currently working on a brown pine cone. It is taking a lot of time, since I need to let the glue set up before I move on to add more. I will send you a photo when I am done.....love ya and your tutorials!!!

    I LOVE THIS!!! I also have an idea!! Use a hot knife to make a tunnel, through the tree, from the bottom, and shove tiny LED string lights in it! Thank you for this idea!! I'm adding this on my "To do" list that I hope I can get to on time! LOL!

      I know a lady who makes these and glues fairy lights as she goes and even cuts out a space in the back to slide the battery pack( super thin ) in to hide it .. She also mounts these on clear flat glass decorative bowls ..

    I'm a florist! Try using "Oasis floral adhesive" It dry's quickly, and is strong. I use it it to make Corsages, etc.. Ask a florist to pick a tube up for you, and give it a try!!

    You are a wonderful teacher! I loved everything about this video because you taught me every aspect of making these trees. I don't collect sea glass, but I do purchase it from sea glass hunters here on FB to make jewelry. I am going to try one of these & see how it goes. I love the fact that you donate the proceeds! They are really gorgeous! I hope you make more tutorials working with sea glass. Thank you!

    Your tutorial is excellent really like your tips on what to do and what not to do this has inspired me , a few years ago I was pretty big on digging for old bottles and I saved everything !!! like you I have boxes of old glass shards pieces of old pottery and assorted rusty iron implements. My husbands always getting on my case what am I gonna do with these boxes of old glass now I think I know what I’m going to do I’m going to try to make the glass trees but I do need to get a Tumblr what is your suggestion on the best one to buy ?

    • @lisavanderpoorten6594
      @lisavanderpoorten6594  2 роки тому

      Thank you! I use a Loritone rock tumbler. I have never put them on a light pedestal but that sounds like an interesting idea. I have made hollow ones by stacking the sea glass. It takes forever but it leaves a hollow space for a battery powered tea light.

    I absolutely love this! I've been wanting to do this for so long. I lived the first half of my life in Jacksonville Florida on the beach and have lived the rest of my life and worked my entire life on Lake Texoma in Texas. And I have got 5 gallon buckets, upon buckets of Sea Glass. Well I guess technically it would be "Lake Glass". I've been getting into making suncatchers and wind chimes and such with them, but now with the holidays coming up and it getting ready to be Halloween, I thought that it would be so neat to make Christmas trees with them and give them to friends and family. I've seen different ways to do it. Some with cardboard cones, some where you just glue the glass to each other, but I really like this styrofoam method! I think I'm going to experiment a little bit and see which way comes out the best for me. Thank you so much for sharing! 💖

    I saw your sale on Facebook, and living near a beach in Florida, I thought, what a Wonderful hobby to do with my very artistic Granddaughter. I, too, am a Cancer Survivor! ( stage 3 colon cancer- 14 years out- 12 months of Chemotherapy nearly killed me and I have many problems from that!). But, this year, I thought, what a Wonderful Christmas gift for the families in my family! Do you do any Jewish Art? I have 2 Jewish families. But I heard you say that you do Jewelry- this is too long- I will look up your website- anyways, thank you so much and you will be hearing from me!

Those silly paintings got me out of bed and downstairs when all I wanted to do was to sleep! I just posted a new video with links to the latest sales page. It is "Sea The Cure" on Facebook. I will be selling items from 17 Nov 2020 to 3 Dec 2020. facebook.com/lisavloves Hopefully this link in this comment will work for you. Congratulations on your recovery! Thank you for sharing this. I’m so glad I found something to do with all of my seaglass. I know Walmart has it and Amazon too. (I live on Lake St. Clair ~ not the ocean)
    I’m not so picky about finding things etched on to them. I was pleasantly surprised find a dark blue green one that had a magnolia flower carved into it I painted it with some metallic paint and the flower just pops. It makes a perfect pendant for a necklace 😊

    Have you ever painted the cones a similar color to the glass that you would be using? I thought that may help hide the background of the cone a little?? Love these I wish I was closer to the ocean to go every day, I find it great therapy to spend the day looking for "treasures" on the beach, TY for sharing

    Thank you for your video. Can you provide the brand name of your rock tumbler? How long does a batch of sea glass take in the tumbler? What grit or steps do you take, in the tumbler, in order to achieve a finished sea glass look? Thank you!

    • @lisavanderpoorten6594
      @lisavanderpoorten6594  3 роки тому

      Hi! Thank you for your comment! I use the Lortone 3A rock tumbler with coarse grit and run it for about 3 days. Then I check it. When you do your first batch check it every day because sometimes the glass you selected will get extremely thin while tumbling. I just want a frosted look with no sharp edges. I don't want the glass too thin. I only put thick pieces in to the tumbler so mine takes about 3 days.

    • @lisavanderpoorten6594
      @lisavanderpoorten6594  3 роки тому

      If you are making a white tree, use white. If you are working with green glass, use green. That’s what I would do.

      Hi! Thanks for watching! Yes, I think hot glue would work. It tends to melt styrofoam but would cool and harden quicker than e6000.
