Speechless!!! These are the kind of BigD Vids that started my Addiction, Thank You Derek for being my Enabler... My wife appreciates it... 😂 lol...You’re A Rock ⭐️ when it comes to Everything Guitar!!! #☝️
I’ve found when working with pine and other soft woods, I had to use a wood conditioner where I’ve wiped it on and wiped it right off - that made a huge difference, the stain took nice and even.
I've got a "reasonable" guitar collection (don't ask my ex-wife) but I still don't have a green one. So rare to find a good green on a guitar worth buying so this post was a serious treat... and such a tease. ;-)
Man you do such good work. It's crazy our techniques are so different. I can't wait to see what you dream up for a collab with me! But we gotta get some crazy tops from Kimball!
I’m getting ready to d start my first DIY guitar kit. It’s OKoume wood. It’s a LP style guitar, can you give me some pointers on how to stain it? I plan to go either green or blue. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Was just curious what size bottle your green was. when i went to the website to see what they had, they only seemed to have 3 oz bottles left, wasnt sure if that was enough to do a guitar or not.
Looks great, bro! When you hit the sides with black you hot it pretty neat without getting any black on the top - is that easy enough to do or would you recommend a beginner like me mask the top first?
Hey Derek, I just saw a maddening idea: checkout Fisher's shop on UA-cam. He's got a video called woven cutting boards. I think this could be a fantastic project for a guitar top. Could fit a tele design without a pickgard. Let me know what you think ! Amitiés, Avi

Thanks for the killer guitar body, Derek! Very much appreciate your generosity, and that you think that highly of the music I sent you!
Maybe it's just the weed but I could watch and listen to this all day. Very relaxing.

Great black and green combination. Does the sanding sealer retain the color when the clearcoat is applied.
Simply beautiful !!
Thank you! Cheers!
Once again, amazing!
Very nice bro! What kind of sanding sealer is that in the rattle can?

When you first applied the dye, it made the piece look like a shirt that needed ironing.
Looks awesome 👍👍😊
I love the videos where you have to get onto the kids, lol. Man, do I know that struggle 😂
great work as always D! Looking forward to your next post! 3 weeks was too long of a wait my man!
I have a few videos in the hopper
@@bigdguitars Exactly what I love to hear!
Funny as I watch most of your videos there is a point I go, "No, that looks bad" but by the end it comes out perfect...lol.
always gotta go back 2x
Why don't you dye the pickup cavities and control cavity in the back? Of course you don't really see them once assembled but just curious?
I'll email you today. Let's go! And thanks for turning me on to Derek at Kimball.
Green yes Sir i like it .

One day I thought I didn’t like green guitars.
I was wrong that day.
Was just curious what size bottle your green was. when i went to the website to see what they had, they only seemed to have 3 oz bottles left, wasnt sure if that was enough to do a guitar or not.

I love the green you used. Just confirming you used a leather dye for this guitar?
me : doesn't like green guitars
Derek : I'm gonna stain a guitar green
me : challenge accepted.
haha
Did you let the first green stain dry first?
Big d what kind of humbucker do you use on the whiskey barrel guitars, are they like a half sized? Are they hand wound or do you buy them?
They are hand wound custom pickups. They are hotter paf speced
@@bigdguitars where can I get a set of them?
Used the Angelus dyes based on your recommendations, they are excellent! Thank you.
Would 000 Steel Wool work as well, or is it too abrasive ?
You'll be just fine. Just don't rub too hard. 😉👍
What canned sanding sealer do you use? Thanks
Mohawk precatalized
So is that the plain green? Not the Jade or the Kelly? I need that green lol
And just out of curiosity, what sanding sealer do you use?
Love it!
Thanks!!
How about red staining a black korina top 🤷♂️
Did you use a random or circular orbit sander with the scotch bright pad?

What happened to the tele build giveaway, seems like a scam just to get subs for you and JJs channels, unsubbed...
He gave it away. He posted a video of it. The guy who got it posted on his Instagram.
@@bigdguitars I didn’t see a follow up on UA-cam but okay
I didn’t post a follow up. Just had it on his channel.
