I still don’t know how to train my dragon. Also jk guys the dragon is still alive 😎💪
Enjoy and thanks for watching,
Rohanna 🍓
Sounds like you’re the only person who practiced 💀
Lol, totally
What about those Altos?? I played this 2 years ago and lemme tell you that part can get hard lol
Played this last year as an alto and it can be very challenging
Fr thooo😂😂
The bass clarinets sounded fine
THE TRUMPETS ARE OUT OF TUNE IM GONNA CRYYY AAAAAAAAAA
You’re out of tune
Everything is
Clarinets...😭😭😭
Trumpets out of tune. Horns missing partials. Basically all woodwinds out of tune. Yep. Sounds like high school middle band
Yeah fr
Wow! You guys really killed it! The dragon, I mean.
LOL! Deserves a like.
LOL
Best. comment. ever.
My school concert band played this piece last year, and my conductor let me play it with them (im in wind ensemble, which is more advanced) because i had requested it. Nearly cried on stage. HTTYD has been my favorite orchestral work for years, and I’d been waiting to play it since I was in 6th grade. Last year in 11th I fulfilled my dream. He even put together string parts for it so the younger strings could make it a full orchestra. I’m so happy to see other people playing this arrangement, or even just these scores. They’re breathtaking all these years later just the same as when I first watched the movie and fell in love. Awesome playing ❤
Awww I love this
we had to play this in symphonic band in 8th grade last school year and this is one of the songs that gets played over and over. I get it, it sounds pretty good, but it gets annoying
Im in 7th and I’m in wind assemble cause of our program and I’ve been requesting this song for so long, also because I love this song and reminds me of the movie that as a kid I loved so much, this song give me goosebumps.
AWEEE I WANT TO LEARN IT NOE
My band doesn’t get to play movie pieces/ famous pieces
I think it didn't sound TOO bad I mean wonderful flute playing the solo was filled with good tone and great musicality but you can tell somebody didn't practice over in the brass
OMG IKR, and as a horn player, all those horn solos made me cry, because they're really not hard if you just PRACTICE
as an non-musician i died
@@jingkai7133that’s when you know it’s bad 💀
@@jingkai7133 oh god even the NON MUSICIANS can tell 😭😭
Same is happening in my band if your not gonna practice at least sound good 😒
I loved that you included the sheet music on the bottom of the screen, made it really neat and easy to follow. Truly a wonderful piece, one of my favourites to play👍
Glad you liked it!
Percussion was spot on loved it
my schools percussion was so bad, they made me (a tuba player) fill in some parts, and now im doing mallets :)
As percussionist, I have found no one wants to do the mallet parts
@@baileycarter5141Nah, everyone be fighting for that 4 mallet sight reading, frfr
@@baileycarter5141That’s too bad. As a percussionist, I’ve found my favorite parts are when I get to play mallets.
The timpani were out of tune tho 😭
Whenever I'm in band I'm the ONLY one who picks up my pencil and takes notes on my sheet and it makes me feel so embarrassed. Thank you for showing your own music; love to see that some other people actually do too!!
dont be embarrassed, I am personally embarrassed that I'm to lazy to pull it out.
@@Caff-pv8fg Thanks 😂
don't be embarrassed! my audition music was half pencil and half actual notes. writing on your music is good!
people who write on music sheets are usually the ones who improve, write and circle anything if it helps prevent mistakes
i’d much prefer that people take notes when they know they don’t know a part than play the wrong notes loudly
As a trumpet player, I find it interesting to see what other instruments plzy. Not once have I heard the flutes play all these little arpeggios. Maybe bc we play too loud lol idk. But anyways it's fascinating
Sadly you don't hear us play it because it's too difficult to play confidently 😭
@@noahhomyak9477 Aww:((
As a flute we do play oddly fast arpeggios A LOT
real shit, the trumpet section and the flute section are on COMPLETE OPPOSITE sides of our set and i sit in the seat thats furthest away, so the only time i can really hear them is when we arent playing, and even then its a struggle bc theres a whole army of clarinets. 😭😭😭
You killed that solo!
i too am a flute and we tried to play this at my school towards the end of 8th grade year, as something fun to do until the year ended, but no one wanted to play it except for the front row (I'm a flute) so my band directors gave up. However, the entire front row proceeded to learn their parts anyway and now we all still know it to this day, and play it during band before warm ups
As a horn player, 2:05 hurt me physically and spiritually. 😭💀
I died inside
same bro
real
bro fr
goofy ahh horns
I played the full orchestra version of this arrangement a little over a year ago. I also had the melody at 0:43 on cello and it nearly killed me every time we played it lol
YES !!
Glad to see people are still playing this music. Makes me feel old. I remember playing this piece in seventh grade band on the flute - that was about 9 years ago now. Y’all rocked it, and you especially have a lot of potential on that flute!
That horn duet part was painful 😢 they were NOT in sync
The HORNS werent in sync
As a bass clarinetist, they did very well! It's hard to articulate down low. Awesome job on the flute solo!
However, as a Oboe, I died.
I know! But I believe that the higher notes where even more challenging
I’d like to apologise on behalf of all oboes for the really squeaky oboe/ slightly sharp I can hear lol. there’s always one in every high school orchestra. Also the horns sound pretty good :]
Literally it sucks because people don’t really know how pretty oboe can be be because of the goose sound bad players make😭
Got this in my recommendations and upon hearing the first note I paused to grab my own flute to sight read along
bro the percussion went so hard, as a percussionist i am so proud
As someone playing this song right now in band at school I feel this helped. Great work on the flute
thank youuu, hope you have fun with it :)
As a flute player hearing the flute out of tune is making my head hurt 😭 (ontop of the other instruments being out of tune too)
We are playing this in high school band right now and will preform for our year end concert. I have the flute solo too!! You did so well, I loved hearing someone else play it! Gods blessings 😊
My band played this last year and it was a hot mess until the night of the concert. We couldn’t decide on a saxophone soloist so that was a fun 10 minutes of arguing
knew from the first chord it'd be straight fire
You are really good at flute.
This is probably the best level my concert band can get to if we ever played this piece
"how many times have you seen this?" me: "yes."
HTTYD has always been my favorite movie series. Seeing the the things I love most together makes want to cry😭😭
the "no the main character" is so real
I'm a cellist in a youth symphony that's playing this exact piece right now, it's so cool to hear from a flutes perspective!! :)
Oh God that's messy (beginning atleast)
Later on: Dang those horns are struggling
We’re playing this piece to right now. As a oboe player and a HTTYD fan, I love it!
I love this piece and am also an oboist but can't find the oboe part. Do you happen to have a link to it?
P.S the oboe in this recording is... interesting...
The last year I was in concert band, we started playing this and getting it ready for the concert. I had the solo, and then like a week before the concert our band director took it out because he thought we didn’t work on it enough (to be fair 2/3rds of the class didn’t) but I worked on that solo so hard :(
why am i seeing this rn, its been 7 months, ur so good at flute better than our flutes in my school😎💪
you are so freaking good! and the low brass at the start? STUNNING!!!
Our middle school symphonic played this today, they honestly played as good as the original recording for this
I did this song in band, and after not playing the flute for most of a year, me playing along (just after going for a run and therefore having sweaty hands) really did sound like the dragon died 😂😂
my band played this and i swear every time i played the music my flute went from perfectly in tune to unbelievably out of tune
Tuning. Your band director needs to tune y’all and teach y’all to tune
YOU’RE SO GOOD, OMG YOU PLAYING THE MELODY JUST GAVE ME NOSTALGIA LIKE THIS SHOW WAS MY CHILDHOOD 😭😭🤌❤️❤️
I miss playing the flute so much, ever since I became homeschool I can't do band or choir anymore and this is making me sad. Also you were lovely, ore confidence than I could ever have. Good job!!
The descending triplet thing at the beginning is absolutely awful for the first violins lmao
Violins? This is not an orchestra playing..
heh? this aint an orchestra
If it's identical to how it's written here, just do 1st position with extended 4 to hit the Cnat.
@@aLitttleLoloBirdyou do realize this person probably plays in an orchestra and is playing this song, right? In the original score violin and flute most likely had the same part(and then when it was arranged for concert band violin got taken out) or flutes had something different but whoever arranged this piece for concert band decided that the violin part was more important and gave it to the flutes. Either way this person is talking about the same song, just different arrangements lol
It’s the same thing but for about three measures of it instead of it going to other instruments
As a flute player myself I feel you
My school concert band played this for their first concert and it’s safe to say that their dragons went extinct bc out of three trumpets only one was playin 😭😭
we played this exact arrangement last week! you guys sound great!!
As something who also played this song, the flute was the best (I am clarinet so she was next to me and was amazing at it)
The sigh of relief at the end of the solo is too real
Those french horns/mellow brass sound so pretty matches your energy so well
Niceee. We played this 2 years ago for my school’s “Pops Concert”. I was the Bari sax. Super fun piece.
Best flute solo!!! Lowbrass still sounds very good thay have about 2-5 solos...
As a bass clarinet player, those mfs in the beginning were so out of tune lmao
I dont know how to explain it, but this is my favorite video on youtube by far and idk why🙏
the clarinets sqeaking made me die inside lol
Hi Ate Rohanna, I’m a band student from Burlingame and we also played this in our concert! I also play Flute, so watched your video a lot of times to help me practice. Thanks for sharing your talent!
That is so sweet! I really appreciate kind comments like these. Thank YOU
You look so happy when play which is amazing!
The intonation in the clarinets killed me 😭😭😭
We never played this in concert band when I was in high school, but I can easily imagine doing it. I am tempted to take out my flute and play along instead of air fingering on an imaginary flute. This is very nicely put together with the sheet music, and beautifully played. Thank you!
I played this when I was in 8th grade but I had to suffer because they lost the part for my instrument… So me, a baritone saxophone player had to read a E-flat bass clarinet part that I couldn’t even get low enough for some of the notes. (I was very sad and disappointed, I was looking forward to playing it) :(
I just checked the instrument, it’s actually an e-flat alto clarinet
my school did this and we all love it even though we're not super great at it. seriously, every time we get a spare second we all start playing this piece
U sound amazing girl. Keep it up. The rest of the band i cant say the same for
I can’t stop watching this your so good!
I’ve watched this like everyday for the past month and it still amazes me
She plays fine but not that good lol
gave me hella deja vu. literally just played this this year in band - although we did play it a couple years ago too - and i was flute solo too lol. good job!
Thanks for reminding me how much I love this piece of music. ❤
Wow I remember playing this same arrangement in high school, on clarinet. Just looking at the sheet music brought back the fun memories
i played this my senior year and it was so beautiful 😭🙏🏼 i played the flute part too and lemme tell you it was pretty hard
my school band just started playing this and i REALLY felt that long note where it suddenly switch to the octave under 😭
God I love the music in this movie it makes me feel something
AAAHHH I played this on flute two years ago and. Wow that brings back memories
childhood fav song love this lmao.
Omg wow so talenteddd
We are playing this at my music showcase!! It’s such a great song!! ( i’m alto saxophone eb )
the clarinets squeaking every 3 seconds was killing me the entire time 😭
Where were they squeaking
@@yoonies3dollarchains447I don’t really notice it either
@@yoonies3dollarchains447 the whole piece
im playing along with u and its the funnest thing ever
we’re playing this in my 8th grade band! i love the contrast between flutes and clarinets at measure 115 - you have incredible air control btw :)
the oboe sounds like it was stressing
im stressing as an audience
something i haven't seen anyone mention is the brass, esp. the trumpets, need to open the backs of their mouths for a warmer tone
As a fellow Flute player this was beautiful. Sadly even though I'm in Wind Ensemble I can't play thrills as I should be able to at my level getting my 3rd superiors this year.
I did it I got my superior my 3rd superior
The music is so different. I only have bump bump with my music. Occasionally I’ll get an epic low brass theme.
I’ve played this twice in my band now, once with four of us (freshmen year) and second with six of us (junior year) so I loved listening to this and what it’s supposed to sound like 😭
We got to play this and we had attempted to play it in 8th grade before covid hit. I was the only who remembered how to play it the first time we did it. Definitely shocked the other flutes... Go muscle memory. 😂
as a trombonist who has played this piece in concert band in both year 4 and year 8, this is so cool!! i barely hear the flutes where i sit in the band so it's really interesting to hear all the parts i never noticed before. you play it really well! :D
Brings back memories. Used to play flute in high school orchestra, too.
It sounded like you were a solo in some parts. Was this an improvised piece? It sounded different.
played this arrangement in 8th grade and the amount of practice for the 3 bar trumpet solo and the amount of stupid listening required to remember the main triplet melody
You playing amazing! I couldn’t keep up with how fast and great you were playing! I’m a flute player and I haft to say I could never do that. You did amazing! Keep up the good work! ❤
I LOVE THIS IS BERK ITS AMAZING AND I LOVE YOU FOR POSTING THIS ❤❤❤
Very Nice! You played so well! I just played this piece with my school's wind ensemble (I played the snare drum part) and this brought back awesome memories. Thank you!
My uni band voted to play thi this semester and this just crossed my feed I’m so freaking excited! The flute part is so fun
i played this last december for full orchestra in high school, and it was so fun. (horn). made sure to play the test drive part very loud too because there were only two of us :)
The dragon is still very much alive! I played this last year and let me tell you, I did not practice as much as you did 🫡
AHHHH THE HORN SOLO ALMOST KILLED ME… ALWAYS USE SLURS PEOPLE!
Oh my gosh we played this piece last year in the spring! I got the flute solo too, it was really fun :DD!
Fellow flutists here. You really carried the section with that quality! You guys just needed a bit tuning, otherwise it would be almost perfect (for the flutes)!
i played this version in september it was so fun
Im playing this as a bari sax in an orchestra where the trombones just SCREAM, and i say, this hole shabang has a deficit of BASSari SOUND, if i cant hear THE BOOM of the bari it aint good! in the first staccato, i heard only either the basson or the bass clarinet so im dissapointed in the lack of the best sax
I have watched this video multiple times I litterally love the whole grid franchise thank you ☺️
Thanks for watching :), I'm glad you enjoy
I'm just gonna put this in my piano playlist, because you've inspired me!
apologizing on behalf of the clarinets, we normally do not sound that bad 😭
We’re marching how to train your dragon this year :) we love it
The oboe is dying if they have to play the flutes high parts
