I should start by saying that I mean no disrespect by this! I only mention it for those of us who want to play the song as accurately as possible.
So, in regards to the "pink panther riff" (feel free to chastise me if I'm wrong):
First, it seems as though Rory didn't mention that he drops back into drop C for this part even though it is part of the verse which, as we all know, is played in drop C#. As far as I can tell, the notes played and his finger placement line up with this tuning at both 1:57 and 7:17. It also sounds like that in the actual song.
Second, the playthrough at 1:57 and all three times that he plays the riff at 7:17 don't match. During the playthrough, it looks like he plays it on the 4th and 5th strings, but all three times that he plays it at 7:17 look to be on the 3rd and 4th strings. I'm pretty sure that despite this he's using the exact same frets in the exact same order. Again, considering what I hear when I listen to the actual song, I'm 99% certain that the riff is played on the 4th and 5th strings.
