- Depstech asked me to take a look at the DS520 Endoscope with respect to using it for electronics repair such as looking at corrosion or bad soldering under BGA chips. This sounded interesting enough to give it a try so let's see how well it worked

I would be interested to know if you would be able to read component values. The live presentation the image quality was surely lacking but the recording did look better
I've used mine to inspect vintage receivers, amplifiers, and tape decks. Sometimes the components are tight. Boards vertical, side by side. You can't even look at what components are in it. Works great to inspect solder pads and such.
Heya, that's a nice endoscope and with 15 meters you can come a long way 1080HD and 30 fps is enough and for that price very nice. very good review
I am using the camera they make with just a wifi module, so it sets up a wifi and the phone app connects to it. very tiny and portable as it use the phone as the recorder and display
Yeah I’ve used the endoscope before many years ago. I’ve still got it actually attached to my mobile phone and I needed it for some vesicatory work but yeah I think the especially when the baseline of the 1.5 m is probably what most tech tech technicians would need new no you’re not going much beyond that unless you’re in on an industrial site but the quality was good and you were obviously very impressed with it. Yeah it’s able to get us a good flog. It was an interesting and I think it was well worth the time and effort and a decent product.
Yep, these are great. I have one but only the cheap $10 version that hooks up to my phone or a tablet, and use it a lot for use as a borescope when inspecting the rifling in the barrels of my many guns. They work really well and definitely would not be without one for any occasion. This one with its own screen looks really nice. It goes where mortals fear to tread ;-)
Your need something with a lot better optics to see under a BGA, the one we had was about 50K and it could not see all the connections under the chip. if needed they were x-rayed to be 100% sure.
I went to an assembly house once and they were x-raying chips in sealed packs to see if there was any silicon inside? A lot of fakes with nothing inside had made it in to the distribution chain. so it was better to know the fakes before putting them on your boards.

I am in need for a load tester for SMPS and USB (in one if possible) with variable load up to 800W (e.g 12V 66A) and active cooling.
Is there something on the marked that you can test or recomend or build?
I would love to see a video for that. if its possible. I have seen your video about the USB load tester, but thats just not enough.

Could you not do the same thing by holding the board in question in a vertical orientation off the edge of the table and swing your binocular microscope over the look at the chip in question?
ideal for poking into back of pcs at flea market

I think, on this occasion, it is better off without the autofocus as it would probably focus on the wrong thing on the board. Maybe it could be turned off manually, though, and then would be handy.
I think the video is too compressed to see details.
