When the season starts and Barkley gets injured as usual , Schoen is going to look like a genius.!
This is going to be my favorite one I have a healthy respect for the business side of football
Yeah i find it much more interesting watching the FO than the team in training camp. I only wish they could show more but I get it lol giants probably don't want stuff getting out
To the casual fan, this Hard Knocks run was worth it for the entertainment value. To those of us in any form of business, we should be able to see the stage that is presented and try not to over analyze
Mara's reactions I always find interesting; he's a walking pressure cooker.
What CEO isn't.
He hired a GM from outside to rebuild this team and he is letting Joe Schoen make the final calls. Like any boss, he wants to be notified and kept in the loop, which Joe is doing.
Yeah I had the same reaction. I couldn't believe they were caring about sack totals?! It honestly just felt like a couple fans were talking the s*** about who to acquire. You know maybe it's bc I've been a Patriots fan my whole life and they have had such sophisticated rankings and s***. Or maybe it's cuz I watch a nerdy analytic-based shows like this but I was stunned at house surface level the analysis was.
Now it's possible that they're hiding the more advanced proprietary conversations but boy if they are they're putting up a good front trying to make it look like they are relatively incurious about that stuff
I refuse to believe Daboll went to ESPN rankings to hire a DC and just filled Schoen in later 😢
I agree about better process if one smart person just managed a team without owner input, etc. I have a feeling that is pretty much how Philly works with Howie
Has to be a person who can learn and understand how good football teams are comprised. Maximize value. Be able to balance and seperate the person aspect with just flat out being cold only goal is to make the best product. Have to manage the person aspect without it getting in the way but also still being able to project into the future
They’re covering days in one 45min episode. Yeah, let’s logically assume that there’s more in depth conversations happening in all the other hours not shown.
Yeah I don’t think they fully understand how entertainment works lol. Just because we didn’t have to sit through them talking about scheme fits for hours on end doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
The media is totally misquoting the owner with the Barkley take. He wanted the deal done either way without being drawn out. In a perfect world he would want him back. He wouldn’t sleep good if he went to the Eagles. How would you feel if the player you backed and believed from conversations would be a lifer then runs to your closest rival? He thought he knew the player.
Friendly reminder that in the same offseason the eagles picked up AJ brown had a season where Jalen hurts went from top 25 -> 7 in simms ranking. They offered the house for russel wilson which means they don't find replacements for Kelce and Cox and Bradberry and they wanted ALLEN ROBINSON WHICH MEANS NO AJ BROWN
These cats come off like Giants haters. Must be friends with Lombardi
Y'all cats can't handle the truth. Delusional fanatics.
Giants really prioritized Daniel Jones over Saquon last offseason 😂😂😂
False they were negotiating w/ Saquon throughout that season
Barkley high ankle sprain week 6 comes back week 13 starts feeling disrespected about his contract. You have to eat all the 26 NYG Jerseys you have. Go pound sand for another year.
They’re the goofs but you’re the one hiding behind a Daniel Jones burner account. Reflect brudda
@@isaiahh4108 my point still stands, they were playing hardball with Saquon. While giving DJ an undeserving 90m guaranteed
They didn't they actually began negotiations with Saquon before Jones and they offered him a contract at least up to 3 times he just simply declined the offer each time
This’ll be the last time they do offseason. It makes everyone look bad
I can't believe they let it air lol
Giants/NFL fans have to understand about not keeping Barkley. Daboll was hired for his offensive acumen. We seen over the years the kind of offensive philosophy he runs. He leans more on QB play and passing attack. In Buffalo he never showcased the RB position. In addition Barkley wanted a certain amount for a contract. Joe could not match that number AND add more to offensive line. It wasn't about not wanting him back. It was could not afford premiere RB. So between scheme change and limited resources Barkley resigning wasn't going to happen.
For all naysayers that feel he should've been paid and brought back, what good would it have done to pay him 12M but the same shitty ,if not worse, O line?
Yeah the thing nobody can say on the show is that the Giants have a long way to go and they are going to be a few years away regardless of whether they give Saquon a bunch of money. It doesn’t really help their team.
How hard is it to shave your head before you go on air? One bald guy to another bald guy who is obviosuly in denial about being bald. CMON HOMIE JUST SHAVE IT
Has no impact, considering that the NY giants aren't going anywhere this year ,relax.
We’ll see Timmy!
Pff looks bad here analytics shouldn’t be the basis for every decision lol how does that make any sense…. It should be a part of it but not everything.
Giants look like a shit show and that's coming from a Giants fan
@@stevensko9153As a Giants fan they look much better than they did under Gettleman. They finally shed all of his mistakes and now building a proper foundation. Saquon had to go because they never won with him and if they paid him they couldn't afford to fix the line
@@SkipperII except all the good players the Giants have were drafted by gettleman. The difference has been dabs. Gettleman needed gone but Schoen isn't any better. We'll see. He should get another year or two .
@@stevensko9153 think about what you just said lol. Obviously gettleman drafted all the teams good players, the other gm has only been here for 1 season lol. Kind of hard for your drafts to look good when half the players haven’t even had their first training camp yet.
@@lucrative6477 you are mistaken
Joe schoen should have been fired immediately after the airing. The incompetence is insane and you can tell none of his team like him 😂
If the giants flop again in 2024. Joe Shame is toast.
Rt it’s still football
Not rocket science
The way they treated Saquon Barkley out the door was absolutely fucked up
The way Dave Gettlefish drafted a RB over Franchise QB Josh Allen & trading superstar WR OBJ away is 10x worse. That’s why reason why the Giants are trash today
They let him walk to a contender they could’ve tag him and tossed him next year when he’s another year early it’s okay to move off RBs
@@brandonmoyd2942 bro, the Giants still would’ve been trash regardless if they drafted Josh Allen or not if he would’ve went on this team, he would’ve been just like what Daniel Jones is. Maybe just a tap it better y’all just don’t count just how bad the Giants were prior to even Saquan being there regardless you don’t treat a guy who literally has been your best player since he’s been drafted like shit.
@@flyguy7825 Delusional, Giants literally made the playoffs 11-5, 2 years before Saquon, they were full with injuries in 2017 which led to a high pick. Had the Giants kept their defense, drafted Allen in 2018, with the help of Superstar WR OBJ (who was WAYYY better then Saquon as a Giant) & Evan Engram the offense would be similar to the Bills offense
Imagine thinking Josh Allen with a superstar top 5 WR in OBJ, & top 10 TE in Evan Engram would be like Daniel Jones LMAOOO💀 yall non NYG fans so funny
TJ Watt was robbed. Fuck PFF..
Giants front office, looked stupid on the show. Definitely don’t seem football smart! They got played, with the Saquon situation!
You have been crunching stats for a decade! 10 whole years! How could Daboll be such a fool not to listen to you for direction! Only shows what a poor coach he is & what a lack of experience & understanding he has of how to break down this game.. like he’s done Anything on the level of PFF- hah!
How do NFL coaches not recognize YOU are the smartest guys to ever study the room?! 😂😂 I’m done.
I love hard knocks but this version is incredibly boring to me
I prefer this one to the training camp ones they've had lately especially last year with the Jets where they didn't even show anyone get cut. I think it's more fun watching them navigate free agency in the draft than just having the same tired stories about people trying to make the team etc ....
All of that said I'm not all that impressed with the Giants front office and the way they do things.
I don't see how losing Barkley made the Giants better. Bad move.
It was a bad move drafting a RB at 2 over Franchise QB Josh Allen
& Trading away your superstar WR
QB’s & WR’s make the offense, not RB’s
@brandonmoyd2942 That's revisionism. Barkley was a phenom at Penn State, and Josh Allen played at Wyoming against nobodies. Cleveland picked Baker Mayfield first, and the Jets picked Sam Darnold 3rd, after Barkley. He was hurt by a terrible offensive line, and he was hurt early in his second year after being Offensive Rookie of the Year. Sometimes, the right pick doesn't work out. Eli was still around but ineffective as the O-Line went downhill.
Because they need to use what would have been his money on the lines
@@whofan1967 You don’t draft a RB at 2 while not having a franchise QB on the roster, 2018 was the perfect opportunity for the Giants to draft a QB while still having a superstar WR to help him & they blew it. That’s exactly why they’re still paying for taking a RB at 2 over a QB to this very day
@brandonmoyd2942 I don't know. Tony Dorsett, Eric Dickerson and Marshall Falk were pretty good #2 picks. Saquan has that kind of talent. He's gonna have a big year in Phillie and will have something special waiting when he meets the Giants.
