Vizhinjam is an area located in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of the state of Kerala in India.
1.Vizhinjam harbour
Vizhinjam Harbour is known as fishing village which is just 2-km south of Kovalam. Vizhinjam fishing harbour is yet another place of significance in Trivandrum district. The place is famous because of a demonstration plant which converts the energy from sea waves to electricity and this is then provided to the local net here.
The plant works has benefited the local inhabitants here in many ways. Vizhinjam Harbour is a natural port which is about to be developed as a major port for which spade work is already in progress. It is the busiest fishing harbour in Thiruvananthapuram district humming with activities all the days. The sight of hundreds of fishing boats crowding on the harbour is delightful. The fish-foul smell is little problem in this area, but a far view and some other places are quite interesting.
The ministry of tourism is introducing some grand projects for boosting up the scope of tourism here. Vizhinjam is regarded as the perfect place for such projects because of the unique marine ecology with rich biodiversity.
2.The Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium is situated at Vizhinjam, about 2 km from Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram. Angelfish clown fish seahorses box fish cow fish eels and wrasses are among the exotic fish breeds seen here. The Image Pearl Technique at Vizhinjam Maritime Aquarium does exactly that using shell cement. A reef tank with an assortment of corals is yet another attraction here. Vizhinjam is a natural port and one of the busiest fishing harbours in the district
3.Vizhinjam rock hut cave temple
Southern Kerala’s most beautiful natural rock formation can be found at the Vizhinjam caves in Thiruvananthapuram district. These rock-cut sculptures date all the way back to the 18th century and are located to the south of Kovalam junction. The shrine has a central cell with an independent sculpture of Dakshinamurthy and on either side of the cell are unfinished sculptures of Siva and Parvathi.
4.Azhimala temple
Aazhimala Siva temple is located near Vizhinjam in Thiruvananthapuram Kerala State. The temple is perched on the cliff adjoining the Arabian Sea. it is an ancient temple of 8th century.
In local language, 'Aazhi' means Sea and 'Mala' means Hill- and the temple has been named so because it rests right on the golden shore of the Arabian sea on a slightly elevated platform. Of late this temple is attracting many tourists.
The main attraction of this temple is its 58-ft-tall statue of Lord Shiva standing majestically in a classic posture, atop a rock as if touching the sky against the backdrop of the cascading waves of the turquoise blue waters of the Arabian Sea.
In this spectacular statue Lord Shiva holds Ganga Devi on his head and his intervened locks flutter in the sea breeze as he gazes towards the heavens. In this temple Lord Shiva is worshipped as Gangadhareswara.

5.kovalam beach and light house
The Lighthouse beach near Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram district is one of the prime tourist attractions in the State.
Among the tourist places in Kovalam beaches are the foremost attraction. Kovalam beach is actually a long stretch of white sandy beach running alongside the Malabar Coast. The three separated parts of the beach are Hawah beach Samudra beach and the Light House beach. The largest among these three beaches is the Light House beach which is a must visit beach of Kovalam.
Light house beach is named after the 30 meter high Light house here which is the most important feature of this beach. The Light House is located towards the southern end of the beach and it's on a cape.
