As a retired English teacher, I can tell you that there is a war against classic literature. One of the reasons I am now happily retired and have quit banging my head against the wall.
I read that book in the 10th grade back in 1990. Went to a public high school that was 49% black 46% white and the rest was Hispanic or Asian. The English/Lit teacher, Mrs. Owens that taught was black. Not once did she shame us, not once was any racist remarks made, and not once was there any division in that classroom.
That is the experience of many. Let everyone with a clear head and a good heart be united in fighting the evil that divides people and damages our children's future.
They only difference with our experience in school was that some kids ended up bursting into tears in class because it was a wake up call on how bad humans could really be for nothing more than just the shade of melanin. All of us were distraught by it, not just the black students, ALL of us.
That's because decent people know that a person's skin color isn't important. Heritage certainly is but that's not what's being discussed. Good people view people as individuals. The left don't even try to hide their bigotry, they just deny it like a child with chocolate smeared all over his face, who didn't eat the chocolate. They openly display their bigotry, n every way they can. The things these people tell adults is unbelievably disgusting. What they r telling and teaching children is just beyond words capable of properly explaining the situation. These vile people r the epitome and personification of pure to the core evil. Just evil. They're sexualizing and teaching bigotry to little kids for christs sake. And show zero shame. I keep getting blown away how blatantly they flaunt their abhorrent disgusting vile behaviors.
I went to one of these schools. Everyone in the classroom would joke about how leftist and liberal the teachers are when stuff like this was happening. It definitely influences half the students but pushes the other half to the right.

Remember when teachers were allowed to tie up and whip kids who disobeyed? Or when the music directors were allowed to throw chairs at bad players? Good old mr. G, gave a lot of students long lasting trauma.

My wife and I made the decision, much to our children's delight, to home school using a proven curriculum. My son finished 5th grade public school. My daughter had just started 8th grade. Both successfully completed high school. Our daughter finished at 15 and started university at 15. Both are university graduates. Why parents trust public schools for a quality education, is beyond me.
I’m new to homeschooling but I told my kid’s school (inner NYC public school) that we’re planning on moving forward with this in the fall. My daughter was being beat up for being “white” - a 12 year old boy in her second grade class punched her in the face, others stole her belongings repeatedly. I saw young black boys getting arrested in the school. In handcuffs, so out of control. And the diversity? It’s all there.. but there’s no white representation at all. Oh and my daughter is a tan skinned half / southern Italian! Still not dark enough to be in their club of oppression.
I feel bad for parents, I chose the childfree life and I see more and more people who are going childfree, I could not be a parent and send a kid to these schools...

Though I assume that not all homeschool classes are perfect, public schools have many flaws also. Teachers can get tenure, and the school may have to keep them. Even back in the '70s we had a teacher who would throw away a student's report and give him an F, if it was in an orange notebook! He hated orange, but was tenured, so his job could not be taken away, even if his actions were not supportive of the student's effort.

Pull all of the kids out of government schools teaching CRT, band together, and homeschool. The teachers pushing this Critical Race Theory will not have classes and be laid off by the school. I was in the school system from 96-09 and I never saw or experienced this type of stuff. Sure there was the occasional Gore and Kerry stickers but it was not this radical. It’s amazing.

As an English teacher, I can tell you the schools have revolted internally against this. We are fighting CRT. We fought 1619 last year. You can’t force some teachers to lie.

She is quitting due to the constant threats of physical violence from the female students and constant sexual harassment of the male students. She said numerous times she has been experiencing stress with her job and her mental health is deteriorating.

Pulled my kids out of public school a couple years ago when I realized what kind of crap they were being indoctrinated with. I live in King County Washington (Seattle). So far I have helped 25 families pull their kids from public school this year alone.

It's interesting how school board elections increasingly allow illegal migrants to vote for the board members. A lot of parents can't be bothered. Rather spend time with their dogs, at the gym, on their phone etc. 2) System is designed to hide what your children are doing and make it difficult for parents who do care.
My wife and I decided to homeschool our kids last year. Best and most important decision we ever made. About 2 dozen or so parents decided to do the same.
I am currently a college student and feel terrified to express my true political beliefs. I feel pressured and forced to conform to radical ideologies and constant leftism while at school. I am working hard to become a dentist where a good GPA is everything to me. My grades in science and math courses have always been straight A’s; however, my Gen-Ed courses were not. No joke, I had spent more time learning all of the possible genders/sexual orientations for certain courses than I did for learning all of the complexities of Organic Chemistry. I was expected to know all of this information from day one, as if it had been presented to me from the beginning of kindergarten. I was criticized heavily by my professors in these courses for not knowing the material, and further was told that I would never become a dentist because I “lacked skills that would ensure the ability to relate to certain groups of people, racially and ethnically.” Essentially, my liberal professors called me a racist. I began to “play the game” as my father would call it, and soon found my grades were improving. For my final exam in American Government and Constitution, I wrote a 12 page essay on how President Biden‘s American Jobs Plan would be perfect for re-stabilizing the country, and further praising Biden for all of the good work he’s done for the country. Needless to say I got an A on the final. I never thought that the only thing that would come between me and my dream job would be the liberal university who’s slogan is “superior education for the superior mind.” It really made me think to myself, how much of myself am I willing to lose to gain something I cherish most.

I'm in the same situation but for psychology. My last lecture of the semester was an extremely accomplished developmental psychologist telling us we need to make young boys more affiliative (like girls), and girls more aggressive (like boys). It was about gender differences essentially not existing except when men are worse. Basically "scientifically" putting down men by manipulating facts that my fellow younger or less knowledgable students will miss. The harm we are doing to young children and university students under the name of "psychology" is painful to hear. I have countless horror stories already, lol. If you speak up too much or if you quit, they win. Best to just get the grades and the career.
Yes. My physician husband and I are Christians and he refuses to perform abortions. He was forced to watch one during his residency and it literally made him sick to his stomach. We have to be unwilling to back down but I completely understand about the need for a superior GPA.
When teachers (who are hired by parents to teach their children) think they have a right to propagate their perverted views into the children, they should be fired. It's up to the parents to get together and put an end to the abuses in the system. If you can't change the system, get your kids out!

I grew up thinking I’d never homeschool, but here we are. I don’t have kids yet either but I feel like giving them a proper education will be THE task of my life.
Its a tough choice, it would be a better quality education if you have the time to teach them yourself and probably faster than public school, however I think children need the social interactions that school provides.

The teaching colleges tend to have the dumbest students and the lowest requirements of any college in a university. The last person that I would trust to interpret a book for me is a teacher. "Those who can, do; those who can't, teach"
Well, I'm a teacher myself. I'm thinking of getting out. There are bad ones, but teachers, like myself, have worked very hard and my education wasn't fluff. However, honestly, at this point, it's up to the parents. I'm thinking of leaving the profession, but I could get fired for even speaking facts. They don't listen to conservative teachers and some of them don't care. There are still plenty of good teachers out there, though, there are. But, America has a fight on it's hands. Political bias should be banned from classrooms just like teaching religion was. Education should be neutral and I think there should be laws that support that.

This is why school choice is so important! I homeschool my youngest and did the same for my eldest. It’s the best! Honestly if my youngest ever gets a class that is like this I will not have her do it, I will click through and get her an A in that class and they will never corrupt her innocent beautiful sweet mind! we moved from a remote town to Toronto when my kids were 6-8, they lasted one week in school, I pulled them out and home-schooled them, best thing I ever did and they loved it.

When NPR names WAP the song of the year, we are in trouble. A friend of mine was watching online teaching for her son. It was Martin Martin Luther King day. The children were shown a picture of many races and asked what they saw that was different. NOT ONE noticed there were black people until the TEACHER pointed it out.

I can see that an edit was done.
I read that book in the 10th grade back in 1990. Went to a public high school that was 49% black 46% white and the rest was Hispanic or Asian. The English/Lit teacher, Mrs. Owens that taught was black. Not once did she shame us, not once was any racist remarks made, and not once was there any division in that classroom.
That is the experience of many. Let everyone with a clear head and a good heart be united in fighting the evil that divides people and damages our children's future.
They only difference with our experience in school was that some kids ended up bursting into tears in class because it was a wake up call on how bad humans could really be for nothing more than just the shade of melanin. All of us were distraught by it, not just the black students, ALL of us.

I’m new to homeschooling but I told my kid’s school (inner NYC public school) that we’re planning on moving forward with this in the fall. My daughter was being beat up for being “white” - a 12 year old boy in her second grade class punched her in the face, others stole her belongings repeatedly. I saw young black boys getting arrested in the school. In handcuffs, so out of control. And the diversity? It’s all there.. but there’s no white representation at all. Oh and my daughter is a tan skinned half / southern Italian! Still not dark enough to be in their club of oppression.
Teachers quit because they can’t handle these kids. All the things we heard years ago about inner city schools is real, but far worse in this time.

Though I assume that not all homeschool classes are perfect, public schools have many flaws also. Teachers can get tenure, and the school may have to keep them. Even back in the '70s we had a teacher who would throw away a student's report and give him an F, if it was in an orange notebook! He hated orange, but was tenured, so his job could not be taken away, even if his actions were not supportive of the student's effort.

Pulled my kids out of public school a couple years ago when I realized what kind of crap they were being indoctrinated with. I live in King County Washington (Seattle). So far I have helped 25 families pull their kids from public school this year alone.

What difference would it make? They can just turn your mic off and wait for you to trudge back to working 2 jobs to pay their union-backed public-purse salary. They know you don't have the time and energy to oppose them with endless hundred person protests and letter writing campaigns. They're entrenched enough that those campaigns probably wouldn't matter anyway. I am currently a college student and feel terrified to express my true political beliefs. I feel pressured and forced to conform to radical ideologies and constant leftism while at school. I am working hard to become a dentist where a good GPA is everything to me. My grades in science and math courses have always been straight A’s; however, my Gen-Ed courses were not. No joke, I had spent more time learning all of the possible genders/sexual orientations for certain courses than I did for learning all of the complexities of Organic Chemistry. I was expected to know all of this information from day one, as if it had been presented to me from the beginning of kindergarten. I was criticized heavily by my professors in these courses for not knowing the material, and further was told that I would never become a dentist because I “lacked skills that would ensure the ability to relate to certain groups of people, racially and ethnically.” Essentially, my liberal professors called me a racist. I began to “play the game” as my father would call it, and soon found my grades were improving. For my final exam in American Government and Constitution, I wrote a 12 page essay on how President Biden‘s American Jobs Plan would be perfect for re-stabilizing the country, and further praising Biden for all of the good work he’s done for the country. Needless to say I got an A on the final. I never thought that the only thing that would come between me and my dream job would be the liberal university who’s slogan is “superior education for the superior mind.” It really made me think to myself, how much of myself am I willing to lose to gain something I cherish most.

I'm in the same situation but for psychology. My last lecture of the semester was an extremely accomplished developmental psychologist telling us we need to make young boys more affiliative (like girls), and girls more aggressive (like boys). It was about gender differences essentially not existing except when men are worse. Basically "scientifically" putting down men by manipulating facts that my fellow younger or less knowledgable students will miss. The harm we are doing to young children and university students under the name of "psychology" is painful to hear. I have countless horror stories already, lol.
If you speak up too much or if you quit, they win. Best to just get the grades and the career.
Yes. My physician husband and I are Christians and he refuses to perform abortions. He was forced to watch one during his residency and it literally made him sick to his stomach. We have to be unwilling to back down but I completely understand about the need for a superior GPA.

Well, I'm a teacher myself. I'm thinking of getting out. There are bad ones, but teachers, like myself, have worked very hard and my education wasn't fluff. However, honestly, at this point, it's up to the parents. I'm thinking of leaving the profession, but I could get fired for even speaking facts. They don't listen to conservative teachers and some of them don't care. There are still plenty of good teachers out there, though, there are. But, America has a fight on it's hands. Political bias should be banned from classrooms just like teaching religion was. Education should be neutral and I think there should be laws that support that.

This is why school choice is so important! I homeschool my youngest and did the same for my eldest. It’s the best! we moved from a remote town to Toronto when my kids were 6-8, they lasted one week in school, I pulled them out and home-schooled them, best thing I ever did and they loved it.

not only that...but the schools lose funding...that's why they have to take a head count beginning of the year...they get money for each that attend...so if more and more home school then they stand to lose a lot of money....plus i've seen home school groups that actually have local meet up sessions...other parents that like once a week take their kid or kids and they meet other kids in the local homeschooling program so they still get social interaction.
