Love both brands and watches. I've owned the Squale Sub-39 GMT and handled a few BB's after thinking of making the jump and I honestly could not justify the difference in that case as well with money being an object. To me the biggest difference in quality was really the bracelet and clasp. Bezel action was better im sure but it didn't stand out to me personally as a factor. Im looking at possibly considering the Super Squale with the steel bezel and the clasp seems stamped just the same but im really curious if this bracelet is executed at all better than the Sub-39 was.
HOLY SHIITAKE MUSHROOMS, she's GLORIOUS, man! I've been drawn to this model, but was interested in a black dial. After seeing yours, I NEED BLUE! Your wrist size is PERFECT for the watches dimensions. Certainly she'll be splendid on my 6.5 inch wrist too. GREAT CONTENT! Keep it up! 👊🏼🫵🏼🤟🏼
I have the blue super Squale for about 8 months now. It's very comfortable, very legible and looks absolutely great. Minor annoyances; no drilled lugs and the colour blue of the leather/rubber hybrid strap it comes with (like in this video) does not quite match the blue of the watch.
Great points! Drilled lug holes would only add to its throwback character. I personally don’t mind the strap being a contrast to the watch- sometimes too much of the same color can overwhelm the watch in my opinion. Luckily it’s easily remedied!
I have the Super Squale with a steel bezel without the 3-6-9 numerals. I love it but the small crown is a real problem for me. I’ve now had to send it in for warranty repair as it does not screw all the way down. I’m hoping they can replace it with a larger crown that I requested.
Great video, I have a Tudor S&G and a Squale 30 atmos and I love em both equally!!! I wear my squale way more than the Tudor (it’s only for special occasion since it’s the S&G) 2 great watches and they both get compliments when worn.
The lume on the Super Squale is diabolical. The intensity fades within minutes, whereas the Black Bay 58 lume lasts almost overnight. I compared both watches head to head.
I think that Lume quality is a very important consideration. It's not staying up all night looking at a watch it's a glimpse of a watch in the middle of the night and knowing the time with our needing to turn on a light.
@chrissunde1104 Watches are no longer used to tell the time, it's a fashion item, a man's jewelry. If knowing the time is important to you, use your cell phone, it's a billion times better than your faulty mechanical watches.
I wish those two could be mixed together. I like the bezel color of the Squale, but prefere the bezel markers of the BB58. Squale case, but Tudor caseback, the deep blue dial of the Squale, the applied indices of the BB58 dial. And of course the clicks from the BB58 bezel. Let's name it Super Squale Bay 58 and meet in the middle of two, 2500 euros would be fine 😁
Excellent comparison review as always David, and some great macro video footage checking both watches out close up 👏 Two superb watches, we do have a similar taste. I do like that both have a blue dial and blue bezel - most diver watches have a blue dial with a black bezel, which is not as nice! I also think for the lower price and that top-notch BoR bracelet that I’d take the Super Squale 👌 But tbh I’d take either or both, they are with very little fault and everything I want and admire in a timepiece 🤩😍
Thank you my friend for your viewership as always your insights are appreciated. Blue dials with black bezels are often a miss for me too- think Edox sky diver 70s- the black dial and bezel is the better looking one in that example
You mentioned the BB58 bezel is good until you get upto the Seamaster/Sub. Sub maybe, but the Seamaster has an awful bezel feel. The bezel feel of the BB58 is superior, in my option, to the Seamaster.
Just bought a new ceramic Squale 1545 from an AD and it’s one of the worst running watches I’ve ever got. I’ve probably purchased over 70 watches by now. Running +26 spd dial up, fully wound on my timegrapher. Several of the threads in the links also stripped and I had to get Squale to send me a new bracelet. Frankly, unacceptable for a $1,200 CAD watch. Not very impressed with this brand. Likely will be forking out to send it in for regulation under warranty.
Tudor also is trying to carve its own identity out of Rolex which is ironic from your comment because modern Tudor is more enthusiast focused much like microbrands are today and that isn’t a bad thing. The big brands can learn a thing or two from microbrands in my opinion. I think Squale is doing just fine and having the history and enthusiast focused offering like a microbrand is a compliment in this day and age.
@@perpetuality Squale is not a Micro-brain. Micro brand companies do not make watch cases for a high in watch companies. Like Doxa, Sinn, Tag Heuer, and if I’m not mistaken, they built and designed the Rolex 5512 5513. That’s just the name a few
Close enough for one to not spend the $4000 on the Tudor but that is entirely subjective. I personally don’t think the Tudor is worth 3x the ask of the Squale. But to each his own. Thanks for watching
Thanks for making this! I've been looking for a comparison between the two FOREVER
I hope it helps you get closer to a decision! 😃

In my opinion I prefer the on the wrist feel and solidity of the super squale to the 39mm which its bracelet left much to be desired

Thanks so much for the laugh-the blue is quite remarkable in person and you won’t be disappointed! 😃👍
The Super Squale is a hell of a watch, I think I will buy one now!
I know I’m due to own one so I’m right there with you on that!
This was a wonderful review-comparison. Thank You !!!!
Glad you enjoyed it. Take care 😊
Great review and comparison!
Thank you for your kind words! 👊
This is such a tastefully done design and proportions. Great cheaper alternative to the BB58 and the latest no-date Legend Diver from Longines.

Well done, excellent camera work.
Loved this review. Well done 👏👏👏

I am sorry to hear that it has been an issue for you- the watch would be perfect with atleast a 6.5mm crown

Thank you! A great combination you have there Tudor s&g for that warmth of gold and dressy occasion-and squale for every other day

Love the super squale wearing one now

That's the most important thing, we all need to stay up all night to look at watches so that's definitely a good deal

Good content! Tudor 58 seems to be the benchmark. Continue to make videos of Tudor versus other similar iconic dive watch eg Seiko Willard.
Thanks for making this review!
Cannot thank you enough for offering up the watches on loan for review- hope we can work together again soon my friend!

I’d love to see that combination! And a lager crown for the Squale would be nice 👍
I have the Super Squale in beads of rice bracelet, and can't agree more on this review.
They really knocked it out of the park with this one! Thanks for watching 😃
Weird, my bb58 has green super luminova. I’ve only seen Tudor use th blue on their pelagos and the north flag before.

A very good diver for around $1000 is the Doxa Sub 200 tough to beat that.
Would love to get one in to review before I comment on it! But it looks like a lovely affordable diver’s watch
@@perpetuality it really is a good one unfortunately I didn’t own it long enough to do a review on it
Great review!

The squale 30 Atmos would be a better comparison, but great video ❤❤❤❤

No watch really hugs the wrist like a Squale!😊
I am happy that is true even outside of the classics like the 1521!
The Squale case is way more elegant , and that used to be a reason for a more expensive watch

FYI: You can buy this for $1230 at Long Island Watch.
squale diver history
The Tudor would be a beautiful watch but those rediculous ugly square hands absolutely ruin the whole piece.
there is no comparison!!! tudor is tudor … squale is lost in time … it’s a microbrand now …
