    INCOMING TRUTH💣 ESSAY 🤣 basicly tone its about money, The backlash isnt just about the leaf blower, its accumulative increasing unrealistic expectations of cavitys and the build as a whole when earning on price, in general, with the amout of extra little jobs that have been added on in the last couple of years, it increases the time it takes to build a set lift as a whole, on top of a the recent paycuts to the rates which has been upwards to 20% to 30% if you work out full plot with extra etc which is bullshited about to not harm worker morall and then uk inflation which has me running at such a high rate over the last few years, were all worse off financially than what we were 6 to 9 years, ago after we came out the last recession, so the trade is progressing but not in a good way, the jobs getting harder and the money is decreasing and your money is now worth less, its a triple threat of shit that kills your time which bricklayers in general are having to deal with, Which hasnt happened since we started pointing both side of the block and thr recession of 10 to 12 years ago, bricklayer dont want to see more jobs that we dont get paid for. Bricklayer want earn to more money to keep up with inflation not less, that it a nut shell.
    I feel i speak for every bricklayer in what ive said here aka typed 💪
    Bricklaying laying used to be a relatively stress free living, now in this profit driven modern work of crazy build programs, all what made bricklaying great in the first place is slowing being taken away from us.
    I Hope tone can see now and you can understand the frustration at the moment in the community.

      Like I said in my video, bricklaying is getting harder and harder. Super inspections, CQRs, Pride In The Job etc etc and that’s exactly my point, surely we have to look at methods that make things easier and quicker for us? We all have to clean cavities and ties, so pick the best method. I understand rates have been cut but unfortunately our industry is subject to corrections and boom and bust cycles. Don’t even get me started on inflation, take a look back at my video about swapping time for money! Inflation is a joke, it’s no where near 2%, more like 10% and the tax in this country is taking the piss, we are taxed at every level. Subbies need to be able to price work higher in order to sub it out at a better rate to give everyone a bit more but there is always someone driving the price down! It’s a vicious cycle !

      here here.... thing is Tony said pick and dip is our savior.... yet he promotes this clean cavity ....
      but isnt traditional bed a better more finessed way of laying brick that is cleaner overall....
      i wonder....
      they want the speed of laying brick but want it pristine all in the same movement.....
      so a slower movement or method would suit the tidier requirement, however profit trumps everything so if you not getting the 1200 down a day quota.... you are not doing what is expected of you....
      the trade is full of hypocrisy.... the only people who are happy are the ones lining their pockets....
      and if you are making less, they dont give two sherberts..... mugs game @theafter8bricky

      To be fair it’s a little bit inconsistent. If you look at NHBC standards all trays should have an upstand a minimum of 2 weeps so by that logic air bricks trays should be turned up and weep vents installed. Your never be told that’s wrong but you might if you don’t turn up and install weeps

    Great to hear there is someone out there who cares about actually building to the standards! Modern brickwork should be the best and Bricklaying is a craft at end of the day. Leaf blower is really great idea. I find that once you let your standards slip everything else soon follows. Can't really call yourself a qualified.. Bricklayer unless your work is done to the minimum standards in the industry. The sooner those in construction stop groaning about the standards and actually embrace them the better and we can then banish the scourge of badly built houses that has come about because the persons who built them didn't care about their work just the pay cheque at the end.

    • @Tone_Team
      @Tone_Team  Місяць тому

      I agree. Lots of so called Brickies that moan about cleaning cavities or things are getting more difficult yet they don’t know party wall tie spacings or screw up their weep vents. If you build right, to a good standard then cleaning cavities should take five minutes

  • @MrDavelyth123
    @MrDavelyth123 Місяць тому +1

    It’s true they are wanting more and more for less wages, but like you said the houses need to pass certain inspections, good times will come round again regarding wages, things will pick up but can’t see that happening until at least next year, lots of brickies have gone to other jobs, I’ve heard a good few bricklayers have gone to ground working,
    I just leave blocks out and clean the cavities that way, the inspector is happy when he comes we get a 5 happy days, then the site agent is like if you wash your cavity out with buckets of water you would get a 6,
    I bit my tongue thought turn it in 5s will do me all day long.

      We sub work out to meet the current minimum standard. This includes clean cavities and trays and everything else that is a minimum standard. Rates do reflect pointing both sides of walls, cleaner trays than ever. Brickies just don’t like it because they can’t bollocks it in and earn £300 a day for 6 hours. I’m sorry but that’s a fact. All house builders are asking for is for it to be done right, no more no less

    • @Tone_Team
      @Tone_Team  29 днів тому

      You only have to hit a 4, 5 and 6 are above minimum standards so why all the moaning? A 4 means that you have all the basics done, ties correct spacings, cavities clean etc. I could put together a test and I guarantee most Brickies would fail, certainly those that are just in a hand and don’t listen to the shit we get when Brickies get it wrong

    The problem is comments from yourself saying it only takes 30seconds. You know deep down that is rubbish, we are constantly being asked to do more for the same if not lower money. Then on top we have to lay out for extra tools we now have to carry around with us and get serviced. The prices need to reflect the amount of work. The days of knocking of early in hot weather or half day Friday are done because the prices haven’t kept up. I was on over £200 a day 20 years ago on a price. The amount I have to do and the equipment I now need to do the job has changed significantly.
    People working in supermarkets are now on £100 a day that’s why it is becoming harder to get labourers because we can’t offer hoodies good money on the current prices with the level of work we have to do. Why bother spending money on tools and travel when you can just turn up do an easy day with no outlay.
    All the big sub contractors have been letting these big contractors get away with this for too long 5-6stars should be more money.
    We currently are working for a 5star nhbc house builder and scoring lower than a 6 on inspections is not excptible in there eyes.

    Poor job security, working conditions, physical toll and decreased income all lead to the same conclusion.
    Regarding cleaning cavities, brickies get paid to lay bricks...get a labourer full-time on site whose only job is looking after cavity cleaning and general plot organisation.
