I just did this upgrade to our GD 337RLS. What a difference in our GA heat and noise reduction. I only needed my husband to help me with one bolt that I couldn’t get back into place. Now I’m going to order another one for the bedroom. I love your tips and bloopers 🤣
RV Airflow systems are amazing! Installed them in our motorhome and 5th wheel and everything they state about them is 100% true. Their customer service is the best I have experienced in years. Todd has been a blessing when it comes to diagnosing rv components and making necessary repairs and improvements to your RV. I have recommended his videos to everyone I encounter with a RV. Keep up the good work sir and thank you for all you do for us!!!!
I have a 2021 cougar 29mbs. Recently I heard someone mention take out air duct diverter at each duct opening. I tried this and oh my God, the air flow I experienced coming out was tremendous. Cooling down the unit alot quicker than with them in. Yes now you see a whole where the duct opening is, but the change is air flow I believe is well worth it! Have a great day!
I did this and installed it myself spring 2021. I wished I done it sooner. It works awesome. My first use when turned it on blew out sawdust out our duct work. Lol.
**Edit for two days after install** It was mid 90s today and when we came home after all day of jot being home, it was 69 degrees! We absolutely wish we would have done this sooner. Make sure you tape up any cracks as well! I just installed this two days ago and instantly felt the difference. All throughout the day, it worked great keeping the living room at 68 or 69 but during the evening, it seemed to struggle to keep it at 71. And, it definitely isn't quieter. It seems louder. We'll see how the temps do today. It did help our mid bunk airflow considerably!
You ain’t kiddin. It was 105 here in Dripping Springs with a 112 heat index. I seriously can’t wait to buy the RV,looking to get the ball rolling in the 16-18 months. And yes, as soon as we have a likely delivery date on the RV, I will be signing myself and the husband up for the owners course and I may pull the trigger on tech too for a bit extra income. Can’t wait to meet ya in person!
The bad side affect of the Airflow unit you talk about has a huge flaw. It has air bypassing the filters pumping dust through the duct work and in to the evaporator coil. The won’t respond to that even after multiple pictures showing how it by passes. Yes it does bring temps down but it’s with a long term price of excessive dust going through your ac unit.
@@NationalRVTrainingAcademy Coleman Mach. When you remove the air shower plate, you at that point turn your dump vents into inlet vents. They aren’t sealed. I’ve tried reaching out to them many times to no response. What you see over time is dust tracking all around the dump vents and it collects in your whole system. Anytime you want to see the long term affects of it let me know, more than happy to show you first hand.
#1, Who in the world thought it was a good idea to make the A/C covers black! #2, Why have not more company's not gone to mini splits? I have been heating and cooling my 1000 square ft. house for over 10 years with no issues and almost can not hear it running when on. And it only needs a 20 amp. circuit. I turn on the A/C in my tiny 17 ft. trailer and forget about talking even when set on low.
So for YEARS they were all white shrouds. IT was the customers that asked for black to make it look better. I put on white. Mini-splits are good, but not designed to take the bouncing of going down the road. nor will it be covered by the warranty. Once they make them mobile then you will see a huge change.
Great...my inner Todd Henson had the Two Minute Tech Tip Tuesday down pat...now I need to learn it all over again! On another note, is having ducted A/C more of a detriment to air flow than a unit that just expels the air from one location? If anyone wants to learn any other ways to improve air flow, order the online NRVTA Training Program (or attend in person). Todd gives other great tips there! Now how's that for a sponsorship?
Only problem is for us RV owners who don't have a ducted systems, RV Airflow doesn't offer a unit for us. :( We just have one simple Coleman Mach3 13.5k unit that supplies cold air out the vents of the AC only. Is anyone aware of a way to help (increase) cold air flow for us?? Thanks
That's a great question. Usually the most efficient way to cool a room in an RV is using a direct dump. I'm sure there's a way to get a little more cool air out of their AC.
Not sure if there's any one pattern that would be superior to another. Direct dump is the best way to cool one room. an insert like the RV AirFlow would help increase air flow. One tip is to not close off one rooms vents. if using vents make sure they are all open. or use direct dump.
Most Dometic AC's come with a Thermostat. Unless you have your AC controls in the ceiling on the AC vent cover. Some AC's that are standalone don't have the wiring for a thermostat. You'll need to research your specific unit and see what it has.
It's not too difficult to do. The hardest part is fishing the wires to where you want the thermostat located. It's 3 wires 12v+, 12v-, and Comm line will run from the AC control box to the thermostat. I would suggest that you get the wiring diagram on your specific AC model and find where those 3 wires are located. Reading forums and researching the topic will also help.
@@NationalRVTrainingAcademy I realize now after checking my manual there is a thermostat of sorts in the ceiling controls. However, all it allows is the compressor shuts off and on depending where the dial is set. The fan runs continuously.
they only work for the Front ducted units on an Alliance. this isn't designed for direct dump only units. You can always reach out to RV Airflow and see if they plan to design something that increases direct AC dump efficiency
Since these units direct the air into the ducting I would say that it would work. RV Airflow has a list of compatible AC units and the directions needed to install. Fully ducted units may require you to access it from the roof.
The RV air conditioner needs to be completely redesigned it's terribly inefficient. The evaporator and condenser need to be split apart which technically they are on the rooftop unit but because they sit so close to each other it starts achieving equilibrium. If they could design a mini split unit that is designed to handle vibrations like the rooftop air conditioners. It would be a huge win for the RV community. The problem with the rooftop units is the evaporator is outside which is not good because it loses a lot of its cooling abilities. To make things even worse it then gets pushed through small poorly insulated ducting that the sun is beating on the roof. So by having the evaporator completely by itself INSIDE the RV and the condenser OUTSIDE. It would maximize efficiency. And would also give the option to use as a heating source in the winter so this could also replace your gas fired furnace in most areas
There are components in the RV that could definitely use an overhaul in design. A big consideration is the portability aspect of the RV. These are subject to a major earthquake every time we move them. Mini splits are amazing and there are plenty of DIY RVer's that have went with that on their coaches. Thanks for sharing.
Dometic products suck and their customer service is even worse! Would anyone from Dometic like to dispute my assertion? Anyone? I’ve been waiting since 2020…
Sadly there are many brands within the RV industry that aren't that great. Fortunately there are other brands that are superior to Dometic that would be an easy replacement.
We have had one for three years and what a positive difference. I highly recommend this product.
I made this upgrade two years ago. I measured airflow before and after installation. Definitely increased airflow by over 40%
The RV Air Flow works great. I live in Arizona and I live full time in my RV and I really like it and it works.
Thanks for sharing.

That's awesome. Todd does too!!
Kool RV system channels 100% of the cool air directly into the ducts for roughly 1/2 the cost.
Made my own two years ago, same improvement. Much quieter and way better airflow.
DIY for the win!!

Waiting patiently for the RV Airflow system to come out for the Furrion A/C....
Have you reached out to them to see if they are creating one?
@@NationalRVTrainingAcademy I did and they were in the process of finalizing it a couple months ago

Same here. Direct Dump is the best way to cool down a single room.
Made my own for about $10. Difference was incredible.
We'll have to try that out.
