I watched Deadly Eyes with my friend and when the rats (Dachshunds in rat costumes) attacked Scatman Crothers, he yelled, 'Oh, come on! You know they're licking him!'.
Tenebrae is definitely my favorite of 1982. The score (essentially by Goblin though credited to the individual members since the band had broken up) might be my favorite in any horror movie, I play it all the time. I like Suspiria and Inferno but prefer movies to have a screenplay that makes a lick of sense, so Deep Red and Tenebrae, which are just as beautifully shot but also well-written whodunits, top those for me.
The soundtrack to Tenebrae is so so good. Between that and the more sleek modern aesthetic (though i love a real grimy 70s giallo), it might be my favorite Argento movie.
Some really good films here, of course Creepshow is the most fun you will have seeing scared this summer, but also really liked Tenebre too. Love these thank you for doing it
I can remember the movie “Q” showing on HBO constantly back in the 80’s..And I mean constantly!.And as a kid I was super impressed that the Dodgers 3B Ron Cey had a small part in it
I never noticed that damn ashtray on Creepshow! Ed Harris’ dance had been a family favorite of ours since I was a kid the ‘80s. My younger brother use to do it all the time. It’s one of our favorite scenes. 🎶 “Don’t let goooo” 🎶
Love your channel, I grew up in the early 80’s and use to watch all these old horror movies when I was a kid.Brings back lots of memories. I just wanted to thank you for this channel and especially the 80’s Project. I always look forward to new episodes of it.
Creepshow. My pick for the best horror anthology film made so far. The tagline really does keep its promise: "the most fun you'll ever have being scared!" At least when it comes to horror anthology films.
They say that the nightmare that inspired The Terminator was the result of Cameron, penniless, living off left over room service as he tried to recut Piranha 2.
Man I miss Scatman Crothers, he always brought a bit of class to everything he was in :( Also, that annoying kid in Trick or treats is giving me nightmarish flashbacks to Ace Ventura, Pet detective Jr. ((shudder))
A super interesting thing about Centipede Horror is that it was written by Amy Chan Suet-Ming, the only woman writing Category 3 horror in 80s Hong Kong. Heck, due to systemic sexism, women rarely are given opportunities to write horror films, much less given a second film to start establishing a brand. She also wrote the exceptional and similar Red Spell Spells Red, which focuses on a scorpion curse instead!
I had no idea there had been a 2002 version of 'The Rats'. Just looked it up, and it's from the director of 'Child's Play 2' and 'Man's Best Friend' - and Madchen Amick's in it? Why haven't I seen this movie?!?
I have the hugest crush on Fritz Weaver and they're creeping up on you reminds me of the night gallery episode of Arcnophobia, not as graphic but it kinda has the same themes. Just replace cockroaches with spiders
I watched Centipede Horror back when I was a little kid. Here in Thailand, this movie was pretty big deal. Also, the poster in this video is Thai version. 🐛🐛🐛
I love anthology films some of favourite horrors, I saw creepshow 2 before 1 but i always seek out multiple story horror films, maybe a good dead last or just your ten favourite anthology films there Josh?
there is an anthology dead last from pretty early on, and i've always wanted to a follow up to but haven't as of yet. in that one, i chose the movies out of hat, and i would want to do a second part where it's more of the bigger name anthologies
@@movietimelines I'll have to delve into your back catalogue I've followed you a long time and watched some, amazed ive missed that, or maybe i have watched it ans forgotten lol, 42 and i swear my memories are turning mushy already! With friends like these is probably the oddest anthology I've seen one segment is a sentient fridge mold dude
Recently watched an old British documentary about the video nasty overreaction in the 80s. I think its on Prime. Its really great & features many of the main figures involved including politicians of the day. Mary whitehouse was the legendary figurehead of the outraged crowd. The original Karen.
Of this block of movies I only know of three q the wing serpent. Piranha 2 which I knew actually existed but everybody kept telling me I dreamed it or I didn't know I was talking about at least you proved me right. I thought it was a good movie of course at the time I watched it I was still 11 or 12. But the one I love the best of all these and still love to watch creepshow.
The family rented a laserdisc player in the early to mid 80s. The movie that got the most views on it was CREEPSHOW! For some reason as a preteen I misremembered the cockroach story title as "They're Coming All Over You". Whoops!
Why did Romero loose his magic when he left Pittsburgh? I liked Land of the Dead but it's not the repeater that any of his local friends and family films are.
right. i'm talking about two different people. when i say steve wayne, it's adrienne barbeau, and when i say George Romero's former wife, the woman on screen is Christine Forrest, who was married to Romero when Creepshow was made.
I love Tenebrae. My favorite Argento film, closely followed by Susperia. Creepshow is great, Creepshow 2 is pretty good, and Creepshow 3 is horrendous. Do not watch Creepshow 3. It's rotten. It's one of those movies you hear about and think, "Oh, Come on. It can't be THAT bad." No, it is that bad.
@@movietimelines how about some more movies from the 30's in another category? I would like to hear your opinion on The Thin Man 1934 and the 5 sequels that span into the 40's. Not sure what category to put them in. They're mystery, murder, humor based in a Dashiel Hammett novel.
I must have watched Creepshow a hundred times and never caught the ashtray! WOW! Mind blown.
I watched Deadly Eyes with my friend and when the rats (Dachshunds in rat costumes) attacked Scatman Crothers, he yelled, 'Oh, come on! You know they're licking him!'.
I've never heard of that movie but I love old horror and I have a weeniedog 😂 gotta watch now!
Tenebrae is my favourite of this bunch. Seen it so many times. It's one I always upgrade. I haven't got around to watching my 4k disc yet though.

I love the Vangelis music that goes with the 80s project. It's soothing.
The soundtrack to Tenebrae is so so good. Between that and the more sleek modern aesthetic (though i love a real grimy 70s giallo), it might be my favorite Argento movie.

“Who’s lookin to be thrilled “ 🤣🤣🤣
I never noticed that damn ashtray on Creepshow!

Love Tenebrae. Sleezy but classy, like only Argento can do.
I have seen Creepshow many times. Great movie, but I never noticed the ashtray. Thanks for pointing that out.
Dude I just found this channel and I can't stop watching. Great work!
The mustachioed man in "Trick or Treats" was also in one of my fave 80s movies, "Cloak & Dagger"
Final class reunion. I thought I was the only one who knew of this comedic horror movie. I love this movie.
Blackie Dammett (John Kiedis) always a sign of quality.
Damn I've watched Creepshow a ton of time and didn't realize the ashtray was in every story 🤦♂️ doh
I would love that "Bugs Bunny Superstar" poster from "Trick or Treats" movie.

You forgot to mention that was Blackie Dammett in class reunion AKA Anthony Keidis Dad from the RHCP. I’m only ever seen him in Lethal Weapon 😂
Creepshow. My pick for the best horror anthology film made so far. The tagline really does keep its promise: "the most fun you'll ever have being scared!" At least when it comes to horror anthology films.
Yes!!!!! I just started two Pt.6's and a Pt.4! thank you. keep em coming. Good luck on the new gig.
Love these! Thank you!
Centipede Horror was my favorite movie in 2019. I saw this at an Alamo draft house. This movie is awesome.
They say that the nightmare that inspired The Terminator was the result of Cameron, penniless, living off left over room service as he tried to recut Piranha 2.
Another great video, good luck for monday Josh
Piranha II made me have an irrational fear of man eating flying fish for the duration of the 80s 😂
Dennis Wolfberg?! I used to love that guy!
Man I miss Scatman Crothers, he always brought a bit of class to everything he was in :( Also, that annoying kid in Trick or treats is giving me nightmarish flashbacks to Ace Ventura, Pet detective Jr. ((shudder))
I hate to be that guy, but Lisa Langlois, has the French pronunciation, like Lang-wah!
Chuck Berry 😂 they should have checked the women's bathroom for cameras too IYKYK
Cant wait for the 4-5 hour compilation!!
The Pumpkinhead series might need a revisit.

Watched the Killing Hour on VHS. Brilliant film.
This decade had everything. Superfun.
Keep getting the high hat😂😂😂

i'm actually curious now...Was Fluffy from Harry Potter named after the Fluffy from Creepshow?

To answer the Question He asked at 24:45.
$200 a Month in 1982 would be the Equivalent of $649 a Month in 2024.

MILLER'S CROSSING REFERENCE!
Good luck for Monday Josh
thank you!
yeah Pittsburgher here
Adrienne Barbeau from Creepshow was married to John Carpenter, not George Romero.
right. i'm talking about two different people. when i say steve wayne, it's adrienne barbeau, and when i say George Romero's former wife, the woman on screen is Christine Forrest, who was married to Romero when Creepshow was made.
Hell yeah!
Creepshow may not have triggered my disgust of cockroaches but it sure as hell didn't help!

They Fly Now?
Where did you get the list of all these?
Painstakingly compiled from both Letterboxd and IMDB

13:37 no way this was made under 100k
Creepshow is the best one hands down. But this makes me want to watch Q
oh, yeah, Q is totally worth a watch. we need to do a Larry Cohen Dead Last....
AKA the best horror films period.......
Q looks more like a pterodactyl
$200 in today's money would be $649.84.
oh, sorry. i meant how much a place like that would go for now.
@@movietimelines I’d say 650 bucks is still pretty reasonable. 😄
yes, but a place like that in the hollywood hills would rent for around 4 grand now.
Looks up Chuck Berry pee reference.......Oh. WTF is wrong with people...Stars or not
📼
Do you only do horror movies?
nope. there's also the Sci-Fi version, which covers sci-fi and fantasy, and some other stuff.

my lord Trick or Treats is boring
the best thing about it is the vhs cover art
Creepshow by a country mile!
