Belfast, 1998, cassette version, headphones, 5 minutes of pure clarity and heaven. Mind was at peace, no cares in the world, dancing away, so happy and sad at the same time. Still remember those moments to this day.
I've never seen 500 days of summer but I did see this band live in Newcastle once. The girl on keyboards had herself a cup of tea while she was playing the songs. Now that's rock n roll.
Sure it was tea we used to use that trick when watching footy facing the pitch, it was gin and tonic. Cup and saucer works best as no-one questions etiquette.
I've danced in the kitchen with my Beautiful wife to this. Sadly we lost her so I play this and loose myself for 5 and a bit minutes. Nothing lasts forever, tell whoever it is what they mean to you please x
Played a free gig one summer in botanical gardens one evening, 5000 drunk people bopping in the sun to this song...... Not often theres no trouble in glasgow at gatherings but the atmosphere was class! One of ma fave memories growing up
Saw them in Rome, Italy... Some stadium at the edge of town... It could hold 16000 people... We were around 400...i was invited to go dance on stage... I didn't... Didn't dare... Wish I had
I have tried my best to get fed up of this magical jam, can't wait to finish typing this comment so I can press play again, thank you so so much B&S!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@vaseofflowers4619h fuckup. It’s of it’s time. We don’t have to change everything to suit the current world view. Erasing the past to accommodate your feelings is an obscene concept.
Ritchie (the drummer) used to live in my home town and played in a band with some people I know, and he worked in Our Price (record shop) for a while. Really nice guy, always friendly. I've always thought it was amazing to see him go off and do so well for himself.
amazing. i found this song off a friend at uni like in 2006 but kinda hadnt listend to it in a ages now im back on it lol if you like thos song try Nobodys Empire. im a cuckoo
If anyone wanted to hear their other great songs, I would recommend ‘It Could Have Been a Brilliant Career’, ‘Step Into My Office, Baby’, ‘The State I Am In’ and ‘I’m a Cuckoo’ (The Avalanches remix) 🎼✌️
I'm happy that this song randomly played after my spotify playlist end, this song is my doorway to explore more of great songs that come from this great band. Belle and Sebastian's songs really help me to go through all the pain across final half of my campus life. Listening to their songs while doing tasks, coding, exams, etc, with a happy vibe.
I'm currently finding this to be a really superb tune to enjoy listening to repeatedly - it's defo my tune of the moment - many thanks to such fruits of Belle & Sebastian's creative efforts...
as a fellow scot i must complain...the mighty stuart murdoch is totally underrated as a songwriter a true scottish hero. thanx belle and sebastian a true musical journey through all sorts.

I, I, I, I Love this song. Alan Carr, the comedian mention this Artist and the song on the radio this morning. It got the airplay, as it was one of his favourite choices amongst a list of his other choices. I am so glad he did. This artist needs to get this song on TV. It's a smash, Funky, Banging, Joyful, and Joyous. Full of promise and truth. Also, it has that wicked production of instruments and piano chord progressions, drums, and percussion crashes which reminds me of good soul, funk, 60's Ska'ish tempo and rhythms. Arrrrrman, its getting bought to play in my vehicle.

this song and album are named after the band Arab Strap, who were not happy about having their brand so manifestly enveloped B&S's. Check them out too.

Same! Just watching Teachers on channel 4 player! So good! Blast from the past! The music takes me right back and Andrew Lincoln looks so young! And I’ve just realised the theme is actually a song and it’s played in episode 3 of series 1!

Anyone here cause LOVE BELLE AND SEBASTIAN?????
Lyrics 🍀
A mile and a half on a bus takes a long time
The odour of old prison food takes a long time to pass you by
Day upon day of this wandering gets you down
Nobody gives you a chance or a dollar in this old town
Hovering silence from you is a giveaway
Squalor and smoke's not your style
"I don't like this place"
We better go
Then I compare notes with your older sister
I am a lazy get, she is as pure as the cold driven snow
What did you learn from your time in the solitary?
Cell of your mind?
There was noise, the distraction from anything good
And the old prison food
Colour my life with the chaos of trouble
'Cause anything's better than posh isolation
I missed the bus
You were laid on your back
With the boy with the Arab strap
With the boy from the Arab strap
It's something to speak of the way you are feeling
To crowds there assembled
Do you have to feel you've gone too far?
Everyone suffers in silence a burden
The man who drives minicabs down in old Compton
The Asian man
With his love hate affair
With his racist clientele
A central location for you is a must
As you stagger about making free with your lewd and lascivious boasts
We all know you are soft 'cause we've all seen you dancing
We all know you're hard 'cause we all saw you drinking from noon
Until noon again
You're the boy with the filthy laugh
You're the boy with the Arab strap
Strapped to the table with suits from the shelter shop
Comic celebrity takes a back seat as the cigarette catches
And sets off the smoke alarm
What do you make of the cool set in London?
You're constantly updating your hit parade of your ten biggest wanks
She's a waitress and she's got style
Sunday bathtime could take a while
Colour my life with the chaos of trouble
Thanks We'res this guy from meaningful lyrics 👌
