I NEVER leave comments...... except this time. I am a 71 year old washed up Army and EMS helicopter pilot who retired many years ago and am left with MS FS2020 and XPlane as my outlets. Apparently, this sickness doesn't go away. I am enjoying learning the G1000. I spent many years as an Army Flight Instructor/Instrument Flight Instructor and Instrument Flight Examiner. I said all that to say that I know how things "ought" to be taught. I have never been exposed to any flight subject being more fully explained than this video. KUDOS!! One minor problem. No aircraft in my FS2020 inventory will allow me to "push" the FMS button in order to get to the cursor to load the flight plan. In other words, the "hand" that rotates will not change to a "finger" when resting over the outer FMS knob. I would appreciate a hint if you or anyone else can tell me why this is happening. As it stands, I cannot enter a flight plan manually into the G1000. If you can do it.....it ain't braggin'.
Thanks for the kind words. You need to go into accessibility options and set the cockpit interaction system to Legacy.
Fantastic tutorial. I have found several G1000 tutorials on youtube. Yours is the one I have been looking for. Outstanding, thanks!
First time on the channel, very concise and easy to understand.
Thanks and keep'em coming! !! !!!
Your channel is gold! Thank you for everything.
This channel deserves much more subscribers and support. Thanks so much.
These are so frickin' useful.
Just finished Training and having some issues with the Bushtrips and you've been very helpful so THANKS. ^^
Great Video. Thanks
Nice, thank you.
Simply excellent... You could absolutely sell these video as a course on Udemy :D so, so, sooo well done! Thank you very much :)
Good video. I have done it a few times but I have to confess most of the times I do it the lazy way :)
Thank you sir!
Very helpful
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the super chat Fred, it's very much appreciated, cheers.
Amazing video. Thank you so much. Does this video apply to the G1000 nxi as well ?
Thanks again.
For the most part. There are some slight differences and things you can do in the nxi that don’t work in the stock model.
Thank you for these very useful videos! I might have a silly question though, I am a beginner beginner. How do you know what VOR waypoints to add to the FPL and which you don’t? I noticed the list was pretty long on waypoints but you only added the IPL waypoint. Or were the others part of departure/arrival?
That's my bad, I should have been clearer about that. You're correct, the waypoints that I didn't input between KSAN and IPL are all part of the departure procedure; and the only way to know that is by looking at the chart for the departure itself, which goes all the way out to IPL.
@@FlightSimSchool thank you for your response! Your videos are super clear and very good for beginners!
Thanks Bud. When using the MSFS planning tool (on world map) can you amend the waypoints in the provided list? I can see how to remove unwanted waypoints, but sometimes I know that other waypoints (e.g. VORs) exist which allow me to follow an airway that I can see on a chart, but not on the world map. I know I can programme these into the G1000 (nxi) FP, but I am wondering if I can tailor the world map FP according to reality.
Yep, you need to go into the filters and turn on Navaids first, then you'll see VORs and NDBs. The easiest way to add one to the flight plan is to search for its identifier in the Search box and it should go right to it, then you just click on it and hit Add
Hi, thank you very much for your video! Very helpful!
Unfortunately I didn’t have the possibility to push the inner knob and to insert the flight plan from the G1000. Also layout and captions of the cursor are different. Its because I have the standard edition? I use the standard edition for PC with x box game pass.
Hmmm do you have any addons installed in your community folder?
@@FlightSimSchool No, the folder is empty.
When I pass the cursor over the knob doesn’t appear the hand with the finger pointing upward and to the left. So I’m not allowed to press the knob. The cursor appear in the “rotation” mode, which is different from your version because I don’t have the curved arrow but a hand like this 🤚.
I don’t know why so I thought because we own different versions of the simulator.
Ah! You need to go into general options and click accessibility, then set cockpit interaction system to legacy. That should do it.
@@FlightSimSchool ok now it works! Thank you very much for your precious help!
Great video which will come in. Very handy! I dont have any knobs around the edge of my screens though so can’t do any of it. Anyone have any idea why this might be?
Which plane are you using?
@@FlightSimSchool thanks for replying it’s much appreciated! I’ve just realised the plane I’m using, the beechcraft has the g3x! Can this be used for flight plans?
@@paulscurfieldYes it can, the menus are a bit different but you should still be able to enter the flight plan directly
Okay this is what I was talking about in your recent video when I asked when would you activate the approach You already clicked on the button to load it but when do you activate it
Hi Rickie, I don't need to activate it in the FPL menu, it's automatically going to progress to it once the flight plan sequences to the first waypoint of the approach.
@@FlightSimSchool okay got you Thank you
You mentioned several times during the tutorial that you already know certain information to choose when setting up your procedures, etc. How does one determine which choices are best when you don't know ahead of time which one(s) to choose?
I actually have a video releasing on that topic in the next few weeks. But, to put it simply, you have a look at what procedure lines up the best with your direction of flight. There are a lot of other considerations (including if your plane can fly a given procedure) that I’ll go over in that video, but this is a fine place to start.
how to transfert the flight plan on the co-pilot side to the gps on the pilot side ( on co-pilot side the altitudes are display)
If you're talking about the little pop up window inside the primary flight display when you press FPL button on the pilot's side, I don't think there is a way to see the altitudes there.
@@FlightSimSchool thanks
My flight planer is not displaying time and distance. How to fix it
Do you mean the flight planning screen before loading into the cockpit?
It in the world map
The world map is a bit buggy at times, but you should always be able to see it if you click on Nav Log
how do you install the g1000 on the plane?
Some airplanes are equipped with the G1000 and others aren't. You can't add it on to a plane that has steam gauges.
@@FlightSimSchool awwww man. I wanted to add it to the pipper warrior 3 since that's the closest plane atp flies 😥
how to store the flightplan?
You can’t save the flight plan to reload it later once you’re in the plane, unfortunately.
