They're definitely not Nemona's parents. Nemona said her father is the CEO for the Rotom Phone Company, and since Billy runs Paldea Realty with O'Nare, it can't be them. That aside, it does make a lot of sense for Penny to be one of Peony's daughters. I mean Peony, Peonia, and Penny are all similar names and based on the same plant. Watching them bob their heads to the music while Carmine's dancing is hilarious! I'm glad they did the Pecharunt thing this way instead of just giving you the Pokémon. It adds a lot more lore to what this unique Pokémon is all about. Considering how many problems and setbacks Kieran went through during the main story, it's nice to see him getting his hero/protagonist moment here.
God this quest really shows how great the SV friends are. They've really improved on the character writing for these rival friend groups from past generations. Arven's comment on how much Penny's dad cares really makes you sad when he's lived most of his life, believing his parents didn't care about him. Japan's Okayama Prefecture in southern Honshu is famous for its peaches, however Kitakami is based off Iwate Prefecture and the Tōhoku region of northern Honshu in general, a major apple-producing region which is of course referenced with Dipplin and the orchard! The purple mist that came out of Kieran's fist when he punches is not him being possessed but his anger infusing with the stone which releases a wisp of Pecharunt's aura. Kieran's anger at The Lousy Three ironically resurrects the Pokémon he hates most.

This is just so hilariously ! This whole story comes out of nowhere and is so weird yet oddly fun because it takes itself so seriously.
You didn't get to see it, but if you use any of the Loyal Three or Ogerpon against Pecharunt, there's a special interaction. For the Loyal Three, it's Pecharunt basically calling them traitors and being shocked that they're on the hero's team while with Ogerpon, it's Pecharunt angry at Ogerpon and Ogerpon screaming like "You took EVERYTHING from me" I thought that was a nice touch. Even more of a nice touch that Pecharunt's theme is a remix of the Loyal Three's, to show that it was of course the puppet master of the Loyal Three. Favorite part about this though is how unbothered the Nurse Joy in the background is lol. Pecharunt being at level 88 is so fitting for two reasons. In Japan, the number 8 represents good luck. That’s why most of Pecharunt’s stats are 88, and why the Loyal Three learn moves every 8 levels. Not to mention 8 is also the same shape as Pecharunt (and the Lousy 3)’s Toxic Chains.
Japanese peaches are grown in controlled conditions, covered with small paper bags while they are green to protect them and encourage them to grow pale and sweet. During the summer gift-giving season, chugen, these peaches become a prized gift to give to loved ones or important clients, referenced with the Mythical Pecha Berry being in a box! Now with Kieran and Carmine returning to Blueberry Academy and the epilogue completed, that means you get to invite Nemona, Arven, Penny, Carmine, and Kieran as coaches to the league club room! And with the interactions that come with the coaches talking to each other, Nemona reveals that she got that Kommo-o in Kitakami while she talks to Hassel!

49:33 ...can i just point out how absurdly strong this implies the player and nemona are? kieran is actively holding off an entire town's worth of people, including trainers, some being really powerful (ahem, arven and penny) at the same time, for a significant amount of time. even if he doesn't win, that's...really strong. and kieran tells the player that nemona "destroyed him"! even if part of that's his own self-confidence issues making him downplay how well he did, that's still crazy.

Yeah pecharunt ordered their lackeys to steal the masks and killed their original trainer and now they can finally bring vengeance
The Loyal/Lousy three also trigger an unique interaction from Pecharunt, further implying they used to be a team. It's the same over all three however...

The reason why this circle of friends works so well is because they're constantly bickering and taking passive jabs at each other, like ACTUAL real friends in real life do.

I find it interesting how the people under Pecharunt's control were all dancing. It reminds me of this phenomenon from 506 years ago, The Dancing Plague of 1518.
Believe it or not, this actually happened, doctor's notes and various other chronicles from that era can confirm it.
It happened in a village in what is now France, this one woman started dancing spontaneously out of nowhere and eventually other people started dancing too, but it was not for fun, the people couldn't control themselves, some kept dancing until they passed out from exhaustion.
To this day, historians are still debating what could have caused it.
I was just about to mention this! I feel like this storyline was somewhat based off that, too
Not helping is that one possible cause of the plague was because the victims got high from fungal poisoning due to eating infected bread.

There is a different dialogue if you choose Arven or Penny. If you chose Arven, they would say he looked embarassed. This implies that there is still some of their consciousness in there.
His movements are stiff since he couldn't dance well (could be the backpack), while Penny was hitting that chicken
@@Lightdragon773 Their dialogue would have implied this but they said he looks embarrassed, as opposed to Penny's who is shown to be shy but somehow acts she was way into it.
The dex entry for Pecharunt even says that those that ate its mochis will have their desires amplified. If Arven feels embarrassed, it would mean he doesn't really want to show how he truly is. But for Penny's, I think she really wants to show how she really is but has a hard time to do so in real life.
This would make sense for Nemona because her true desire is to battle, and her dialogue just lets her true self bleed out despite being subjugated.
Been loving the way Pokemon have finally been giving the mythicals love more with each game since oras by including at least a way to get one of them in game. Plus the story for Pecharunt was quite an enjoyable one! Going to miss these peeps but glad we can still see them in blueberry!
Kieran was just going through it in the DLC. There was no mochi poisoning there, just abandonment issues. I thought it was ultimately a nice story because they avoided that particularly played out cliche.

I doubt it was meant as a Halloween release, as doing it now means it comes out during mochitsuki festivals.
Also, you weren't really "choosing" either Arven or Penny for anything, you were yelling out to them. You just got to choose whose name to yell.

22:28 Interestingly, some rural parts of the US have shops that work like this sometimes. Bought a pumpkin like that once. There was even a sign allowing it and a collection box so the money wouldn't blow away in the wind. Perks to living in small town communities.

- No, Terastallization always worked in Kitakami. Kieran didn't while battling there because he (and other Blueberry students) didn't have a Tera Orb yet.

- Pecharunt has a rather negative reaction if any of the Loyal Three fight it. Likewise, Ogerpon will get mad at Pecharunt.
- Carmine and Kieran is League Club regulars, like the BB League Elite Four.
I've never seen Carmine and Kieran in the League club 🤔 unless they unlock after this event
This has got to be the weirdest story ever in the Pokémon games
When I first heard that this story was going to involve mind control and zombie horror tropes, I was prepared to be terrified, like the Seven School Mysteries in US/UM. 😱
But then Carmine and everyone else did the Funky Chicken, and I couldn’t stop laughing. 🤣

33:33 tbf, there is a common denominator but there is a chance the brainwashed townspeople could just restrain Kieran and force feed him mochi. He managed to hold back the town for a short time, but they might have overpowered him in the long run.
Also, I would hope there's some kinda compulsory effect from the taste of the mochi. But if not, good lord, eating Pecharunt's mochi it launched at them was the stupidest decision Arven and Penny ever made lol

I feel like pecharunt is a tribute to YoKai Watch since weird stuff happens to the people who are possessed in the show, and the Loyal 3 are based on YoKai.
No they are based on the Momotaro legend. A boy born from a peach. His three servants are a spirit monkey, spirit pheasant, and spirit dog.
Orgrepon is based on the oni they fight.

Plus being based on a traditional japanese tale is like, their thing. We even had an entire sub set of yo kai based on more traditional ones
In my language, after Penny complains about her father, Arven says 'Come on, having a father that cares can't be that bad'. And I was playing Violet. I felt my heartstrings literally being pulled by that.
even if we see our Paldean and Kitakami friends again in some other game, they'll never be the same as they are now because we'll be 'someone' else; to them, we'll be strangers.

Nemona picks the secondary type of the starter she chose for this battle regardless of starter. So Quaquaval gets fighting type, Meowscarada gets dark type, and Skeledirge gets ghost type
Fun fact the mochi mayhem dance is based off the dancing plague of 1518 during the Roman empire where people took to dancing for weeks and caused mass deaths of around 400 people some believe the event too be caused due to stress and mass hysteria. Which gives the mochi mayhem epilogue a very dark and mature undertone too the ending of the games story.

Against sylveon, i went with my tinkaton, Mjolnira because she can handle sylveon's fairy type moves since tinkaton is part steel type and she has gigaton hammer.

So once you get the mythical pecha berry you can get the pecharunt at anytime? Also where did you get your guys outfit
You unlock the outfit by rematching Drayton in the BB League club room. If you rematch all the BBL elite four, they all give you stuff.
You can get the item whenever, but you'll need to have completed the main game, the Academy Ace Tournament and the stories of both DLCs to actually start the event and get Pecharunt.

I guess they got inspiration from the music "Odoru Pompokolin" (Dance the Pompokolin, can be simply understood as Let's Dance) of Chibi Maruko-chan to make them dance. And Maruko's real name is Momoko, means peach.
