This is one of the few channels where after finding it I went back to watch all of the older videos regardless of wether they’re the current project. I think what sets this channel apart from others aside from the film quality and excellent story telling is the aesthetic, it seems you make content because you want to and as a side project rather than a mouse chasing the cheese because they want to make it big on UA-cam or be an influencer. You channel is unique and your projects are intriguing. It feels like a passion project. Keep it up

David your videos are like a fine whisky in a sea of coors light. The pacing and stillness of your videos invites the audience to slow down and enjoy well crafted art. Thank you for keeping us all up to date on your adventures. Might I suggest a bit of a merch campaign to make the videos worth your while? I (and I am sure other subscribers) would love to support more quality content in whatever way we can!

maybe there are not many people who appreciate not shouting at a camera and obnoxious music in videos but I'm happy your channel exists , a channel that operates within highly defined standards and structure in its videos. I would like you to do more uncut videos among your regular uploads so that we could follow along on minor details of your projects and workshop and at the same time it wouldn't consume all your energy editing every video.

Yeah. This. There is a small group of like minded people who love what you do. We are each pursuing our own dreams in our own way amidst the challenges of having limited budget, limited time and pressing family needs. Maybe only one or two people who share our passion will ever cross our paths, so this channel becomes a community. We’re friends who’ve never met.

I keep coming back because I wish it was me making this content. There is no other channel like yours. The cinematography and storytelling is precise, just like the amount of attention you put into restoring a car. This is a beautiful place to be in, a calm workshop with old machines, remnants of when the world was more sane, opposite to what they feed us with today (as you mentioned people screaming in videos etc). On the other hand, looking at number of views in your recent videos, it is also a sad reminder people cant appreciate such work. Personally though, I would watch anything you make haha.

I’ve been following you since the Baltic Sea Circle Rally. Answering your question, I come back to this channel because of the creationism. The way you combine photography, cinematography with roadtrips and repair work on old cars. It’s just perfection. If I am able to ask for something, please keep road-tripping, please keep restoring.

  • @jb-hw9if
    @jb-hw9if Рік тому +3

Both your mechanical and cinematographic ability shines. Road trips are a great escape and those adventures are also part of your channel. The story of the build, of great cars by the way, and then the road trip I find engaging and inspirational. UA-cam is a tough one, cheap or sensational content unfortunately spreads and swamps the algorithm. But there's a crowd of us seeking to watch the content you produce...interesting cars, builds, trips wrapped in stylishly produced videos.

Why do i come back. Because of You, The quality of your content, The passion you have. Its all amazing. I dont care if its a Euro car or an American. You could work on a electric bike and id watch every video. You tell stories through passionate videography and for me its something i admire so very much. You dont have to have some crazy background to do that. Your willingness to jump in and just learn is everything. While youtube may sadly never bless you with the algorithm. I'm blessed with every video you choose to make; to watch and i will do so until you choose to stop. Much love from the US~

You’re channel is one of two that I watch consistently. I still sometimes go back and watch the old videos. Since I showed this channel to my girlfriend its the only car related channel that she looks forward to watching due to the takes and simplicity of what you do. Beautiful pictures and video. I look forward to the same content you have been putting out… roadtrips and the honesty behind the struggles of fixing and driving “old cars”. This channel motivates me to fix and want to take my 85 alfa romeo on a 3000 mile roadtrip

As most people commented its about the aestetics combined with the satisfaction from you perfecting yet another detail in the project car. This is what I like to watch on my iPad when cozying up in a dim-lit corner of my home the last hour before going to bed.
But to be honest I have to say for this project car I'm a bit amused with the stereotypical clash between the neverending, unpredictable breakdowns of an old french car and the patient struggle of a meticulous german mechanic.

I can only speak for myself ofcourse, but I very much think this will apply to most of your viewers. Your channel seems te be one of the rare channels who dont favor succes over genuineness and quality. Also your story is very relatble to a car guy who works on his own cars without real technical background or education. It inspires me to keep on working on the cars even if it sometimes feels like a never ending gig(like your 205 right now).

  • @t0nit04
    @t0nit04 Рік тому +3

What is so great about this channel? The love! The love in cars. The love in cutting and editiing and filming. The somewhat unusual approach. The similarities in my own car projects. The mistakes that are not cut out. Your work is polished (in other words: made with a distinctive and unique style) but shows flaws, problems and authenticity which makes it so relatable. Season 1 lacked a bit of a "story" but that got way better.
And furthermore, if we had met somehow without me knowing this channel, we probably wouldn't even have talked that much with each other. And i am more than happy to see people sharing the same passion, even if i would have never expected this. Yeah, pretty superficial, i know.
So just keep it rolling as long as it makes you happy and share your projects with us please. It does not have to be a RB26 or 2JZ swapped Trabbi to get our attention. I wish there would be more channels like this! (I dig Jethro Bronner's or Ultimostile's Alfa videos, or Greasy Fingers Porsche stuff - but there must be more out there)

Quite frankly, I find myself coming back to this channel because it is the only channel I know, that conveys the feeling that I get when I work on and involve myself with my vintage cars. 80s Merc and 70s Mazda. Sure, they can be pure pain like your driveshaft issue, but taking your time and just enjoying the process of working on them and therefore becoming a part of the vehicle's history feels just so special to me. Your channel is one of the very few that appreciate and display that unique factor of classic car ownership, that only a few other hobbies can be compared to.

My absolute favourite car related channel is yours, love the quality of the content, both cinematics and your personal approach to working and enjoying these cool cars. You could do pretty much anything as long as you don`t pretend to be someone else. Surely not easy to work for others then being a father and husband and then do these also, but maybe have someone help you to churn out more of the projects, or have a separate playlist for how to videos. Maybe attend at classic car meets, engage with viewers in some way. Sadly you can have the best business if people don`t know about it. Best wishes!

Well.. I keep coming back here for the quality, sometimes the hard hitting reality, and the forever poetry that fills your videos.
I could not care less to see an overhyped moron pointing the camera at his own ego while screaming.
I am more of a "Davide Cironi drive experience" kind of guys. Quality, experiences and sometimes unintended valuable teachings.
I can watch all the DDE, Stradman etc... i want, i won't remember it as a close the Tab. My best advice to you would be: YOU DO YOU! To answer your question. This channel in addition to Soup Classic Motoring are those which I keep coming back to. The reason(s)? The combination of restoration, narrative, visuals, editing and storytelling. Standouts in your case, were both the restoration/conversion and subsequent road trips of both George and the black 924 rally, with a particular highlight being your stop over at Cool and Vintage. The Pug needs to be binned if I am being honest, there is something sinister about that car. I repeat the sentiment of @InverseTundraON you could work on anything, as long as the aforementioned components play out in your content then I am a fan for life. Keep up the good fight. BTW you inspired me to start my own project. Land Rover Discovery 300TDi 1998

Your channel is one of my favourites because of the unique visual storytelling! Some things that might help you grow could be: More dramatic titles and thumbnails to videos and more frequent uploads. You dont have to sell your soul and start to shout at the camera as you said, but minor changes could have a big impact. Maybe more these type of uncut videos side by side with your beautiful thought out videos. I would love to see this channel grow because it truly deserves a lot more eyeballs!

I found your channel because was looking for some content on safari 924. Stayed for an amazing climate. Your videos have wonderful cinematics, very plastic shots. Slow pacing makes viewer to feel like being part of those roadtrips. You inspire to take a car and drive somewhere, see the landscapes and just enjoy. I feel like this level can only be achieved by creator who does only what feels like doing, as a passion project. The reason I watch is because I want to see what else you can show, not to see what I ordered to see.
Unfortunately by following this road you won't get millions of views as YT became source of getting fun quickly, for short attention span. Your content is for calm evenings to relax and feel that atmosphere. If you can afford to, i would love for you to just keep doing things your way not minding the view count.
There's plenty examples of channels not chasing the algorithm while still being successful, I guess if it doesn't feel like a grind you can still pride yourself on making a specific nieche of people happy, while hopefully having fun with youtube as a hobby.

Former Product Planner here for two of the world's largest automakers. You keep mentioning your lack of qualifications, yet you firmly have my interest. What would I like to see? Well, ironically, you have a few vehicles around and work WITH and ON them in a very similar way as I do with my odd little fleet of passionately loved vehicles. Since there are fewer and fewer people like you and I who actually enjoy BOTH the work and the time enjoying them - more of both? The story(s) of the cars are fun. The drives are fun. At the moment you need more work on them and that's actually what I would like to see more of. Work. Let's see the measurement process for those failing RF axles to determine which is too short or too long, then the process of obtaining the correct one. Etc. In other words, dive right in and let us sit in your shop and listen to your blend of philosophy and technical commentary interwoven as you get these girls back on the road. And yes - I'd wear a shirt that says "Only A Roadtrip Away" - especially if it had a nice artistic outline of a 944 on it (mine's Guard's Red)....

I've been trying to figure out why the camping Porsche seems to pull me back. I watch it to calm myself, but I cannot figure out why it does that...only that it does. The Baltic tour does the same thing, but I have a better idea as to why...the cinematography, drone work and music is exquisite. When you are up in Lofoten was the best!!! Just WOW!!!
I subscribe to a Norwegian gentleman (Bjorn Andreas Bull-Hansen) and he is having some of the same issues with UA-cam as you hinted to. His response was, he will make the content that his viewers want and if the algorithm doesn't like it, he's okay with that.
For your own sake, please keep doing it until the passion starts to wane...even if nobody is watching.

You know me..i wish you’d do a spiced up 924NA and drive that around, but thats just me projecting my own wishes and dreams onto others, so dont take that too seriously.

That dead 79 is my very first car, now a parts car for a decade. I don't think going back to 2.0 is going to happen, but there will be transaxle stuff coming. The 931 is going to be proper old school, but there is no cash to fund it right now. It's also the reason my 79 shell still exists in full - way easier to swap parts over.

The 309 has different steering, arms and hub carriers, the subframe is the same. It‘s also obvious when looking at arch to wheel clearance on mine vs the race car. You zig while others zag. Most car channels provide a superficial engagement of the vehicle. Its either the latest unaffordable supercar being reviewed, or people reviewing cars from the past promoting either and insurance company or their used vehicle online sale website.
You are different. You are the opposite of Tik Tok superficiality. You care about the content in an unselfish way with no desparate bid to flatter the viewer's ego or to monetize your content. You do it for love and passion. However, conceptualizing, shooting, editing and finalizing a video such as yours takes time. Unless you are independently wealthy, you can only do it so long without being rewarded for such work.
Your choice is to continue making content and setup a Patreon account and ask viewers to chip in a few bucks for early access to content. Then on a time-delayed basis, you release such content to UA-cam to keep the channel going.
The world and by extension the algorithms which control the world do not always reward the best quality. In an attention economy measured in seconds, those who trade in visual, compositional narrative don't always get the most clicks. Yet UA-cam is the platform for a creator to get noticed and to establish a following.

Let me be clear, I love your channel and your builds, but most people would not bother watching a build series on cheap cars that are older than they are.
