I remember getting the original, 1995 Buzz Lightyear figure for Christmas many many MANY years ago. Little sad that I lost the wings and backpack, cause it was a lot of fun to play with. Hopefully whoever gets what's left of him either has the money for replacement parts or is good at using their imaginations.
I don't know if you're into Revoltech figures, but did you see the Revoltech Woody and Buzz Lightyear Figures coming out in August? They look sweet. Planning to get them.
I had one kinda like that... It's very old, and it had a couple little sound bites (like.. 6 ) if you pressed the 3 colored buttons. He had an "alarm mode" which would basically make him say things when someone came by. His wings popped out, but they didn't light up. He had the laser though! But one day it jammed in and wouldn't come back out. I might just get this one, the old one is old and stuff all dirt and all that...
@noence Yes.. Its really worth getting especially if you are a teen or a grown adult like me..lol.. I have both Woody and Buzz. But I wouldn't recommend them to kids though as it might not last long in their hands. But I reckon you're a young adult, so shouldn't be a problem. Just take care of it. This replica is better in the hands of serious toy collectors. Kids should be getting the ordinary ones that cost much less than the one from the Toy Story Collection series.
@optibotimus Haha.. No there isn't reset button. I took off the back pack behind to check a couple of days ago after watching the movie. The battery compartment (3 AA's) is exactly as it is in the movie, but there is no reset button and the switch for Play to Demo mode as you may already know, isn't located at the battery compartment as shown in the movie, but right above his waist area.

The "communicator" actually was a sticker in the movie, he peeled it off when he realized he was just a toy :( So it's essentially "movie acurate" But it would be cool if they had put some sort of mold or other detail into it. Good review, great lighting!
they need to make one with an actual laser instead of just a light. the wings should be a bit longer and the button on either side of his helmet's visor should retract the visor like in the movies. also karate chop action would definatley kick ass!

That's a really awesome toy! i wish we had toys like that when i was a kid!! when he's in his regular mode and you were talking he moved his head, but he seemed to always look towards you. does he sense which direction the sound is coming from and look that way, or is it just coinsidence? also, i noticed some lego TS in the background at the end.. are you a lego fan by chance?
lol. Good review! they try to mostly try to stay as close to the movie as possible, so things like the Wrist communicator would be a sticker (It was in the film)

its not a show, cgi cartoon, its a freakin movie!!! the first Disney/Pixar film to be made, as well as the first feature film in history to be made entirely with CGI!!! its a movie
So awesome, it's so great that these have been made, and these reviews get down to every aspect, good job :) . I can see quite a few people don't understand the whole "collector" aspect of this collection, they don't seem to understand that there are toys you can get too.. Keep it up :D

Hey Paul, Im not sure if you've seen it yet but her in AZ I found that new Buzz with the Utility belt; alot more different, alot more dramatic. They made him to represent the second Buzz in Toy Story 2, Lotso is amazing and his Strawberry scent is strong in a good way. Also Walmart has an exclusive Buzz to Toy Story 3 were he's not a collectable but he has two modes, ones english and the other Spanish, LOL. Also TRU has a regular Buzz with the belt
Awesome review! I just went out and bought this guy. I opted for the one with the utility belt. Your review helped me decide to go ahead and spend the $50.00 on it. Deffinitley the best Buzz that's been released thus far :)
they acually have a buzz with karate chop action but you cant control his arm after a certain point the arm flies up and then you can use the karate chop action
Nice review optibotimus. I have the figure myself and it is very great figure and that is not just because he is was my most favorite character in the movie. The new buzz does come with many new sayings although it does have less sayings overall. Also a lot of the original sayings are not in the new buzz although it does have "there is a secret mission in uncharted space" which was a disappointment that it wasn't in the original figure as well.

I have him on top of my dresser with his certificate in a matching lime green frame :) One question though: When you got yours out of the box, did yours have bad scuffs and scratches on his helmet, and did yours have a horrible crack going down the upper part of his communicator arm? If so, do you know of any ways to fix these problems?

Buzz Lightyear and Jessie fell in love with each other at the end of the Toy Story 2 Movie and it continued on in the Toy Story 3 Movie so i think they are a good couple

This version had Tim Allen's voice. The original 1995 version did as well. But all of the newer versions have an actor who sounds like him.
I think the Disney store version has his voice too, but the Disney store one I have is from when toy story 3 came out, so I’m not sure

I have the Buzz Lightyear Utility Belt version. It's awesome! I'm a BIG collector. I'm definitely getting the Buzz without the belt also.
