the new album is a massive transition, i wrote most of why i think in the comments for the music video for "of jams smokes and promises" one with highest views. if they are to keep Wes, they will really have to change their sound to mesh with him. the song "Utopia" to me seems like a logical progression for the band.
but i feel you about this sound.

Signed 100%. Wes was good in Climates, but didn't feel NPLN with him as a vocalist. Saw them 4 times including their last run of shows and gotta say baker boi was the most fitting.
Music wise, this sounds more technical than most bands that try to pull this off with two guitar players, but don't come even close to this, and just throw in breakdown after breakdown for lack of inspiration. This sounds amazing.
