I bought the 16" the other day on Amazon for $176.40. It sat in my cart for the longest time at $296.01 (tool only (I have tons of batteries and chargers)). Looked at it the other night and was notified of the price change. Immediately ordered it. Price was back up to $296.01 a few hours later.
I can see it now. "Hmmm...I could use a nice electric chainsaw. And with a free grinder? Why not? Now that I have these batteries, maybe I should pick up a string trimmer...I could use a new hedge trimmer, too...now that I'm committed to this ecosystem, maybe I should pick up a drill/impact combo...how 'bout that circular saw, too...I need to refinish some furniture, maybe I should pick up an orbital sander...everyone should have a multitool..." It's a disease.
Jonathan Mosley not a big fan of makitas other outdoor power equipment..the blower is ok ...the trimmer and hedge trimmer not in same class as Milwaukee and dewalt 👍
Got one on clearance for $230 at Family Farm and Home. Basically paid for the charger and four batteries that I was planning on getting anyways and got a free saw.
@@corneliuolar7663 Itll go about a steady 10 to 15 minutes cutting up limbs and 5 inch diameter logs going full tilt. For a battery system, its pretty reasonable. Makita also recharges faster that most of its peers. If you want to run longer than that Id steer you towards a gas saw.
So 4 seconds to cut a 6"-7" diameter tree trunk with no knots in it and about 25 seconds to cut one WITH knots. I think this would be a good choice for a person like me. A first time chainsaw owner.
@@toolboss8410 Thanks I appreciate the reply and yea I was going new age with all my tools so I thought this would be a good choice. Definitely gonna purchase it.

Please tell me, many people in comments across internet told me one thing that is annoying with makita xcu03. When you press power and u cut something, when you put it aside, after 5 seconds saw turns itself off, and you have to start it again constantly, if you are cutting something and moving cutted logs in same time. Can you start your chainsaw and put it aside to see, will it really turn itself off after 5 seconds. Why is this important for me ? - i am buying thiy chainsaw for my father. He is old and very very short tempered. If chainsaw will keep turning off after 5 seconds he will probably break it. I am very afraid he will break it cuz he has PTSD, he is war veteran. Thats why it matters to me so much
Nice as hell boss . I bought the oregon a couple yrs ago . Not impressed at all for a few diff reasons . One , the battery dont last for shit an ive honestly hardly used it . Wish this makita was around before i sunk money in the oregon .
ron cash yea that oregon line aint cheap ...when it comes to outdoor power stuff ...i dont mess around with the smaller players ...always go with a company with a good reputation or go by alot of customer reviews ...that earthwise pole trimmer had like 20 reviews 4.5 ..and it was cheap ...so no big fail ...but when ur spending alit of green ...go with a refetable company
No fluff, no bs. Just good demonstration letting the product show itself. I like it.

About how long do you think it last with batteries

does anyone know roughly how long the batteries last off a full charge?
Depends on what ur cutting ..not a set time with chainsaw .. should have 4 batteries minimum if cutting more than 10 mins

I heard they updated that for new saws to 30 or 60 seconds. I got their 18v 10” saw a couple months ago and thats how long the timeout is for it.
@@DVeck89 thnx a lot

The question is how does this go with jarrah wood. Very hard wood
It's not that hard. About in the middle of aussie hardwood
There are zero makita vs Milwaukee comparisons! What say you, who comes out on top??
I will do one soon
@@toolboss8410 really really looking forward to it!!
So what to I get?? The 12 or the 14?
Plate on saw clearly says 16" but still good saw
This is a 14 in saw ..tho last year they came out with same saw with 16" bar ..
