Question: I learnt in class that whenever disciples of Buddha asked him a question about God he always remained silent? Why is it so?
Sadhguru: Once a great devotee of Lord Ram who always chanted Ram so that the mind doesn't wander had a small concern. He had spent his lifetime believing in god. After he became old he had small doubt - does god really exist? because he saw that even the non-believers were doing good without belief in God. He then decided to ask the Buddha before sunrise, Buddha replied God is not there. This was the first time Budhha clearly told God is not there (even though he never replied to his devotees). This news then spread fast that an elightened one has declared there is no God. After sunset a strong atheist came - even though he strongly believed there is no God he had a small doubt and decided to ask Buddha after sunset if God is there. Budhha replied there is God. The disciples got confused as he had replied in the opposite manner before sunrise.
Essentially belief in existence or non-existence is the same as it is just the opposite sides of the same coin. When someone knows he doesn't know there is an eagerness to search and seek. That is a true spiritual seeker and that is the reason he remained quite when his followers asked him. However when strong believers asked him he gave a reply which contradicts their belief because his aim is to jolt their beliefs and make them seekers rather than just believers. There is no right or wrong answer. There is just an appropriate answer which helps her/him grow as a seeker

Sadguruji beautifully explains the concept of God. It is up to you to believe it or not. But one is truthful in approach there is a possibility to experience the presence of divine. And one time Sadguriji told "The grace of divine is the highest victory"'. We at times experience the grace of divine. I am sure Sadguruji would be experiencing the divine every moment. These students are blessed to have the presence of Sadguruji.
