What a great game. I love the idea of a group of "Chosen Ones" trying and failing to fulfill the prophecy, then spiritually inhabiting a cavern to provide guidance to the true Nerevar. Also, "Nerevar Moon-and-Star" has such a nice ring to it.
The great thing is that you don't even need to use glitches to become a demigod within the first 20 minutes of this game. Just brew potions that make you better at brewing potions until the potions you make cause your stats to integer overflow.
well if you do the potions correctly you shouldn't overflow as that breaks the game i think but what you do is you stack fortify intelligence which affects your alchemy skill which makes you make better potions so if you continually make them you end up with a ludicrous intelligence stat thats lasts 1000 years which then allows you to set your skills to a few thousand each at which point you have a similar situation to the speed run
Reading all the comments about there being faster ways to beat the game, I'm slowly losing faith in humanity. This is the "all major quests" route, you buffoons!
Loved the dialog in Morrowind. Makes you have to read to actually progress. Loved also that you can't fast travel. Not just cutted out, but the travel system is different. Boat, mage guild, giant horsebugs etc is ment instead. It ironically gives you more freedom. Makes the map bigger.
Its called the soul trap glitch because at one point in the unpatched version, you had to use soultrap on target as a part of the spell or at least everyone used it as a part of the spell.
Only just starting to get into watching these speedruns but DrTChops is my favorite speedrunner/commentator. Also his Dishonored speedrun is pretty great ^^.
Imagine being in the audience waiting for that arena fight and then seeing the kajit fly in, stab him once, that fly back out in an instant. Now I'm imagining what Gladiator would have been like if Maximus could do that.
A TES speedrun category should include start the clock after you first try running the game after install/DL on a blind computer, so that the time modding it to not BSOD on load gets factored in.
I LOVE this run, it's one of the speedruns, along with smoothoperator's tomb raider 2 run and ANYTHING that HeyzeusHeresToast does that I come back frequently to just have fun watching. What a delight!
@@user-783hhss7w2oifhe It usually only plays a very small part in a lot of the dice rolls in this game, which would normally be much more reliant on another stat. Because of this though, if luck is ridiculously high it will make a big difference in your chances, even if the "more important" stat is too low
A Khajiit with that much luck wouldn't save the world in half an hour. Instead he would immediately set about acquiring as much moon sugar, cat toys and smoked fish as possible.
No, he was attempting to bind the Quick Item to numpad 7, accidentally clicked it twice and when he did he mistakenly bound Mouse 0 to it instead, then correctly bound numpad 7 immediately afterwards. Unfortunately, morrowind isn't smart enough to rebind Mouse 0 at that point, and just left it not bound to anything
_"and the sun's golden honey gilds the land"_ Gild - to cover thinly with gold leaf or paint. Azura is basically just saying "the golden gold covers the land in gold" yeah okay thanks mom.
I'm pretty sure my grandpa could run this game in 1999. His PC was back then what most modern 4k quad processor pcs are today, just super good. Too bad it can't even run most flash games.
I know I'm late to the party, but I thought it was common knowledge in the start that just moving diagonally forward and left is the best way to get around the guard at the start? I do it every time I start a new game.
I spent literally tons of hours with this game and I always thought a lower stamina affects only chance to hit/cast spell... not the actual movement speed.
Have you seen the normal walking and running in Morrowind? It already looks wrong and don't get me started on jumping. (Please reply to this in 3 years.)
Well yeah, it's a marathon run and not a PB so mistakes are going to happen. Are you saying that since they didn't play perfectly they shouldn't have even bothered using minor time saves that are probably second nature by now?
Mr. Chops telling him "Good job" with a pat on the back kind of tells you how nervous that guy must have been, but pulled it off great even with a ctd.
It's nice that he actually did the main quest instead of just flying to Dagoth Ur and killing him straight away. There's nothing wrong with that when you're going for a world record but this is certainly more entertaining.
MrTacco I think it's so they could quickly get the glove thing you need to wield Sunder and Keening, the other tools used to break the Heart of Lorkahn, or in other words, beat the game. I might have the names wrong, it's been a small while since I've beaten it
I know this video is sorta old but is this game good? I played oblivion as my first elder scrolls game and it's actually one of my all time favorite RPGs, and I played Skyrim. Tempted to start playing some of the older games. Is it worth it or is it just meh?
I loved Morrowind more than Skyrim and Oblivion. But... I played it first, back when it was new. I'd be genuinely interested to know what someone who played Skyrim before Morrowind makes of the older game. There's no denying that Morrowind is really dated now. I guess it depends what you want to get out of the game.
I had a lot of fun when I played it back when it came out, if you want to play it I recommend getting the addons as well though, they're pretty damn good. The balancing is "meh" from what I remember, even when cheating your magicka to a bazillion points it still feels weak compared to just hitting/shooting stuff. There's probably a ton of mods out to address such issues though, just like the newer TES games Morrowind had a nice user-friendly editor after all. While I played it without mods it was still an amazing experience, the atmosphere in that game is incredible so even with Oblivion (which I loved) and Skyrim out it should still be a great experience.
In this game you can't be too overpowered either because the games gets confused, everytime i'll try to break someone's face i break my weapon as well and can't use spells because my chance to cast overflows and gives me negative 10,000
I love the game but man it's sooooooo broken. If I can get 15 minutes of play without crashing I can be happy. And the Goddamn movement speed is so slow without glitches or the boots of blinding speed
I'm just saying, if I were looking for some divine being to prove themselves, flying through walls would be a pretty good indicator.
"I think" and "don't worry about it" 2 phrases you will hear many times in this run and from ANYONE else who tries to explain morrowind
great commentary. Would've been utterly lost without it thank you.
which is uhhh, pretty useful

If you're coming down here looking for when the run starts, it's probably already started by the time you read this comment.

At the time they finished the game, I'm done with choosing my race
at the same time i choosen my name
At the time they finished the game, I'm done with choosing my race oh wait somebody already copy & pasted it under this video
Dude, that's like, world record fast
DrTChops just too awesome... I love his commentary.
These negotiations are superb. Excellent verbal
prowess!
The great thing is that you don't even need to use glitches to become a demigod within the first 20 minutes of this game. Just brew potions that make you better at brewing potions until the potions you make cause your stats to integer overflow.
How is an integer overflow not a glitch?
(or just 0 if it's an unsigned integer)
Error 418: I'm a teapot because it was intended
well if you do the potions correctly you shouldn't overflow as that breaks the game i think but what you do is you stack fortify intelligence which affects your alchemy skill which makes you make better potions so if you continually make them you end up with a ludicrous intelligence stat thats lasts 1000 years which then allows you to set your skills to a few thousand each at which point you have a similar situation to the speed run
@@stevenvroom1041 You can do the same in Skyrim with the enchanting/alchemy loop. It's a feature.
This IS bethesda, after all.
These guys are great at politics.

or skill
"I need to save the world? Just give me about a half an hour."
I love the glowy disco cat that waddles through walls at light speed to stab you with his pointy stick. XD
I remember playing the main quest line for like 70+ hours aaages ago, and this guy completes it in half an hour. Respect!
Mad props to you and Company. Classic game Morrowind and is a pleasure to watch this. Amazing game.
Reading all the comments about there being faster ways to beat the game, I'm slowly losing faith in humanity. This is the "all major quests" route, you buffoons!
It's all main quests plus he is using a community voted race which is not the optimal choice

coc for the win
👍
I've played hundreds of hours of Morrowind, I absolutely f@$king love this game!!!
Makes me want Skywind out really soon.
Makes me want OpenMW out really soon.
No second grade content please.
Morrowind is still my favorite elderscrolls game its also the only one I still play :P
its the best of their bug infested games Esteban ;)
Esteban Aguayo That's it's beauty.
Its called the soul trap glitch because at one point in the unpatched version, you had to use soultrap on target as a part of the spell or at least everyone used it as a part of the spell.
it was thought that the soultrap was what broke and caused the spell effect to become permanent, but apparently it works with any targeted spell.
Only just starting to get into watching these speedruns but DrTChops is my favorite speedrunner/commentator. Also his Dishonored speedrun is pretty great ^^.
Great run, great commentary (love the dry humour). One of my favourite runs of this year.
Remember kids, don't play with lockpicks.
This run was great loved the runner and friend beside him. Good job guys cant wait to see more.
In my opinion, this was the best TES in the series that I’ve ever played. I want a remastered version of this
Hopefully... !
Imagine being in the audience waiting for that arena fight and then seeing the kajit fly in, stab him once, that fly back out in an instant. Now I'm imagining what Gladiator would have been like if Maximus could do that.
don't worry about it
Imho the most impressive part of this run is that they got a bethesda game to work.
It crashed only once lol
The estimate clearly expected a few more crashes.
A TES speedrun category should include start the clock after you first try running the game after install/DL on a blind computer, so that the time modding it to not BSOD on load gets factored in.
justin... come back to us...
So true. Feels like Bethesda games are held together with twigs and bubblegum.
I'm so glad that he did the commentary

lol luck is normally a dump stat but in Morrowind luck is the GOD stat!
How does luck help? I have no clue
@@user-783hhss7w2oifhe It usually only plays a very small part in a lot of the dice rolls in this game, which would normally be much more reliant on another stat. I think it's funny how they stick around to watch the ending... all that unhonest playing and Azura is congratulating them.
Man I really want a remastered Morrowind with Skyrim level graphics
Skywind
14:55 that is actually terrifying, holy shit
14:37 A Khajiit trying to put a stop to bullying... Cool Cat, what are you doing in Morrowind?

Just beat Morrowind, this speedrun makes a lot more sense now. Great job as always
Man, I wish my character was that good at convincing people.
I spend the first few hrs picking which mods I wanna install. This dude beat the game lol
A Khajiit with that much luck wouldn't save the world in half an hour. Instead he would immediately set about acquiring as much moon sugar, cat toys and smoked fish as possible.
i love the commentary
The crash is part of the route, right?
haha :) I don't think so...
Crashes are half of the morrowind experience.
Detective「Jorge Joestar ||」 the other half are cliff racers
No, he was attempting to bind the Quick Item to numpad 7, accidentally clicked it twice and when he did he mistakenly bound Mouse 0 to it instead, then correctly bound numpad 7 immediately afterwards. revisiting this video again, a great run. this game is legendary
lol when the game was crashing I had Adobe Illustrator open in the background and I switched to adobe to get some work done, and it had crashed to
Only a morrowind speed run would include task manager

is the grey shirt guy on the couch Caveman? (the tomba 2 runner/chibi slayer)
Yes, I believe so!
oh man I love him! such a real guy
It's not him. Different voice, although he looks alike from distance yeah.
dang
What makes you think its not him? He was at SGDQ and it sounds just like him..
Guys guys I’ve figured out the fate of the dwemer - they fell out of bounds and floated away from the map
"Help Microsoft solve this problem" is way funnier now
that speed is glitchier than sonic '06
I spent literally tons of hours with this game and I always thought a lower stamina affects only chance to hit/cast spell... not the actual movement speed.
i didnt know that also.
i guess its just so small penalty to your movement speed that you dont notice it
but you notice missing much more
