    Setting all settings with the crown leaves the case clean of pushers, that is super cool, that is how all watches should be, I dislike those watches with pushers all over the case.

      It is indeed ingenious! It's something that's truly efficient design engineering.

    I have always wanted one of these. I sold all my other pieces and bought one for my birthday after beating prostrate cancer. Seems quite an excessive purchase for me but I got the perpetual calendar in stainless steel. Thanks for the video. I watch a lot of your great content ❤

    I know the curved lugs help. But I would feel like an idiot wearing it over my jacket or long sleeve shirt. That being said I love the look of it and the movement is a work of art. It's Beautiful.

      Well, not everyone wears a bomber jacket all the time. Haha. I agree that you shouldn't wear it over your sleeve on most occasions if any. But yes it's still a more wearable watch on many wrists. Mine is just tiny.

    It is a beautiful watch, no denying that. I understand the premise regarding sizing, however there are not many WWII pilots flying around in unpressurized, unheated cabins anymore. A more contemporary approach to sizing would have been more appealing to me.

    • @DesignAtelier
      @DesignAtelier  3 роки тому +2

      That is very true. I think they've considered that with this being a 46mm case. However I do feel its still too big for many wrists. Hopefully that changes in the future.

      46mm is a lot smaller than the pilot watches actually were.

    The problem with the movement I believe is that you cannot go backwards on the calendar if you overshoot. If you overshoot the date/day/month/year, you have to send it back to IWC in Switzerland to reset the watch which can take months. One of the disadvantages of having a movement where all the functions can be set by the crown.

    • @Deusmecumest
      @Deusmecumest 3 роки тому +2

      All you need to do if you overshoot the date is let it unwind, next day try again.

      @@Deusmecumest Unless there is 7 days left on the power reserve. I'm just saying it's the plus and minus of havng the crown work all the adjustments.

    • @Deusmecumest
      @Deusmecumest 3 роки тому +2

      @@jameskwon7617 not a problem. Wear one of your other pieces for 7 days. Even though do you wind before adjusting? Usuall6 winding is with the crown on position A. When you already adjusted and are almost ready to strap it on.

    • @DesignAtelier
      @DesignAtelier  3 роки тому +1

      Exactly! To send this for service to adjust the timing will take weeks. Best to just have that power reserve run out.

    • @jameskwon7617
      @jameskwon7617 3 роки тому

      @@DesignAtelier Again, that works if it's been set a day or two ahead. There have been cases where the owner keeps winding the crown thinking that the day, date and month will come around. I don't know if you want to have a watch a month or two or three. Sometimes, people get over zealous and go ahead a year (Klaus' perpetual calendars also show the year). Then you have problems. There are also the oppossite issues, where a watch may have been a safe queen for a few years. Then the watch is a few years behind. Because there is no independent adjustments for day, date, month and year, you have to use the crown to advance each day until you reach the right day, date and year. Klaus' design is used in some JLC perpetual calendars and that is even a worse problem in that the calender is not set by the crown, but by a pusher. So you are going to need to push with a stylus potentially 365 times to advance to the every year. Anyway, yes, these are first world problems. I doubt those with the money who can afford this kind of watch will either care about the cost of resetting or waiting, whatever way they choose to solve the problem.

    Sorry I stopped watching at 2:34, when said 46mm. That is not a watch for everyone. It's for wrists over 7.5;inches minimum. It's a clock on anyone's bthst that is smaller. Don't get me wrong I love the IWC perpetual calendar watches planning on pulling the trigger on their 42 mm Perpetual calendar.

    the 46mm is too small for me- I wish luxury watch makers would make watches for men. We are getting bigger and 46mm looks like a woman's sport watch on me. I ended up with the Top Gun perpetual but the big Top gun movie poster (non oficial) stuff ont he back detracts from it and I wear it daily so the emblem or whatever in the back is wearing out. I love the complication of this watch I just wish they'd knock off the movie relationship

    I bought this watch three days ago, and it's a complete piece of garbage. $36'000 down the drain. All you guys that think, oh, one crown, how cool. Not so. One small mistake and you turn the crown in the wrong direction or at the wrong time, and you'll have to take the watch back to a dealer, and if you're lucky, they have someone that can adjust it. I bought it in Joburg, and now I'm on the way to Cape Town; of course, they can't fix it and have to send it back to Joburg and back to Cape Town. Any little mistake and you have to bring the watch to one person in the country that can adjust it. What a Scam. I also called Switzerland (I'm Swiss), was on hold for an hour, and then the voice mail just told me nobody was available and to call back another time. Customer service ZERO. Yes, the watch looks super cool, but at what price. I'm embarrassed to be Swiss and for a Swiss company to have such poor service.

      @@DesignAtelier The watch was set wrong to the northern hemisphere and being in SA it looked all wrong. So, er tried to adjust it. It would have been helpful if the dealer in Joburg took a bit more time to explain what you can and cannot do. Is this what the world had come to? Same happened when I bought my BMW, they assigned me some newby because I didn't dress up enough and spent 7 hrs watching UA-cam videos in the car with the sales person only to find out how the damn car worked. This is the service these days for a 100K car.
