This historic film documents the salvage of the Civil War Gunboat Cairo, the first warship ever sunk by an electrically detonated torpedo. The Union gunboat was raised 100 years after it was sunk from the Mississippi River in 1963. The full-featured Struggle for Vicksburg DVD tours Vicksburg National Military Park today and recounts the dramatic siege for Vicksburg during the Civil War in 1863.

Glad you liked the video. A film we put on VHS for the park back in the 80’s. It was a film shown at the Vicksburg visitor center.
