I'm loving how you guys are using the channel not only for clips and opeinngs, but as a plataform for your hosts to publish their own takes on the matter, such as kanji in anime or a more technical approach, keep doing this kinda of videos ^^
Ahh this makes me sooo happy. I love Studio Ghibili movies, I watched the movies before I watched Disney. When I was little I used to tell people my name was Nausicca.
Same here but I think nausicaa has the best track of film history with legend of the wind. But it is true that castle in the sky is miyazakis greatest work and I also think alot of love from nausicaa is in there as well.
Joe Hisaishi also composed for the animated film Robot Carnival, which one of the shorts titled Star Light Angel was directed by Hiroyuki Kitazume. Some of his more recognizable work happened to be for the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, from Zeta Gundam to Char's Counter Attack. Speaking of Gundam, Joe Hisaishi actually composed music for the Gundam franchise as well, and worked on one of the most iconic song from the Mobile Suit Gundam trilogy, the song Soldiers of Sorrow. Though if we tie it back to Miyazaki, his first directorial debut with Lupin III featured music by Yuji Ohno, and brought an amazing score that would serve to ultimately help evolve the sound of Lupin III over the coming years. Last but not least, Yuji Ohno composed the opening theme to the series Space Cobra, which the main music was composed by Kentaro Haneda who also composed the music for Robotech aka Macross. ALL OF THIS HAPPENING BEFORE Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind in 1985. The 70s and 80s were a FANTASTIC time for anime, but too bad CrunchyRoll doesn't value that on it's platform since you can't even search for anime by the decade. Kind of a shame when people may be missing out on what each decade of animation from Japan has offered the world. But who am I to point that out? I'm just a paying customer since 2014.
I was rocking out to Deprive from Robot Carnival and then I found out it was Hisaishi, ha, that's the best kind of surprise. If you live in the US or Canada, there's been a recent influx of classics to CR via Discotek; most notably Kimagure Orange Road was added two days ago. www.crunchyroll.com/publisher/discotek I hope to see City Hunter added eventually, since Discotek announced a license-rescue of that entire franchise last month. I just quoted your comment (with a link to your channel) here: myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1742460&show=0#post4
I think the original soundtrack is better than the orchestrated sound track that was later created for the film once Disney distributed it. Out of all the Ghibli soundtracks, Nausicaa is probably my favorite. The opening theme song, and The Requiem song (the la, la, la, la, la, la, la song). Are such goo tracks. Laputa is another great soundtrack. Idk, I'm much more drawn to the soundtracks of the earlier Ghibli films compared to some of the newer films like Spirited Away, Howl's moving Castle and the movies past that
Can't pick my fav.... that's illegal🤣 Also this content is exactly what i crave. Informative and exploring older projects, instead of new stuff. Well done Crunchy-staff. Se han lucido con esta👌🏽
It makes so much sense! I just recently learned that there's a scientific article that states that the earth's atmosphere produces it's own sound frequency. Sound is truly everywhere!
Your analysis is impressive. You describe in a non-linguistic signs a world of sounds that make Nausicca a masterpiece. You don't need to mention categories of semiotics because you integrate it perfectly into a friendly talk. Congratulations!!!
Who remembers Toonami's month of Miyazaki? Thats what introduced me to Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki films. I played soccer at the time and recorded Nausicaa(on VHS) because I wasnt able to watch it live(I had no internet access so tv was my only source of anime), and when I went to watch it the VHS got stuck in my tv so I have watched this movie more times than I can count. NONE HAVE BEEN A WASTE!
My favourite soundtrack in anime has to be from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Origa, I love her music in general and I am happy that I actually got to meet her at Anime Revolution, a convention in Vancouver British Columbia Canada, not long before her passing
Origa "only" wrote lyrics and performed vocals, though. And Origa's contribution was brilliant, unforgettable, and irreplaceable, but isn't Yoko Kanno worth naming? ;)
I love Nausicaa. I loved it when all I could find was the butchered dub Warriors of the Wind, because I loved the music so much. I listen to Joes music almost every day when I’m studying. I’m a Masters graduate student studying ecology, and Nausicaa with her love of the toxic jungle is one of my inspirations. BTW, real fungi and mushrooms in our world can almost do what the giant fungi do in the toxic jungle, regarding decontaminating polluted soil and water.
I absolutely love this film's soundtrack (even if the film itself is not that great compared to the manga). Kaze no densetsu (the main theme) is simply iconic as is the Requiem (that creepy children choir bit), not to mention the epicness of the Bird Man (the ED) in its best moments. They're on iTunes and are really good even on their own
I love when people show love to nausicaa because it was the reason studio ghibli was created. Everything people love from the company today came from nausicaa. I see why not many people can connect with the movie and prefer others instead but fact is that nausicaa is the biggest legend of ghibli and has the most amazing soundtrack in film history. The only movie that can compare with this soundtrack is castle in the sky which came right after nausicaa. You can see and hear the connection between these two and with help from nausicaa castle in the sky became miyazakis greatest work to date. Not to speak of the other beautiful films that came after. Hayao Miyazaki and Joe Hisaishi are not born on this planet.🙏🏼 Nausicaa will be forever my favourite
Favourite soundtrack? Haibane Renmei, no doubt. Also the series, for that matter. It's hard to recommend in general, since it's so unique, but for me it's the best thing that ever happened to the moving pictures medium.
My favorite Miyazaki would have to be a tossup between Spirited Away and Princess Monanoki. My favorite Hisashi score would be Spirited Away. I had to buy the sound track right after I bought the DVD. My favorite track is the music during the train ride to Zaniba's house in the swamp.
It probably wasn't the best idea for me to watch a video on sound design while using what are basically the free headphones that came with my portable cassette player.
Late for the party but gotta say Studio Ghiblis more recent movies (I would say after Ponyo) are super mundane and not really interesting at all. The dream would be I studio Ghibli would make bunch of movies or a series based on the complete Nasicää manga. It's one of the best manga and it's just sitting in their hands and they don't do anything with it. What a waste
What's your FAVORITE Ghibli film?
Princess mononoke
Nausicaa
castle in the sky
Gotta be Laputa Castle in the Sky, closely followed by Princess Mononoke.
Nausciaa - you never forget your first Miyazaki
Shannon Strucci is a Treasure Of Internet.
Keep giving Shannon Strucci work!
Music is one of the parts that i always take special atention. Nausicaä is my favorite film & favorite sound track

Thanks!!!
this video seriously needs more views. Nausicaa is definitely in my top 4 favourite Miyazaki movies.
These vids are so insightful and educating, keep on keepin on yall
Kinda would like to hear Strucci host it as well but damn this is a very well researched video. bravo.
This is my favourite ghibli film!
This tracks.
@@CrunchyrollInsideAnime Ohmu tracks.
every crunchyroll channel needs videos with a host like tim. good guy
More Tim!! More Tim everywhere!
Nausicaa is my favorite, but the rest are all a close second. At lease all those made by miyazaki. However, when marnie was there was beautiful.
So hard to pick!
Ahh this makes me sooo happy. I love Studio Ghibili movies, I watched the movies before I watched Disney. When I was little I used to tell people my name was Nausicca.
That's so cute lol. Nausicaa was always my favorite too
MORE OF THESE VIDEOS PLEASE!
To this day Nausicaä is my second favourite movie of all time. Directly after Laputa/Castle in the Sky
Same here but I think nausicaa has the best track of film history with legend of the wind. But it is true that castle in the sky is miyazakis greatest work and I also think alot of love from nausicaa is in there as well.
Laputa is my second favorite Ghibli film, right after Nausicaä. :)
A great presentation about a great part of my favorite anime film, thank you!
Thank YOU!
This is actually a really cool idea for a video series!
thanks!

Gladly! We've been doing a bunch of deep dive video essays like this on the channel. Check em out and let me know what you think!

Always wondered about the sound origin of the insect whistle. The Bullroarer does sounds similar. Thank you for that!
Another wonderful brilliantly insightful video from you Crunchyroll. Thanks very much.

I love that soundtrack. Yoko Kanno's music is gold
Another movie to check out is the 2008 Best foreign film Oscar winner: Departures. The OST was done by Hisaishi and it is excellent.
This thing was my favorite animation when kid......SO MANY MEMORIES COMING OUT
every. memory.
This is a great video and buddy did great presenting the info 🔥

Interesting video ! Thanks Crunchyroll senpai 😊😊🧡🧡
Yup Tim u are officially my favorite.

The legend of the wind will be forever the best track I've ever heard from a movie💯💯

I know this comment is super old, but that's my favorite scene/song in the movie too. It's called Sixth Station
Thank you for your Otaku sacrifice! 😁👍
We do it for you
I feel the same way about video game music, which is probably why most of the music I listen to is from games.
My most favorite Ghibi film is Lupin the Third: The Castle of Count Cagolistro.
Read my comment on how that music by Yuji Ohno ties into a much deeper rabbit hole of musical wonder in anime's history.
I’ll have to watch it again.
That was not Ghibli. It was directed by Miyazaki but before he cofounded Ghibli with Takahata.
Really fascinating. More videos like this please!!
5:12 I really like that weird roar
Strucci wrote this!
This is quality 'tent.
Thanks!
I remember hearing nausicaa's requiem in another movie, I think it was a king Fu movie, I don't remember the name. Does someone know by any chance?
Future video idea: real life places in Japan that were used as "filming" locations, such as Tama New Town, Tokyo for Ghibli's Whisper of the Heart.
I’d die and go to heaven in Miyazaki and Spielberg collaborated
Favourite Anime Soundtrack Sailor Moon (Both Versions) (Dic and Viz)
Vary well done!
It probably wasn't the best idea for me to watch a video on sound design while using what are basically the free headphones that came with my portable cassette player.
the power of sound , tim wears a dmc shirt
I NEED your DMC shirt!!!
Good ojob STrucci
This vídeo is underrated...
Simply amazing!!!
Hayao known as the 🐐
How ya gonna go on and not even mention my man Haruomi Hosono like that. . .
He worked on the single with vocals? It wasn't in the film at all, so it doesn't have any impact on it.
@@AndromedaRoach Yes, but you seem to have neglected the fact that that song fucking slaps.
12:29 Remenents
Hey I know this is extremely off topic but I have a recommendation for your website/app add a category for anime that have a yandere in it
Nice DMC shirt!
Favourite anime soundtracks are Space Battleship Yamato, Gatchaman and Mobile Suit Gundam.
Hard to choose but I think mine would be Castle in the Sky
I like how drastically (relatively) low the view count on this video is.
I think there's no Ghibli movie that I don't have the score saved
why are you using mass effect music for this video lol
Where's Strucci???
SHADOW CLONE JUTSU
But my favorite soundtrack is Space Dandy
👍
Miyazaki might have not said Anime was a mistake but he hates Anime of today (well most of it) and that is fact! Like the school girl and harem Anime!
So... I'm guessing this guy is owner of this channel
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
It would have been useful if the presenter had allowed the audience to listen to some of the six in the clips rather than the interminable narration
