Hey! Operator dev here, I appreciate the honest feedback as its what I strive for to improve the game. This was the purpose of releasing on early access and so far it has been a success with the game being improved drastically since release due to community feedback and suggestions. I haven't pushed or paid any content creators yet as I want an organic audience before I'm ready to promote it since they would be the most honest imo. Anyway here are some bullet points.. - The current state of the game is sort of a sandbox mode while I improve the core of the game, polish and bug fix until I add the main game loop and tutorials. - Audio is a thing thats always being improved as well, with most of the missing sfx for weapons just being the lack of quality recording for it (of which i'm waiting for) - Graphically, most of the lack of fidelity is from the usage of realtime effects, realtime time of day system and just unity engine. Although there is good news with the new Unity 6 engine coming out later this year having major graphical and optimisation advancements so I can't wait for that to drop. - Optimisation has been tough to do, but has been steadly increasing and getting better over the updates. For instance, running 60 AI at release was impossible but now I can run 60 AI at 100 fps. The poor optimisation mostly comes from the AI so the less you run the better the frames. - In regards to the helmet camera it's meant to be a spectating camera for dead players rather than something to play with. Anyway thanks for playing and for the feedback. Come back next year for a totally different experience!
Wow I'm extremely impressed you took your time to 1. Watch my video and 2. Comment and elaborate on stuff. I won't regurgitate what I've already said but basically this wasn't a shot at your game but more a shot at how other content creators have promoted it like a finished product and the steam price just simply isn't worth it I'm it's current state. That being said I commend you on your efforts and your obviously a good person too (and a fellow Aussie extra points lol) I wish you nothing but success in the game and I definitely look forward to playing it with some updates. Thanks VectorAU!

keep going man , the game has tremendous potential , I hope you get more funding and stay truthful to the purpose. I understand the game is on early stages of development and you can feel that you have put a lot of attention to the community side of things and unlocking features that AAA studios don't have. Only to show that if you want you can build a game from the ground up with what the audience is looking for. I really can't wait to see the finished product. Supporter here !!!!!
Bit of a controversial opinion. But I can’t find a single fault in your argument. Content creators only care about promoting the game whether or not it’s any good
@@TimmyTacticalAs part of an indie team of two developers working on our own niche tactical shooter, we understand the struggle you're talking about. Hyped games that breach gamer-developer trust have a significant impact on the gaming industry, as they create a sense of distrust that benefits no one. @MisultinStudios thanks for your input. Your studio is the prime example of how to run an indie team. A good game that every other dev would've sold off for 50 bucks on steam by now but your giving free playtests to make a better game. Kudos to you and your team. Especially irontaxi dudes a legend
I decided to pickup Operator during the fps sale this week. Wow it’s disappointing! I’ve got a 4080 and an i9 13900k and I was getting 30 - 40 fps on the ship and the ship is literally empty. The game is so janky and looks so bad with such bad optimization, I can’t believe the positive reviews. Refund requested.
Yesterday I saw it on Steam, I like tactical shooters so I bought it today without any research, and I can say I had fun it could have more maps but it's EA so I hope there will be more in the future.
Yes same situations happened with Direct Contact game as well..pre alpha stages / early access things shouldn't released on steam until it's fully developed & optimized..In today's time Ground Branch is still doing their best also Ready or Not although Ready or Not is mostly focused into CQB SWAT Simulation blended with Tactical elements but Ground Branch is focused into authentic Tactical Milsim elements like ARMA 👍
I still didn't think ground branch was ready I did a revjew on that and although it's one of the better ones I've played lately I think it still had a lot of work to do
To be fair this is a game made by 1 guy and has a lot more features and he likely would’ve had to release it early at some point to help fund the development of it. It’s not bad for what it is right now it’s just really early on, it is NOTHING like Direct Contact and their bs of a game
Just bought the game on sale for 12 ish dollars, I honestly love it, the gun customization is unmatched for the price imo, I never had a problem with low quality graphic games as long as the gun play is fun and it is, only box they don’t tick off for me is not enough maps and scenarios, gets old quick kicking in the same doors, ready or not is definitely better in many ways (except gun customization, it’s very barebones) but operator is way more casual and way less task oriented than ready or not, also the game was made by one dude 🤷🏽♂️ so I expect error
I’ve played the game since last year sometime, I have a RTX 3060 and 16 gigs of ram and it was a bit buggy but not as bad as you said, but in that time the game got so much better, and I think now it’s worth 20€
I know as a content creator and probably played my share of the lesser-known games, even with indie games. I admit I love when there's a game that's by a smaller team that turns out well, and it sucks if the game doesn't get another game to try to improve on what they did with the said game. And then there's the small, lesser-known game that I played where I felt that it could've been done way better.
I know that even with the lesser-known games as there's been some I didn't mind making content for whether if it was either in written or video form, sometimes even doing both for a particular game. Some of them I feel is easier to do video form over written form, while I've had some I've played and wondered why I paid for a game that seemed to be cheaply made.
I was one of those gamers that saw the hyped up versions by some creators of Operator and bought it, only to find a mostly broken and unfinished game. I agree with you that the gaming community would benefit of more honest by gamers reviews. However I understood the process of early release of this game and to be fair, some of the creators I visited did mention that the game was "unfinished". So you kinda know what to expect. On the other hand , I understand that small devs have limited funds and ways to promote their content and hype it up , so using early releases , putting their content to the test with real audiences and relying on popular creators to hype up the content , is really the only way they can afford to put their content out there. Nevertheless , I agree with you, the gaming community needs more honest reviews and honesty on content before purchasing. Love your content , subbed. Small content creator here also.
I'm against small devs using steam to fund a project. I agree some devs are honest devs and trying to create something special but risk vs reward. Soon steam will be full of quarter finished games at best and they will be making money with probably no intention of finishing it just scan games. It's not supposed to be easy being a dev otherwise everyone would do it (which is what people are starting to do hence my concern) you want to create an amazing game use other funding options and reserve steam for a nearly complete game and use it to do the final touches.
@@TimmyTactical ya fair point , I guess then Steam needs to up their vetting systems and qualification process to be on there. could solve some of that. Share your concerns also mate.
What's your suggested strategy for indie game developers to fund the production of their games if they cant sell the early access. i think the idea is that games get released as paid early access -> people buy them + give feed back and that lets the dev's either hire someone or have more resources to put back into the game so by the time of official release its a polished game. other wise its impossible to compete with multi billion dollar AAA dev's that have endless money and resources. Or plan B is we just play a new COD each year and be happy with it? curious to hear your thoughts? great video though! totally agree the reviewers should be more honest when reviewing games!
I’m not Timmy but there has to be accountability. Like show your face and be willing to be interviewed as asked questions on screen so people can see what type of person you are and why we should trust you with our money..
Stay on Patreon, discord, gofundme, angel investors etc. Otherwise it's a slippery slope on steam, a games description on steam says "a tactical shooter that focuses on realism bla bla bla" then slaps a generic steam early access label on it with footage that has been reshaded and crafted to look like a complete game. I understand they need funding but if your going to create a game put a budget in for advertising and asking for investors don't just slap it on steam cause it just means anyone can half bake a game whack it on steam make money and never finish it, just opens the door for more scams if you ask me
Most honest and true review i've ever seen thanks for the video and the review keep up the good work 👌I've also played the game before its kinda like a budget ground branch.
@MrMiller_77 yea and o feel a lot of people won't agree with us but it's just my opinion that they seem so polished on steam and really don't represent the game. And all they do is label it as early access and expect people to be like "oh its OK I know it will get better eventually". When in fact most of these games never get completed
Oh boy I have a lot to say on this! I'm currently making a video on it now. I need to play a bit more to give my opinion but one thing I can say right now is the dev (who was the original lead dev of Squad) I 100% transparent and not charging for a game that's not ready yet. And that I can get behind. But I have heaps to talk about on this stay tuned for my review :)
Now see if they would just start adding in a full controller support layout so that everyone and anyone could play these tact titles etc... its not fair , not everyone are capable of using a keyboard And mouse to game even though theres a mananger but its difficult to have it working properly
I was a bit taken aback by the dev's decision to release this game on steam at such an early state. I initially got this game from the Patreon out of interest and the want to support the developer prior to the large content creators making videos on them. I feel as though this game got exposure far too early due to these videos, and the sudden demand pressured the dev to release in such an early state. I personally do not have performance issues with the game, but I can tell its very hardware dependent. While I do quite enjoy it, and will continue to play it, it is certainly nowhere near release ready. The dev seems to be quite the hard worker, so hopefully we see this game improve greatly. I have high hopes nonetheless. (edit: definitely going to sub though. Brief and to the point video, honest takes. Conveyed very well!)
And I'm all for supporting indie devs and I've bought lots of games that are not ready through patreon which is the way to do it. But once you release it to the public on steam it better be an almost playable game lol. Thanks for your input brother I appreciate it 🙏
Yes had exact thing with operator guy was promoting it got bought refunded it cause i couldt if play it got way better then recommended specs and i couldt like spawn in nothin just stuck looking down a hallway tried restarting reinstalling same shit
The new sly move ive seen. The same creator posting a video after a game launches and fails, back tracking and saying they told the developer about these issues months or years ago and they chose not to fix it.
Operator definitely does get repetitive, and most people will lose interest after an hour or two, and it really isn't the best at the moment compared to something like Ground Branch, but I still think It has great potential in the future. Right now the problem is that It's buggy, and graphics are somewhat broken, and is missing a lot of details, especially small ones, and that really ruins the immersion. But there is no doubt Vector is doing his best to try and fix those problems, and works hard on the game. But I still find the game somewhat enjoyable, and I don't believe that It's complete shit either. It's still fun to play.
I agree with you bro. My problem wasn't with a half baked game, my problem was with him releasing it on steam in this state and content creators hyping it like its ready to play now as an immersive milsim shooter. Thanks for you comment brother 🙏
Yeah that is right, these content creators totally overhype the game when looking at It's current state. But I guess It's mostly clickbait.@@TimmyTactical
Incursion Red River is such a dud of a game in it's present stage of production. Developers should never have put this up for sale $$$ and expect gamers to bite on all their hype is.
So many of these games look great until you play and the AI are totally trash and provide no challenge. Land a helicopter right next to him and he’s looking the other way for an easy kill. That’s trash.
"high end build" :P i run operator maxed out and im gettin around 110-120 on the bigger maps with like 50 npc's :P i have a intel 13900k build with a 3090 and 64gb ram, also running the game on a nvme m.2 will help alot =)
I run an i9 13900kf and a 4080 and it's running of m.2 I get 100+ frames easy but then it tanks to 30fps and I've talked to a lot of other people having the same issue it's just not optimised yet
I’d say Direct Contact was even worse. So much hype by content creators over the last couple of years and some of those guys haven’t touched it now that it’s launched. No need to ask why.
I have been eyeing some games but I still don’t know what to buy as non of my friends are tactical gamers so would you recommend ground branch or is there another game that’s better (I have ready or not)
Depends on what your looking for. if your into milsim then reforger is the go too atm but squad is decent as well. If you like the more small scale tactical shooters then ready or not is the best which you already have so ground branch is pretty good but still has a long way to go to be a great game
Actually haven't seen this one I'll have to check it out. The thing is I guess gaming really is subjective what one person interprets as awesome one might thing trash but there is definitely a lot of dishonesty just trying to ride a hype train even if they know it's bad
@@TimmyTactical I feel you but in this case there was nothing subjective. At the time the game was taking massive flak from users on steam and reddit over it's performance. The game saw a large performance hit just coming out of beta. He and the other content creators took the money and hyped it up. To be honest I've heard he did the same with payday 3.
@Kouinia when I reviewed harsh doorstop I completely agreed with that. I mention that it's free and playing it will help the dev make a better game but if your looking for a polished game then stay clear. So yes I agree of you want to support the game that's great!
totally agree then with you! It's like any new fps is gonna be the next big milsim and playable straight out the box... burning lands, direct contact, ground branch, operator, glory to the heroes, we call them Unreal Scam Engine games haha@@TimmyTactical
Yeah seen these vids, but always thought the games looked garbage, so never bought any of them. You should start watching with your eyes, not your imagination
i thought it was a vr game lol zero hour isnt awful for its price. ive had lots of fun. ive been broke but been meaning to get ready or not. great vid doode.
I haven't tried zero hour yet might have to look at that. Yea ready or not is definitely the best game out of these style games currently. ARMA 3 is my favourite milsim still
@@TimmyTactical zero hour is highly entertaining. its not as polished as ready or not but i think its a bolivian swat unit or something. solid and enjoyable gameplay imo. for a great deal too. plus you get a cop canine buddy now. and you pet em. lol. agreed. ready or not i think does this genre best. oh arm3 i find alot of enjoyment out of every so many months i revisit! same brothuh lol

i run operator maxed out and im gettin around 110-120 on the bigger maps with like 50 npc's :P
i have a intel 13900k build with a 3090 and 64gb ram, also running the game on a nvme m.2 will help alot =)
I run an i9 13900kf and a 4080 and it's running of m.2 I get 100+ frames easy but then it tanks to 30fps and I've talked to a lot of other people having the same issue it's just not optimised yet
That's saved me some money 👍💰
The whole reason I started creating content! Thanks brother
I’d say Direct Contact was even worse. So much hype by content creators over the last couple of years and some of those guys haven’t touched it now that it’s launched. No need to ask why.
Yep agree bro
I have been eyeing some games but I still don’t know what to buy as non of my friends are tactical gamers so would you recommend ground branch or is there another game that’s better (I have ready or not)
Depends on what your looking for. if your into milsim then reforger is the go too atm but squad is decent as well. If you like the more small scale tactical shooters then ready or not is the best which you already have so ground branch is pretty good but still has a long way to go to be a great game
Even bigfry is no stranger to shilling, dude hyped up darktide without speaking on the fact it runs like shit.
@Some_Quiet_Dude yea copy I'll look into it my guy thank you fir the info I appreciate it 💯
Operator, Direct Action, Harsh Doorstep. Fuck me... All the devs on those should legit see jail time
Yep and all 3 of them is what inspired me to do this video. All 3 of them I seen big content creators make a video saying how good they were
harsh doorstop is free, so no wasting money, the updates are better every time, so what's the risk lol
@Kouinia when I reviewed harsh doorstop I completely agreed with that. I mention that it's free and playing it will help the dev make a better game but if your looking for a polished game then stay clear. So yes I agree of you want to support the game that's great!
@@Kouinia my issue was more for content creators making out like it's the best milsim in existence when it's cleary only 10th of the way there
totally agree then with you! It's like any new fps is gonna be the next big milsim and playable straight out the box... burning lands, direct contact, ground branch, operator, glory to the heroes, we call them Unreal Scam Engine games haha@@TimmyTactical
I see your argument, but I think I’ll stick to certain creators. Big Fry’s attitude and energy he has isn’t really what I’m tryna watch
That's fair :)
Yeah seen these vids, but always thought the games looked garbage, so never bought any of them.
You should start watching with your eyes, not your imagination
Well said
And awesome name lol
100% agree
Cheers brother 👍
i thought it was a vr game lol zero hour isnt awful for its price. ive had lots of fun. ive been broke but been meaning to get ready or not. great vid doode.
@drunkpunk5393 ayyy that pet idea sounds amazing haha
No beating around bush, and calling it as it is. Great video i don't play tactical shooters cause im a peasant 😂 that plays on ps4.
Gotta keep it real! Too many people in it for themselves these days
Bending your back all the way to the ground 🤣🔥
Almost like me at the gallery bruh haha
@@TimmyTactical hahah yoo keen 😂
all tactical indie shooters are just shooting ai with guns now lol
Yea I feel that
Do YOU know of any tactical shooters with realistic gore, customizable gear and upgradable weapons? Oh shit. Operator looks like it fits the bill. Subscribed.
I don't get it lol
@@TimmyTactical I typed out that comment before watching the whole video. lol.
@@Cautious_Gamer hahahahaha we all been there haha
Bruh
Legit lol
Wears thin pretty quick ay
