Thank you for this, very useful! I think though the sequence would have sounded better with Cmaj7 instead of Emin7, I know they share the same notes but the order just changes the feeling of it. Good job though

Hello, would you be able to tell me how to synch my DFAM with an MPC Live 2?

Very nice mate! I am using Markt dfam mostly for percussion. Go on!

Hey Rick, thank you for the reply ;) Do you ever run your DFAM through external effects, or just record into Ableton and apply effects there?
      Cheers,
      Ttils

Sometimes i am using external fx, but mostly i am using au Plugins like Soundtoys, Waves, UAD or NI.

Good stuff. I used to love Soundtoys, but then it started acting up after the latest update (I use VST3 though) and the plugins would not load up whenver I restarted Ableton. I ended up deleting the entire suite... Hopefully they'll fix that crap soon, because they're good plugins.

Hi! Nice video and sequence - so simple yet so powerful.
Can you please check something out for me with your DFAM?
Th situation is - when SEQ PITCH MOD set to ON (doesn't matter VCO1+2, or VCO2 only), and you have some random sequence programmed on pitch knobs (doesn't matter what exactly), but only one step turned on by its velocity knob (doesn't matter which one) - you start running it with short VCA decay and hear only that one step like a single "ting".
But then if you start increasing VCA decay you start to hear other steps as well, even if their velocities are turned down to zero, more and more steps according to VCA decay, and then at max you hear the whole sequence - do you have the same thing?
I mean, it doesn't make sense, velocity knobs are in fact becoming useless with long VCA decay - if I want to hear for example step 1 and 5 on different, then longer their decay without introducing other steps - I can't hear only 1 and 5 (only with short decay) because all other steps are becoming audible too while I'm increasing decay
Just want to know if something's wrong with my DFAM or it's "okay", thank you!

Hey Aleksey, thanks for your note, give me a bit of time and I’ll look into it closer. It sounds weird, but I’m sure there’s a reason why it’s happening; the DFAM is weird lol and adjusting one knob can have countless different effects. I’ll get back to you shortly.

Ok, so here's what's happening: First of all this is totally normal, so don't worry, your DFAM is fine :) The 3 envelopes of the DFAM are affected by a few different sources, and not just the velocity knobs; it's a combination of the velocity knobs, the VCA EG amount, the VCA Decay amount, even the note sequence knobs have some effect. SO when your VCA Decay knob is all the way up, and you play the sequence, basically what's happening is that when the step with the velocity knob all the way turned up gets triggered, it will have a vero long decay tail, and that step's decay tail will keep playing through the rest of the sequence. Now that decaying tail as it passes the other steps in the sequence will get affected by the rest of the knobs positions every time it passes one. So it will pick up the different steps of the pitch knobs as well. This is why the DFAM is crazy and sometimes unpredictable. I hope this helps.

Great patch! Could you tune the DFAM with an incoming CV from a sequencer or quantizer?

    • @AttilaHanak
      @AttilaHanak  4 роки тому +2

Hey thanks for the comment and the question!
Yes of course you can. It's actually a lot easier that way, because then you can just set a "key" with the oscillator's frequency control and send the note information via a MIDI to CV setup or straight from a sequencer that has CV outs like a BeatStep Pro, or Makenoise Rene. Then even use the DFAM's frequency control for transposing, and since you'll have to disable SEQ PITCH MOD so that the internal sequencers of the DFAM don't interfere with the now externally fed note information, you can use those sequencers to modulate other parameters. I just wanted to do the patch with the DFAM only, without an external sequencer, so I went the hard way ;) This is more of a "can I do it this way?" vs. an "I have to do it this way" scenario.
      Cheers,
      Attila

I can’t you just use the metronome as your Pulse
