So when the car becomes detached from the Motorhome, the breakaway cable activates the braking system... my question is how long will the system stay activated before it’s necessary to apply the parking brake?
Am I correct in thinking that the brakes on the towed car are either fully on or fully off? That's the way it seems and is why I've never built anything along those lines.
+SirHenryofRR Most towcar braking systems on the market are an on or off system. However the invisibrake is progressive. so the longer and harder the towing vehicles brake is pressed, the longer and harder the towbars brake is pressed. The pressure steadily builds until it reaches its maximum. This stops the towcar skidding and means that if only braking lightly and briefly then the towbars pedal force is only light and brief. and provides for balanced braking behind the towing vehicle.

Please note that I have no intention of infringing on any patents or copyrights and I will not be making them to sell. It's just that it makes it cheaper to add braking to my (1 tonne) convertible 2-seater when/if towing it behind my (2.5 tonne) camper van. I've had most of the parts for a couple of years, so It's just a matter of getting a round tuit and it's *Thunderbirds are go!*.
Have you had any issue with Police in UK or abroad? An frames/Dolly is meant only for use towing brokendown vehicle/Emergency/Recovery? If used as a "trailer", as I guess your using it, it should have a full set of lights, lightboard or vehicle lights synchronised with motorhome. It is illegal to tow a vehicle in France and a number of other EU countries.
Hi Jeremy, The Towmaster system is part of a full conversion of the car into a category O2 trailer as recognised by the UK Department for transport. Not a recovery device system.
