Slim Jxmmi from Rae Sremmurd shared the journey that led the duo to sign with Mike Will Made It and eventually Interscope Records. The key moment came one night when Slim Jxmmi and his brother Swae Lee waited outside a club to meet Mike Will on his birthday. After a brief, inebriated conversation, Mike gave them his email, igniting their professional relationship. Initially, the brothers recorded tracks like "No Flex Zone" and "We," which eventually caught Mike Will's attention due to their unique energy and sound.
Mike Will’s production company, Ear Drummers, facilitated their major breakthrough. As Rae Sremmurd, they transitioned from the indie scene to mainstream success with a deal through a joint venture between Mike Will and Interscope. This marked a significant milestone in their careers, rewarding years of hard work and hustle. Crazy to say but even after all the success I still feel like Rae Sremmurd is underrated

They are remarkable for having such an organic rise. Initially, many, including myself, thought they would be a one-hit wonder-and to be honest, it sounded like one for all intents and purposes. However, they not only produced multiple hits as a brother duo, which is unprecedented in itself, but they also culminated in an international smash hit like "Black Beatles." This just proved how talented they really were, each having their own niche.
But honestly, Slim deserves full credit as the older brother who truly understood his little brother’s extraordinarily unique sound and fully embraced the role as his hype man. This is not the easiest thing to do when money and corporate execs try to get in between family. Their lives drastically changed together, and they still remain strong, so for that alone, they’re legends to me.
I know it’s very mainstream, but “Black Beatles” is a hell of a production. The whole team killed that one.
