Just bought this amp and it sounds great. It is straighforward and super easy to dial. No software shits to mess around. Just pure rock and roll. Really responsive to pedals.
I just took delivery on one of these yesterday and used it to gig on last night. It was outstanding, and I used it plain jane- no pedals, just the 2 channels. Can't wait to hear what my new fx chain sounds like through it.
“Just crank the gain because we can”. Much love from an old California rocker Dagan! Your videos are amazing and that Kramer is beautiful. Perfect sounding amp to replace my old Peavey amps for gigs 🤘🤘🤘
I like this amp. No nonsense or faffing about, Sounds great, inexpensive, looks good too! Just plug and play. What's not to like? Thanks Dagan for a great demo. 👍👋👋
Just bought it. It's a very good amp. It sound as you hear it here. One tip, if you want to put a modeler or a preamp pedal directly to effect return it can be done but you have to insert a cable to the input of the amp otherwise you won't get the sound of the modeler from the power amp. This must be happening because it does not have a master volume. The path is guitar, modeler, effects return and a cable jack in the input of the amp. It took me two hours to find out. Then you control the master volume from your modeler. Also 5watts is more than enough for bedroom use. That's the positive of the 12 inch speaker. With the 50watts is beautiful but extremely loud. Thank you Blackstar for this amp, it was about time to be produced a good analog amp with an effects loop and a 12 inch. speaker. With the modeler now all day Metal!!!
No only in case you want to use only the power amp section and the speaker. In four cable method you dont have a problem because you have a cable in the input.
@@marcofkIf it had a spring reverb, it would have to be a short tank, with (maybe) 3 springs. That would sound pretty much like the digital reverb this amp has. But that's all you'd have.
Hello! Thank you for your advice. Which amps are you thinking off? Thinking of buying one for rehearsal and home and I am interested in good sound. Thank you very much in advance, Greetings from Madrid/Spain
yesterday i got fed up with the limitations of this little Fender Champion i've been practicing on and i began my quest to find the perfect amp for me. i watched this video last night and i woke up this morning and ordered the damn thing. it checks literally every box. Side note: the Blackstar FS-8 pedal is 49.95. But the Hosa FSC-385 is only 29.95 and works with it just the same.
Well, dang. This is the second of two demos where it sounds very, very good. I just returned a Katana Artist Mk II, and was planning to get an EVH Iconic because i now want to avoid 'modeling' amps. Now i'm going to have to weigh whether i can deal with just _knowing_ this is solid state. But, for like $600 less, i could (almost) get this and a Princeton.... Good of you to play some VH-ish stuff. That's my proving ground for high gain amps.
This Debut 50 has potential to dominate( hold it's own) with damn near anything with a 12 in. speaker it. This is the first truly in depth review I've seen and thank you. I feel other reviews have been bias to other amps and butthurt at the price/performance/features(ie, 50w/5w switch).
In my day it was Fender, Peavey or Marshall amps, not there's so much out there you just need to go to your local guitar store and try them all to get that sound you want. My local store just got these in so I'm going to try them out.
For those who are considering: I got it and am playing it for 2 days, difficult to beat this sound quality at this price. With a nice sounding guitar, the wanna-be "tone-connaisseurs" won't be able to tell in a blind audition. Forget using it on 50W at home, on 5W and volume around 3 or 4 it is already pretty loud for apartment. Weights about 5Kg, easy to carry to rehearse with your friends. Excellent complement if you already have a small modeling amp that can record to DAW straight from USB. If you want to have only 1 amp for home use and don't plan to ever play along with a drummer, consider the 15R instead, it got plenty of volume. You can thank me later.
Good advise the problem is finding a amp with all the features that sounds great ,I have the Katana Mini analog amp it's loud for 7 watts but you made a good point , if your not going use 50 watts then your wasting your money because If I played that amp at full wack you would be looking for a new place to live, getting the right amp to work at home is tough if your like me very picky when it comes to sound , it's black or white , if I was playing live small pub this amp certainly has what I would love , now if Blackstar could have a similar amp in the 15 with similar features effect loops etc, it would be the perfect amp for home,
@@canadianintheukbrian I am mostly a bedroom player and considered the Katana Air, but there was none to be found, so I got the Yamaha THR10-II (which is 20W), and I play it 100% of the time at home. Then I came to a friend's garage for a group play and the acoustic drums covered my sound. And since I am not a pro and just want to have fun, I got the 50R to be audible again. For those on a budget, even the little Katanas or THR are not cheap (given the amount of tech they carry), so a 15R is more sensible, but I have a couple of friends who only play at home and still got the 50R (to play at 5W) just because of the expanded EQ (10/15 only got Tone). These companies make a lot of $$$ from us bedroom players, and no wonder these Debuts are mostly out of stock in Europe.
The cool thing about this is that it is MOSFET based. Reminiscent of the old Marshall MOSFET 100H and perhaps a Ibanez MT-10 come to mind. On the Blackstar website they say it is good as a pedal platform perhaps a demo featuring some basic popular pedals would be cool? (eg TS-9, DD-3, Big Muff)
@@jumpboy29 I'm betting it's always active but with drive they will probably add some kind of diode clipping like most of the solid state/hybrid amps that I have seen. Most of the SS amps in my collection use symmetrical red LED's as clippers to ground. I have a Ibanez MT-10 and it has a very unique grindy pleasant tone to it.
@@Nightingale1887 This amp might be a decent pedal platfprm then, with the mosfet as a sort of imitation preamp tube. Bless them for including an effects loop. Maybe it would have less fizz-harshness than something like a katana 50 when gain is introduced to the clean. The debut 50 does sound ok here, I don't hear much harsh harmonics, but I also do not really hear any depth in it's clean sound either.
What's nice about these is that if people upgrade to a pricer amp, they'd still make a very nice pedal platform amp. As a practice, but interesting to use in a dry/wet or WDW rig. Because they're small and light, and should be reliable with pretty decent volume. With the 12" speaker and the ISF, EQ, and control plus the pretty decent sounding reverb, could do well as the wet amps. Especially a pair of these with something like a Vox AC15, or Marshall DSL20 / Origin 20 as the dry amp. Effects loop is useful too. And could probably upgrade the speaker to blend them to taste with a more classic Vox/Marshall valve dry amp.
Black Star is really hitting it out of the park! It's all I use for Tube and Solid State. I have an ID 30 and it's really awesome. You can deep edit without being online as well and store patches you create on the foot pedal. Great practice amp and it takes pedals like a champ. Im getting this one. Great Demo!

Good demo, but this is the second demo I’ve watched in the last few minutes where they got it backwards when demonstrating the isf. When he’s turning it clockwise and the tone is getting darker, he says that’s the US tone… but it’s the UK sound.
I have the first version Id Core stereo 40 with twin 6.5 in stereo speakers. sounds good for what they are and quite loud enough for the size. Hi everyone. Can somebody please help me? Which is a good footswitch to go with this amp? - I want to switch between clean & dirty, & have the 2nd switch controlling the reverb on & off. Appreciate advice, thanks.
Nice demo. It's good to hear it without the treble maxed out and no bass EQ, like much of the other demos. Why do people do demos with no bass? Can't understand it, sounds terrible.
I recently bought a blackstar debut 50r and I'm really enjoying it; I just wished it was louder, so I want to connect an extention cab to it. Can anyone me how exactly I would go about achieving that? I think the speaker is 4 ohms and I can't seem to find a non bass cab with 4 ohms. Sorry, I'm new to all this speaker talk.
Both sounds great, depends what you want. The Katana has lots of amps and effects built in, the Debut 50R is a better pedal platform, with a built in effects loop and a great, responsive preamp for using your own overdrive & distortion pedals. 🤘
It sounds incredible as is, but a better speaker would only make it sound better ( theoretically.) Problem is, it's 4ohms so options are limited. The only minor fault of the amp. The 4ohms.
Nice amp but I checked current prices in US. Blackstar 50 debut 50R goes for $250. The Katana 50 MKII goes for $269. So for about twenty dollars more you have an amp with the same power rating and a lot of effects. However, the Katana has no effects loop. I also suspect the Blackstar is repairable while a dead Katana cannot be revived.
The Katana is also digital and sounds harsh and artificial. This is SS-transistor tech that actual sounds like a guitar amp as opposed to a computer trying to sound like a guitar amp.
The Blackstar is what the older amps were. Analog, responsive, LOUD, had great tone, and just straight forward. Takes pedals well and sounds awesome with an SM57 in front of it. May have to add it to my aresenal!
Just bought this amp and it sounds great. It is straighforward and super easy to dial. No software shits to mess around. Just pure rock and roll. Really responsive to pedals.

- I want to switch between clean & dirty, & have the 2nd switch controlling the reverb on & off.
Appreciate advice, thanks.
Nice amp, fantastic price for it to you. Definitely get your moneys worth.
@7:10 thougt you are gonna play some vains of jenna😮😅
Nice demo. It's good to hear it without the treble maxed out and no bass EQ, like much of the other demos. Why do people do demos with no bass? Can't understand it, sounds terrible.
RIP katana, British Boys are back!
What speaker is it ? It only says 12 inch speaker
Aloha Dagan how's the volume compared to the Orange CR60?
Both super loud when cranked!
Two 8 Ohm speakers in parallel will be 4 Ohms load for the amp.
Does it have a built in loop
tell me about your guitar cos that's seems to be a special pacer
Which amplifier sounds better to you boss katana 50 mk2 or blackstar Debut 50R?
Both sounds great, depends what you want. The Katana has lots of amps and effects built in, the Debut 50R is a better pedal platform, with a built in effects loop and a great, responsive preamp for using your own overdrive & distortion pedals. 🤘
Is that a 58 Korina Explorer
how good this amps with guitar pedals
Can you gig with this amp ?
I won’t lie; while I love most everything about this amp I feel a Speaker output would’ve made me love it even more.
Is anyone switching out the speaker or is it fine
as-is in your opinion?
It sounds incredible as is, but a better speaker would only make it sound better ( theoretically.) Problem is, it's 4ohms so options are limited. The only minor fault of the amp. The 4ohms.
Thanks!@@lucid_delirium976
Nice amp but I checked current prices in US. Blackstar 50 debut 50R goes for $250. The Katana 50 MKII goes for $269. So for about twenty dollars more you have an amp with the same power rating and a lot of effects. However, the Katana has no effects loop. I also suspect the Blackstar is repairable while a dead Katana cannot be revived.
Katana has too much crap😢
The Katana is also digital and sounds harsh and artificial. This is SS-transistor tech that actual sounds like a guitar amp as opposed to a computer trying to sound like a guitar amp.
I just never liked the Katana. It's my fault I guess, I'm a sucker for amps that sound good and make me feel the music.
The Blackstar is what the older amps were. Analog, responsive, LOUD, had great tone, and just straight forward. Takes pedals well and sounds awesome with an SM57 in front of it. May have to add it to my aresenal!
how is this sound possible for the price?!!!?.. 😂🎉❤
Is that enough powerful to play with a real band ?
Beautiful girls 😊
Fu k yeah!
